  1. Have you given any thought to the grade you'll require ? There really aren't many at 9.0 and above. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  2. That's a beauty, Steve. Down to #5? — Rick Yepper.. What's your # 1 look like? I must have missed when you posted it. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. Nice 10 !
  3. Man, I've always loved that MT....I'd think Everett would have signed it....the inking does seem a bit crisper than Everett but the layout and figure placement looks like him.....maybe someone else inked it ? Beautiful copy. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  4. I've always heard that your collection is incomplete without a long run of Kirby FFs.... So true. No matter how many times I buy and sell them over the years I always come back to them. For those of us who were buying those Lee Kirby masterpieces off the stands in the 60's.....they present a strong attraction. I pull out my Omnibus and just read the letters some days. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  5. Why's it a stinker? It's somewhat busy, but it's also a great action cover. It's very similar to #5, but more exciting. I could absolutely see a kid picking #17 over #5 if they were sitting side-by-side. I do generally prefer #5 to this one, but I appreciate what Kirby was going for here. I always wondered what the first cover draft for 17 looked like. The printed version consists of primarily pasted up stats from the interior pages. I don't dislike it either,James......but I'd much rather see a large scan of that radical Golden State copy of FF 16 The FF run is one of the last ones to have large chunks in a group.....for example 31- 40.....no way should they all be priced the same. 9.2 copies of 31, 39, 40, and possibly 36 always go for considerably more than the rest. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  6. 13 is now 2K in 9.2. FF 18 is at 1600 and FF 16 is at 1500. The # 8 is another that seems to outperform the rest in it's group. 16 does seem to be a bit more common but it seems to be a favorite of many....and the low census numbers in high grade seem to boost sales for the 18. I always felt the Super Skrull was fairly significant...he's appeared all over the Marvel Universe. 17 may be the second toughest of the batch....and a 9.4 would probably attract the attention of the 2 high rollers that were the source of some of the record prices last year. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  7. White Mountain? Yes....first one I've ever owned. It's been a favorite since I first saw it on the cover of a Marvel Collectors Item Classics.GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  8. Just got this from www.wwcomics.com .....I ordered it off their website the Friday of Chicago Con before I realized they were there....I fully expected to find out they had sold it there and it was no longer available, but it seems they check their website for sales even while at a con....very professional. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  9. I don't have my copy yet....but noticed OSPG has FINALLY broken up the FF 14-20 "log jam" and separated out # 16 and # 18....which always go for way more than the others.... ....also a nice bump to # 13. Anyone notice any others ? GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  10. Finally got a decent copy of this....bought it Friday afternoon from Stephen Ritter....White Mountain copy to boot. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  11. Whoever endd up with the Curator FF's doesn't seem to be coming off of them....I wonder if the early issues have been slabbed ? GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  12. Lois Lane books with the Scaffenberger art from that time period are also very underappreciated....GREAT stuff. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  13. Another Ped with EXTREME gloss is the Bethlehem collection....maybe I've seen unrealistic specimens, but the few I've seen were quite possibly the glossiest I could think of. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  14. Maybe you could get it by mail.....you'd love it....almost all Kirby inside....I'd go 200 for a VG if I didn't have one. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a fried of jesus) (thumbs u P.S. Bill has a slabbed 8.0 that Heritage snuck into one of those weekly auctions
  15. Dang, Mark......you don't play.....GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a frend of jesus) (thumbs u
  16. Sigh...it was in my care for awhile as well Welcome back, T.......GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  17. Here's the Janowicz copy of FF 16 that Peter was refering to....it really is THAT red. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a riend of jesus) (thumbs u
  18. Indeed. Most Marvel Westerns from 1959-1962 are impossbly rare... But I'm guessing he's thinking "Superhero"... He said Silver Age Marvel "keys", not "Superheroes" (gee, that's fun! ) Hence the "I'm guessing" qualifier...I'm nothing if not a CYAer.... Doofus. And thanks for spilling the beans on RK #17...now I'll NEVER be able to upgrade my G/VG copy. (For the record, he also said first appearances, which TTA #35, DD #7, St #101, etc, aren't. ) This one is technically SA.....1957......and rare.....try to find one in ANY grade. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Black Rider Rides Again # 1
  19. I only owned 2 of his books....the other being an X-men 4, CGC 8.5 White. It was typically striking. Wish I hadn't sold it. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  20. Jimbo I still regret selling that 8.5 copy. It had some of the best cover gloss I have ever seen for this issue. It also had the best color strike I've ever seen on a 16....you could put it next to ANY copy and the other would pale in comparison. It was the Janiewicz (sp?) copy....he had a great eye for a nice book. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  21. Page 3...........can't have that ! Just got this at our local one day Richmond show. The preMarvel tears and light stain on the back cover made it affordable. I already have a slabbed 9.0....but I couldn't resist it....first copy I've ever seen with perfect centering. GOD BLESS... -jmbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  22. The ones that I miss the most are probably the MIS 75 that would've pressed into a 9.6, and TTA 31 and JIM 78....both probably 9.0. Those books from that collection usually have amazing gloss. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  23. The Portsmouth collection is also known as the R.J. Long collection....about 2000 books from 1954-1964.....7.0 to 9.4....stored in hat boxes and apple crates by the original owner. Many had non color breaking curls and waves from storage conditions. It had a CGC 9.2 ASM # 1 that sold way back in one of Heritage's first auctions. The guy walked into my friend's store with a couple of apple boxes full of mostly westerns. He told him he had quite a few more and my buddy agreed to look at them. Most of the Marvel keys were there as well as many of the D.C.'s. Real nice books....I had about 10 of the monster books at one time...but traded or sold them. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  24. Looks like it has a good shot at 8.0.....GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
  25. I wouldn't bother.....just call it a 7.0 and sell it to me. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u
