And your point is what . . . ? This is a Darkhawk appreciation thread, is it not?
Actually it's not THAT large at all.
Let's see this stack of Darkhawks anyways...

FOund another CGC 9.8 for my list registry...photos next week?
This thread could definitely use more pics.

What is the deal about that book?
That book introduces Angel Dust who will be one of the characters in the new DeadPool movie.

The words "similar" "Wolverine" & "Bloodshot" should never exists in one sentence
Just using Wolverine's first appearance as a reference.

My bet's on EW 4 (raw & slabbed) over Rai 0.
Rai 0 was a key (& hoarded as such) from day 1, whereas EW 4 wasn't hyped beforehand and likely had orders drop off from EW 1-2.
Isn't EW #4 a cameo and Rai #0 a full first appearance of Bloodshot? Is this one of those scenarios where the cameo is worth more due to a lower print run?
Similar to Wolverine, Bloodshot makes a full body shot appearance in the last panel in EW#4. As of right now, it is still up in the air to see which book the market will choose.

Rai #0 CGC 9.8 getting attention from the market. @ $182 & 39 watchers.
I'm curious to see which book will be the bigger book to get for Bloodshot. This or Eternal Warrior #4 CGC 9.8.
If someone offered a combo lot (Eternal Warrior 4, Rai 0, Eternal Warrior 5), that would be interesting to see how it would do as it is the combined appearance.
That's how I am selling my raw copies in my EBay store. So far they are moving at $50 per set. I am now testing the waters at $60 per.

Psychos. That's who.You should use the WTB second for this instead, Revat.that's upcoming too. I know all the hoarders of Darkhawk Annual 2 Newsstand come here. Those basterds.
Whatcha talking about? Who in their right mind hoards Darkhawk?
That reminds me, I recently reached and exceeded a personal Darkhawk milestone that requires a group shot.
I love group shots. Let's see them!

THANK YOU!
Side by side, in the same lighting, there is a slight difference in the coloring of the white cover for the glossy (slightly off-white).
With the angled light on the cover, they have slightly different "glares"...
but I don't see anything that would help me know that a copy was glossy if someone posted the photos from one book or the other in an auction.
There is another way to tell if the cover is glossy. All of my glossy versions are slightly shorter on the right edge of the book. Please refer to Hermster's scans for reference. You can see a little bit of the interior front page on the right edge.
-
I am seeing some things on Rai #0.... was there a glossy and non-glossy version?
Or am I just dreaming this stuff up now? Is one more rare than the other? Any label notation that is different?
Yes, there are 2 versions
If I remembered correctly, there are actually three versions for Rai #0's cover.

This is like the third time raw near mint Harbinger 1's shot past the $100 mark. I don't think there has been any other copper or modern book that performed like that in its history. The first time was in the early 90s when Valiant Comics were hot. The second time occurred when news of a 9.8 sold for $2500 spread like wildfire. And now when a movie investment has been announced.

It's interesting they mention the last issues being rare. That is exactly what I was thinking as I was reading through this thread. I bet the last 10 or so issues of each run had pretty small print runs and very few people were probably collecting them at that point. Most probably ended up getting dinged up in quarter bins. I'm not saying those last issues will surpass the more significant key issues in value, but they are definitely scarcer.
The final issues are definitely scarce, but I wouldn't advise reading them.
-
Given how rare the book is, I'm curious to see how much this will go for.

Yeah I tell myself it's one of those thats out there in the wild just need to get lucky
You know what's funny is that back about 5 years ago, this was one of the books I was looking out for to complete my Uncanny X-Men collection. I had pretty much all of the variants and reprints that existed between #1 to #500 with the exception of #297 Pressman and #423 Newsstand Error. At that time, #297 Pressman could be had on Ebay for a premium but #423 Newsstand error was nowhere to be found. Eventually I ended up giving up collecting all the variants and even sold some of them since then. Who would have thought 5 years later, I would find one at a used book store of all places?
-
Went to a local used book shop that had a small comics section. Was kinda shocked to find that X-men book. Definitely one of those rare finds. The X-Men was a buck and the Morlocks #1 was fifty cents.

Another deadbeat I just dealt with. According to his feedback, it looks like he has done it to another board member.

What's a "deadbeat"? A non-paying buyer? If so, please link to listing - also if there is prior history please link to that also. Thanks.
I ended up blocking this guy as he seems to spell trouble. Kept messaging me saying my Batman Adventures #12 CGC 9.4 is way overpriced and that it is only worth $300 according to the "price guide". He wrote several messages too and seems to be quite adamant about it.890jasm
So he was a jerk about your pricing? Got a link?
Also if you're going to call someone out on something like this, please share communication so we can see how much of a jerk he is -
"What's a "deadbeat"? A non-paying buyer? "
Yep, he skipped out on paying after I accepted a best offer from him. Here's his feedback which SonicDan also posted experiencing the same issue. I believe SonicDan is a member of the board too.

As requested ... deal with him at your leisure... I was tempted to write back asking why he even bother to come on Ebay from his last message, but I rather not waste my time with him anymore.

Your comic way over prices. A 9.4 is like 300.00
_______________________________________________________________
Let's see, the last three CGC 9.4's sold for $552.99, $610 & $599 respectively according to Ebay completed sales. There was a CGC 9.4 that sold three weeks ago on ComicLink for $725. I say my price seems fair. So where did you pull your $300 from?

Even though X-O #0 have such a high print run, sometimes I find it hard not to pull them out from the cheap bins. That book was so well put together with an awesome cover and story to boot. It definitely brings back many memories when that book was first released.

Danny Fingeroth also felt Darkhawk #1 is the first appearance. He didn't realize Marvel Age #97 existed which came out before Darkhawk #1.
I guess the only thing I'm missing to complete the set is a second print of Darkhawk #5.
Where would I even go about finding one? Figured it would be fun to have that one also for my set.
Ebay is probably your best bet. They do pop up from time to time and some sellers don't even know it's a second print. You will have to look through all the preview pictures.

I hadn't seen a copy of that issue until comic con. There are a few of them up for sale on ebay. I didn't even know that was his first appearance when I was collecting Darkhawk 25 years ago.
Marvel Age #97 is a preview issue. I still think Darkhawk #1 is the official first appearance, but it doesn't hurt to have both. (thumbs u

So any with $2.50 cover are htf variants?
As GeekareMyPeeps said, no. Only the ones he listed are hard to find and carry a premium.
There are some newsstand editions that carries a small premium. Magnus #64 comes to mind. I remembered I came across a small batch of them and they sold for higher than the direct editions.
Valiant first appearances (quick version for beginners) Now with pictures!

Neither did I, but the person who bought the book from me also bought a bunch of my other Valiant slabs. They have been selling very well lately. I guess it was a good call that I dropped off a short box of Valiants at the Baltimore Comic Con for 9.8 pre-screening. All of these books came back just in time for the movie announcement.
