  1. Sounds like it might be based on volume, although I'm pretty sure Mr. Storms was there at the beginning so perhaps the original dealers might have some privileges people who signed up later don't have.
  2. They could have raised the same amount of money with another nickel price increase when they first announced it. I'm starting to wonder if these multiple acts of shooting themselves in the feet isn't being done intentionally.
  3. So the same company that paid for nonsensical grades on blank slabs somehow got 73 9.9s and a 10.0?
  4. Somebody at Blackstone saw how Diamond made comic shop owners unpaid interns for years and wants to copy the same pattern with CGCs dealer network.
  5. That hasn't been my experience at all, as people here want discounts just because they feel entitled to them.
  6. Where did the books come from? Did he buy them himself from news stands or did he put them together, buying from used book stores and dealers? Color touching was very common until the mid-1990s so there is a possibility some of them would be considered restored and sell for a fraction of their original worth.
  7. Auctioning off two books for the kids at St Jude. This will be on the honor system. The winning bidder will make the donation to St Jude and I will mail them their winning book, at my cost. Pretty simple. If no one else wants you, neither do I. No returns. Book 1 is a Journey Into Mystery 94. A very early July 1963) Loki cover, as Thor takes his brother to The United Nations. This book was given a .5 grade because it is missing a coupon on a non-story page. It presents well enough, especially for the grade assigned. Minimum bid is $25. Book 2 is an X-Men #159, from the Estate of Dave Cockrum. It is graded 7.0 with Off-White pages but has several large cracks on the front of the case. The book also has a Not to Be Sold stamp under the logo. A nice keepsake from the personal collection of the artists who gave so much to the X-Men, the Legion and other 1980s comics. Starting bid on this will also be $25. Auctions ends at 9PM Sunday night or two minutes after the last bid. Remember- you donate the money to St Jude and I'll send you the books. Free Shipping.
  8. I believe CGC allowed slight CT on GA books because otherwise it would have had to put many Church books in a purple label. I don't understand why a 1942 Captain America with slight CT gets a blue label, but the same dot on an AF 15 gets a purple.
  9. I suspect if the CEO of Blackstone wanted to know what color shirt Matt Nelson wore to his prom, his research team would have the answer by the end of the day.
  10. You think that they laid out $500 million and just sit around, hoping their new employees do right by them?
  11. It's a niche item. I have a bunch I'd like to sell but MCS doesn't list them properly. I might list them on ebay for a crazy BIN and take offers.
  12. Wyoming is the place to be. It used to be Nevada but Wyoming keeps making it easier and easier.
  13. Of two evils, choose neither. Of the four books you mentioned, I'd choose none of the above. If you want to speculate, wait until you feel confident making your own choices.
  14. Unless I'm selling a super-premium book, I find MCS beats all of the bigger auction houses, and none of them pay anywhere near as fast.
  15. Offered is a Batman book from the UK. I'm guessing it is Bronze Age but CGC didn't date it. It is in a CGC Universal slab but is missing two pages and states it is incomplete. A nice edition to any Batman collection or if you are into CGC errors. $30 with free domestic shipping. Paypal or zelle preferred. Checks must clear.
  16. Don't sell your books. Borrow against them. You don't owe taxes on money you've borrowed.
  17. I would think that there is a CGC desk at Blackstone that is in at least daily contact with a counterpoint at CGC. These guys don't lay out hundreds of millions to acquire companies and then sit back and wait for the company's quarterly reports.
  18. Way too much paperwork for that. Why can't they leave the little folk alone and go after real criminals?
  19. Just factor the taxes into your prices, like every business does.
  20. A Business License around here costs $ 50 for up to (... IIRC) $ 50,000 in gross sales, then more as sales increase, so it's well worth it. The only caveat is you have to make a profit in 3 out of every 5 years. If your business fails to make it and goes belly up, there is nothing to prevent you from opening a new business. And in three years when that one fails, you can open another one. In America, one can get rich by operating a failing business. Why should only successful businessmen enjoy the good life?
  21. No, but I do get bonus points for doing the right thing. Hopefully, in the end they will outweigh the occasional horrible act. I have much to atone for.
