I'm up in the air on this one. It seems like the consensus here is if I'm negotiating via PM and the seller agrees to a deal, that it isn't complete until the" I'll take it is" posted in public, or the dealer says the book is sold. So if I want to remain private, I'm now at the mercy of the seller who may post it right away or end up getting distracted and not post it for a few minutes. If I buy a book via PM, and the deal is closed before anyone else posts it, I don't think I would be a happy, satisfied customer. Food for thought?

My two complaints on ebay involved buyers being overcharged by GSP, as if the seller sets the prices.

Weird interlude....... In Seventh grade, my basketball team got to pick our own nickname, so we choose The Psychedelic Six. Everything was great for about three weeks until the schools principle heard the name and thought it reflected poorly on the school and made us change it. The name she ended up okaying was The Psychotic Six. She evidently had no issue with the term psychotic being associated with her students, just not Psychedelics.

I currently have about 50 short boxes in an Arizona room with a tin roof that hasn't been waterproof in the past. It supposedly is now but I don't expect the coming monsoon season to be problem free. To that end, each box is inside its own plastic garbage bag and the two stacks have a 10X14 tarp over them. I may end up shrink wrapping some of the boxes, as I have several rolls of movers wrap left from my moves.

Some autographed books are worth this much. Others are worth that much more while others are worth less. It also depends if it has a recognized COA or if it is a yellow label. As asked, your question is unanswerable.

You can always lower the price if your initial one is too high. Price it too low and you wont get a chance to correct it.

As I understand it, the draft in Korea wasn't 18 year olds as it was in Vietnam. I remember my Mom( who graduated high school in 1949) told me a lot of boys would enlist at 18 because they'd be out in three years and get on with their lives rather than wait to get drafted at 21. If she was accurate, it can explain why the younger brother enlisted after the older brother was drafted. Edit- it looks like the US drafted men aged 21-29 during the Korean War. If you know the persons name, finding out when he was killed or reported missing would be simple.

Legally, who would be entitled to the collection? If the younger brother died without a will or being married, I'd think all his possessions passed on to his parents, not his siblings. I think it is safe to assume both his parents are dead so then they would be part of the parents estate.

I think their cap is $1,000. I've never sold a book on their site for more than $5700 so it has never effected me. They get 8% on auctions and the BIN is 10% up to $300 and then 8% for the rest. I suspect they would be flexible if you offered them some really valuable books but ca't say for sure. With eBay, you eat the paypal fees, with MCS, they do so that's an extra 3% or so in your pocket.

I've written how I moved my operations in late Feb. from a commercial building I owned to an old farmhouse. At the same time, I switched banks. Over the last few weeks, I saw that I was missing some funds so after some research I concluded I was missing several checks I'd received from two sellers. One was MCS, the other was a big aucion house. So yesterday I called both places. MCS told me their accounting department was gone for the day but gave me the hours they'd be in today. I called this morning and after explaining the situation, their guy spent a good fifteen minutes helping me out. He was able to locate the checks, see they hadn't been cashed and issued an immediate replacement for them. The other place connected me to an answering machine where I left a message. today I called again and left a message. Called their main number and was told to speak to someone in accounting. When I said I'd left two messages I was told there was nothing else that could be done. I realize this is a situation of my own making and certainly don't expect everyone to drop everything to help me resolve it, but like many people, I vote with my pocketbook. Which of the two companies would you think I'll give my future business to?

Why would you pay money to get a book slabbed in such a way that it will sell for half what it would unslabbed? The idea of getting a book signed is to increase its value, not decrease it.

If you lower your expectations enough, they will eventually meet them.

Not really. IF I was home waiting for a package and I got a text saying it had been delivered, I'd notify the seller. Wouldn't you? I'm not saying this isn't a scam but the message doesn't show me anything.

If you are looking at it as an investment, I'd hold the Hulk. If you want to make profit, focus on what potential buyers want, not what you like If you want the book with your favorite character, that is entirely up to your tastes.

New sellers offering ballpark grading will need to have some mighty fine books to make it worthwhile, imo. Most sellers seem to use Priority mail. You can get it at discounted prices via the internet. They will send you free boxes and you can have them picked up at your home or work. Most people use paypal. If you need five days to ship, say that in advance. Three days seems to be the norm but the important thing is to keep the sellers in the loop. Packing is hands on learning. Plenty of videos on youtube for you, and mycomicshop.com has a page devoted to how to pack comics for shipping.

I'd think Detective 1 would be the most expensive non-hero, and Whiz #2 would be the most expensive non- DC. No idea about the last question.

My father was born in 1925 and he said by the time Superman and Batman came along he was too old for them. His idea of comics was the Sunday Funnies and he thought you should outgrow them by Junior High School. He claimed only the most ignorant Marines in his unit read them and he actually claimed the Japanese love of comics showed their inferiority. Like many Marines of his generation, they didn't think much of Japan or its culture. My mom was born in 1931 and remembers her brothers having and reading stacks of comics but said she never really read them. Her brother told me they rarely had new comics or even ones with covers but they'd get them second and third hand. He said they had a porch full of them but they only would read them on rainy days. The neighbor across the street cleaned subway cars and would bring home comics and magazines left behind. My Uncle was in college in the 1950s and remembers them burning comics.
