  1. You might want to read the whole thread and then edit your first post.
  2. I buy remaindered books when they are incredibly cheap. My first real exposure to these was when I stumbled into a store that had cut the top of the comic to return and then plastered an advertisement on to the remaining cover. It was 1975 and the books were all DCs from 1955-58, mostly Worlds Finest and Detectives. The store was asking a quarter each and trying to decide between a new Marvel or a crappy 1950s DC wasn't easy. I remembering offering the guy a dime a piece if I took them all but he wasn't interested. The exception to that is my two Schomburg ones. The Cap and a Marvel Mystery. I paid about $100 for each of them. Several years ago, someone posted a GA remaindered book in a green label. I think it was a 3.5 but am not sure. I think .5 is the correct technical grade but if you had two copies, one that would be a 6.0 if not for being stripped, and another would be a 1.0 if it weren't stripped, I think the values would be very different.
  3. Last I looked, $250 was less than $600. My copy is much nicer, especially with a color copy inside the front cover. What grade does CGC assign a remaindered book?
  4. I recently offered a board member a remaindered copy of Cap 54 for $250 shipped. I guess I should be glad they passed on it.
  5. If you find a person who specializes in errors, you will do well. I suspect your average buyer would only be interested in it at a very deep discount.
  6. It's funny but I loved Warlock pre-Strange Tales, and love Jim Starlin's work but I just can't get in to his Strange Tale run. I don't think the story matches up to the art. The issue where the head clown keeps throwing away the diamonds in order to put out more garbage totally went over my head when I read it off the newsstands. I thought it was nonsense until I later understood what Starlin was attempting. By the time Warlock was back in his own title, I enjoyed it far better.
  7. I had the Captain Marvel pinup on the wall of every place I lived until the mid 90s.
  8. There are some really great pinups in that book. One of the finest art books of that era.
  9. Pick any date you want. Someone will agree and others will disagree. For me, Copper starts when Marvel and DC raised their regular prices to sixty cents. Others date it from 1983 when the explosion of indies took off. Dreadstar 1 was the first Epic title, which was a real game changer. Creators could publish with Marvel but retain ownership in their work.
  10. For me, Copper starts with Marvel and DC raising their prices from fifty cent to sixty cents.
  11. I've heard of a number of people being banned over the years, mostly for excessive returns and one who may have used a few salty words on the phone with a rep. Stuff happens. If it is important to you, try opening the lines of communication with an email. Whenever I'd get the MCS rep with the British accent, I'd just hang up and call back. She was not helpful and liked to stir the pot. I guess she is gone because it's been a long time since I hung up on her. A million dollar operation with a fifty cent gatekeeper.

  16. Strike that. Reverse it. Has there been any studies done to show that slabs are as good as mylar for conservation?
  17. Nice book. I think those early JSA crossovers are very unappreciated.
  18. There is a 99.9% chance that it will appreciate 100% before it depreciates 100%. Maybe even higher.
  19. 4.0 That circle is a grade killer,imho
