  1. Screw cancer. Kick it's freaking . And when you do, look it in the eye, clutch it by its throat and give it a solid kick in the balls for me.
  2. I had to go back and look. Coyote started in Eclipse Magazine, but the monthly comic was in fact Epic.
  3. Eclipse went bankrupt and all their backstock was sold at auction. Todd ended up buying all the intellectual property and it wouldn't surprise me if he bought up a couple of cases of the book just for the purpose of signing them.
  4. I didn't suggest that you remove the sticker. I suggested you have the sticker removed. There are dozens of people who do this for a living, and I've done many myself. If it weren't such an expensive book, I'd simply suggest you go to youtube and do it yourself with a hairdryer, but as it is, just get a comic restorer to do it for you.
  5. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you. Are you asking if an 8.0 copy of Hefty #1 that has three in grade should be worth more than an 8.5 copy of the same book, that has 200 copies in grade? If I sent in a coverless copy that was the only one in grade, would you think it would be worth more than the 8.5? It's much rarer, right?
  6. Where do you live? Are there shops around you that cater to both comics and cards? I've had very good results from trading cards to a card dealer who had a bunch of comics sitting around. From experience, I can tell you many baseball card dealers run into comic collections and often just have them laying around. I'll offer you $200 for the set, maybe someone will offer you more. I could do better if you wanted to trade for comics. As I said, I see a bunch of lots of these cards but few complete sets.
  7. My thoughts are it should be relatively easy to have the sticker removed and without it the book will grade higher. Unless the sticker was placed there to hide a tape pull.
  8. The sets you listed are incredibly common and while some people ask $15-$25 for them, you can often buy them for much less. The Fleer set I'm not too familiar with, but most collectors prefer the Topps set from that year. I don't see many complete sets for sale, but I'd guesstimate your set, minus those two cards is in the $300-$400 range.
  9. Of the last 80 books I sold, 12 were DCs, and five were Marvel Family Fawcett GA books. I broke even or made less than 10% profit on the GA Capt. Marvel books, made 20-30% on the DC books and did great on almost every Marvel comics book. With the exception of BA Neal Adams Batman books, I don't see much interest or demand for DC, and less for Fawcett books. The public has voted and the future of comic collecting seems to be solidly in the Marvel camp. Even for the Golden Age, you can buy plenty of non-Timely Schomburg covers for under $100,but try finding a Schomburg Timely for anywhere near that. So this week, I bought a Spidey 252 in 9.8 and another in 9.6, a raw 8.0ish NM 98, a Fine first app. of the Unknown Soldier, a signature series Marvel Projects signed by San Lee, Joe Simon and the recent Captain America writer., and four raw VFish X-men in the 114-125 range. Got bargains on all but the 252 9.8 which I stupidly overbid on.
  10. I'm the adventurous type, so I prefer to buy from low feedback sellers on ebay, hopefully located somewhere in Asia. I avoid buying from established dealers, especially ones who brag about their years of experience or who advertise in Overstreet. While I hate to denigrate an entire sector, it seems most comic vendors are out for a profit.
  11. If you wait too long, the competition may very well reverse engineer the new slabs and close the gap in the newton ring technology.
  12. Someplace, buried deep in a hidden bunker, I have a long box of Marvel -issued two packs that have two X-Men related books and a pack of cards. I'm going to guess these came out around 1994/95. Does anyone know if these cards were the Impell ones or what they were exactly?
  13. If you want a book that CGC has graded, buy a book that CGC has already graded. If a vendor is selling raw books, there are any number of reasons why they are doing so.
  14. Perhaps the WWE only paid to advertise in X amount of copies, or Image was committed to Y amount of house ads for their products. Wetworks was originally plagued by massive delays so maybe the WWE product may have been outdated.
  15. I first became aware of Bad Idea this week, and I don't understand their marketing. Nothing I've read about them or their books has piqued my interest.
  16. Bunch of rabid capitalistic dogs. How dare they.
  17. Nova 1 is the Bronze Ages answer to New Mutants 1.
  18. If you have no emotional attachment to them, now is a great time to sell. Lots of people spending silly money right now. Rather than rush into anything, take a week to read the last few weeks on this board. Learn a bit to help you make an informed decision. I'm 62 and started selling off my books a few months ago.
  19. Your comics do not have to be professionally graded in order to sell. Clear pictures will sell them. To save yourself a lot of trouble, check out if your books are eligible to be consigned by mycomicshop. not all books are eligible, but for the books that are , it is by far the easiest way to sell them. You send them your list, you approve, you mail them to them and in a month or so, they list them both on their website and on ebay. They grade them, they advertise them, they mail them out. All you do is cash checks. They will walk you thru the entire process. Meanwhile, post a few books in the Grading section here so you can begin to understand todays grading, which is far different from the old school way of grading. Dealers can no longer advertise their wares as being in the VG-VF range. It's a really good time to sell. Prices are high and demand is strong.
  20. Pay no attention to the men behind the curtains. Be assured they love our hobby and comic books and would never, ever, do anything not in the best interest of the hobby and their customer base.
  21. ST 114 is the first time Jack Kirby had drawn Cap since he and co-creator Joe Simon quit/got fired from Timely in the 40s. I don't care if it isn't Steve Rogers. It's Jack Kirby drawing Captain America.
