I bought ECs from Newstand for a dime. I kept these for 70 years and just submitted them to CGC. I threw away dozens once I read them and then regretted it once I heard publication would cease. Just got this back as a 3.5, but did better with my Vault of Horrors 31 and 35.
Great to hear you saved your original books over all these years.

In terms of comics we have been in a recession for quite some time.
SA to MA has been in a correction from pandemic highs yes. Price reversion to the mean (of trend) was inevitable as supply increased and demand normalized. Recession is a technical economic term for GDP contraction across multiple consecutive quarters.

It's not like recession lasts forever
Fair point, however, we are not yet in a recession and what may be potentially influencing price shifts is a combination of increased supply as well as higher interest rates. Those factors are more persistent than GDP fluctuations.

Hi here is one documentary to consider about pulp magazines. You'll want to screen it prior to ensure it's age appropriate

Except for the high demand classic covers and truly scarce books, I'd say the market has largely plateaued after huge gains from 2020 to 2022, with some slight softening for a lot of post-war books with no distinction in content or cover. Overall the market is still solid, and still comparatively hot in some areas like PCH and WW2 covers, but the days of automatically asking a higher price than the last sale if it was more than a few months old are past.
Fair points and I largely agree. My comment was relative to BA/CA/MA markets, GA has provided selective collectors with more favorable market conditions. The common factor is demand relative to supply; genres such as western and cartoon (outside of early Disney and Archie) also have a demand side issue. For higher tier keys, the potential buyer pool is more limited, which often leads to variance (see the Cap 1 7.0 at CL vs CC this month).

Ps I heard there will be an bank run tomorrow?
Hyperbole aside, the supply side scarcity does insulate GA from other eras. Even in lower demand cycles, golden age has held up reasonably well.

Wow. There are actually 2 copies in this signature auction. The sheer amount of quality GA is eye opening.

Apparently, they feel it will devalue their brand.
Agreed - artificial scarcity is not sustainable, and Funko should be more responsible for their choices. Funko's judgement and choice here may hurt their brand more than a donation ever would.

Yes, it is low. Last 7.0 went for 312k in May '22 on HA. Most recent sale is a 4.5 which did 194k in December '22. In terms of reasons why: there are a finite pool of buyers at this level, so potentially it was a visibility and timing issue? I view this as an outlier on the low side.
