  1. I agree. I didn't call either of them that. I just think anyone capable, when the world was normal yesterday, to be able to decide in an instant that the babysitter or next door neighbor gets it between the eyes point blank is detached from reality and lacking the inhibitors in the normal conscience that prevents people from taking (what they think is) a life. The older dad has seen enough evidence and knows what he's dealing with. The younger has seen as much evidence but is in serious denial over what it means and is still hoping, beyond logic and evidence, that this will pass without him having to let go of the world as he knows it. Anyone who sees a dog being eaten in their living room or their neighbor snarling through the fence and can immediately take a hammer to their head without a second thought may be a sociopath. (Spoken in the tone of "you may be a redneck..) It's that "second thought" that separates sociopath from reasonable dude defending himself. There are some degrees of difference between your position and mine. I don't know how many, but some.
  2. I see what you are saying but we live in a world where zombies and their actions are main stream. In this world, there are no zombie folklore, books or movies. Seeing your neighbor eating the dog would be a WTF moment, but not necessarily a immediately shoot him in the head moment...in that world. Heck, if you walked in right now and found your neighbor eating your dog and you shot him in the head, you would be the one going to prison. But your honor...I thought he was a zombie. Honest! No you would not. You absolutely would not.
  3. Right, but the moment he comes toward me, with "come hither" eyes, I'm dropping him. The main father is much more passive than me, but I don't think that makes me, or the other Latino father, a sociopath.
  4. I think you state your case too forcefully. For instance, if I walk into my living room, and my neighbor is eating my German Shepeherd, I am putting him down, no questions asked. And in my own intimate reflection of self, I do not consider myself a sociopath. There are plenty of shades of grey between hesitant Samaritan and textbook sociopath. The two Latino fathers are doing a great job of showing the viewer multiple ways to make difficult choices. I find myself agreeing with both of them. EDIT: (preEDIT! I edited before I posted) I DO agree using your example, that killing the babysitter with no effort leans towards sociopathy. Do you agree that catching the dog eating neighbor and resolving the situation more forcefully does NOT lean towards sociopathy?
  5. I saw that recently. And if I had known how to embed videos, would have posted it for you.
  6. I'm in. Loved Brooks as a teen. Find him unreadable as an adult, but like his worlds and ideas.
  7. The first two are on my to watch list. I'm deep into Herzog and China documentaries at the moment.
  8. 11 + 2 = 13 Points (and a pony) Nice going! That wasn't easy
  9. Your quote key seems to be stuck. Also...no.
  10. I want to know the "idea". This "awesome" "(idea)" that Park done "got".
  11. Great pic (thumbs u 1) Bridge from the USS Enterprise 2) M-class planet 3) Beef Jerky 4) Cracker with mustard 5) Jeff-fro? Do I get points...? You probably haven't been here long enough to know. That's Jerkfro. See there was this guy...complete pantload really...and he called Jeffro a jerk...and...it led to some funny stuff. Jerkfro was a real A true Park.
  12. I don't understand your "new math" but I'll take the points. So I just watched Aguirre, Wrath of God. Not what I expected, but really liked it.
  13. I really, really, really, really, really wish someone would do a period piece, "Heart of Darkness". "This too, was once one of the dark places of the earth."
  14. Where are my attribution points? And don't say the ten points listed. Those are previous totally unearned pony points. So I rewatched Apocalypse Now last night. I think I'm overwhelmed at just how amazing this film is, especially in light of what a trainwreck the production was. Genius filmmaking.
  15. Man, Jeffro went all Park on Blowie in here.
  16. It wasn't green, so he's safe. You get a pony. ELAINE: What about ponies? What kind of abnormal animal is that? And those kids who had their own ponies.. JERRY: I know, I hated those kids. In fact, I hate anyone that ever had a pony when they were growing up.
