  1. Thanks Steve on the info. Yes, they are nice. I have 43 Shadow Yakima’s that I have picked up over the years.
  2. Just picked a a nice copy of “Underworld” (circa. March 1934).
  3. One of my favorite of the Weird Tales that came out of the collection from which Todd got the Saucy! When I looked at the books I remember texting Todd and asking him if they did reprints of these, because they looked like they had just been printed! Obviously they were meticulously taken care of, and stored well! The bottom left corner of the back cover is just slightly angled down with no crease.
  4. One of my favourite Spicy Mystery covers that came out of the same collection as the Saucy Stories that Todd posted. I don’t trust myself to balance the book enough to show a shot of the paper, but it’s near white, with a fresh look and glossy front cover.
  5. I picked up an Everybody’s Magazine (Vol. 36, #2, March 1917). Not high grade, but just a real cool cover for ... $18.00. It is a touch larger than pulp size, and has slick interior paper, so the paper is near white.
  6. They are just all extremely tough to get pre-1920, and because it is shorter run it’s highly sought after and rare.
  7. You are welcome Todd. It was all in an effort to upgrade my Shadow #1. Here the Saucy Movie Tales and Mystery Adventures that came out of that collection that have bone white paper, and vivid colors Some of them have some imperfections but they have that nice fresh new look to them.
  8. A few of my favourite covers, from a little bit more obscure titles. The amazing stories bedsheet isn’t obscure. I’ve had some killer newsstand fresh bedsheets and I let them go, but I kept the one because it was my favourite cover. The photo almost looks like there’s a little bit of a smudge, but there’s isn’t, and in person it looks like it looks brand new with bone white paper.
  9. I was able to get a few Strange Detective Mysteries in the big collection I bought, and I hung onto the nicer ones. There were 3 mid grade Canadian copies but I thought they were really neat covers as well. Laid the books out on a table, stood on a chair and took the picture, precariously balancing. After this I found the individual pictures that I took a while back 🤨
  10. Dan, A number of these books look eerily familiar ...LOL! Dwight
  11. Awesome! Keep the pics rolling. FYI: The best way to take a picture and avoid any glare is to put them on a flat surface in natural light (not direct sunlight). This takes as good of pictures as a shadowbox, and there’s no glare. Believe me after having to take thousands of pictures this Summer, I learned that quickly.
  12. Yes, I’ve heard that from a Couple of other collectors as well.
  13. The way to deal with Dave is this: Ask him to give you extra scans on a book that you are interested in, ask him to look at the page quality, then make an offer. Sometimes he’ll take an offer at 70% of what he’s asking, sometimes 50%, sometimes he won’t move at all because it’s a consignment book. I agree his pricing is high and his grading can be a l loose or inconsistent, but that’s my advice to anyone. This works especially well if you Email Dave and ask him to pull the book and then get him on the phone and have him describe it. If it’s a book you really want, there is a little bit of extra time that needs to be taken, but big deal, as I do this with John Gunnison and his auctions. If a collector thinks that it is too much of a hassle, then I guess he/she does not want to book that bad. You are right on with your customer service comment, David’s an honest person. I have sold him 2 collections of over $10,000 each and the money was wired immediately, no problems. I dropped five figures with him when he came up with 35 Shadow Strasser's from an old time collection years back, and I have bought some individual high-grade books that he had just gotten in, and I had no problems with him at all, but there is a process. 😜 Dwight
  14. I think everybody has heard that Windy City Pulp and Paper convention has been postponed until Sept. 11-13, 2020. 100% the correct call by Doug and John as a high number of pulp collectors that would be attending the show are in the demographics that are most affected by this virus.
  15. These books were also Roy Krenkel’s. I bought the entire Doc Savage run, but the 1933’s and January and February of 1934 were needlessly taped with a heavy clear book binding tape on the inside cover, therefore I sold them at Heritage. I also sold from 1938 to the end of the run, but kept the last four. From March 1934 on, they were unrestored and beautiful. Dwight
  16. Picking up the “Strasser“ copy of The Shadow “The Crime Oracle” (1936) goes well with the other three. In comparison, the Strasser is the sharpest, but they are all high grade.
  17. On a brighter note just won these books at Hakes auctions. I will be selling the Uncanny Tales.
