  1. Ah I stand corrected. I don't pay any attention to Way too many stories of favoritism, overgrades, inconsistency for me to pay any attention to them. I would rather keep my books raw or maximize their value. It's not a permanent thing - I've seen the #2 grading service in other collectibles improve to compete with the top dog. It's just going to take a lot, including a more presentable product, for them to get there IMO.
  2. Who else has QR codes that can instantly pull up grader notes? Imaging being in a comic shop. One click - boom - you know exactly why the book graded the way it did. Sounds pretty innovative to me.
  3. I don't see how that is possible - it's not us little guys fueling CGC, it's the high volume submitters. I actually think they are doing pretty well. TATs are WAY down in the past few months and they are doing innovative things like free grader notes and QR codes. I'm not too happy about this shipping arrangement but it's not such a disaster to make me walk.
  4. I have shipped many 5 figure collectibles over my life using USPS Registered Mail. It's under lock and key end-to-end and the insurance is crazy cheap as a result. Like $30 to insure $20,000. I'm not sending as high end stuff as often as in the past so FedEx should work for me but it you want the most trustworthy way, it's Registered mail. I even had a package go dark for a couple weeks registered once and once notified it stared moving the same day. I will definitely use it to ship books over $1K to CGC from my end.
  5. They can review anything and bump down a book once they get it open. Shaken Comic Syndrome alone could cause re-evaluation. I have successfully reholdered 60 9.8's so not worried about those but 9.9's are another story. Especially high value ones. It would be cool if you could do a reholder pre-screen, but I watched a video with CGC's head grader and he said if they see something that would cause them to reevaluate a grade, they will reholder it anyway so that it is not overgraded in the market.
  6. I would never recommend getting a reholder on a 9.9. They could choose to bump down the grade. My buddy has a cracked holder on a TWD 1 9.9 and he is never sending that in for that reason.
  7. I just had a conversation on this in the Facebook CGC Facebook Group. The oldest 9.9 is Zip Comics #7 from 1940. The oldest 10.0 is Kolynos Presents the White Guard 1 from 1949. Link: http://cgcdata.com/cgc/cgc99/
  8. I would ask @Sensei Ryanto show off his Walking Dead 9.9s and 10.0s, but given he has 95 issues graded 9.9 and 17 issues graded 10.0, I think it's easier if ya'll just hit this link. I don't know of anyone else that has over 100 9.9 and 10.0 issues in a single series, does anyone else? https://comics.www.collectors-society.com/registry/comics/PeopleSetDetail.aspx?PeopleSetID=68877
  9. Wow talk about a dead thread!! But I have something cool. I commissioned an artist to do a TWD 1 homage with Something is Killing the Children’s Erica Slaughter and supporting characters as window zombies. Let me know what you think!!!
  10. For my fellow Walking Dead fans. I had this Something is Killing the children homage piece commissioned. I hope you like it! 11x17 pencils and inks.
  11. We're at $2.2M with BP and the live auction is still not for 15 hours!
  12. I have to admit that looks freaking awesome infinity murdered out
  13. I scanned that thread and Tim never replied that he purchased it. What's the scoop?
  14. What's the over/under on this one? https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/captain-america-comics-1-san-francisco-pedigree-timely-1941-cgc-nm-94-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7270-91053.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  15. OK experts, need your help on this one. There is no 9.6 on the census. Did this book get upgraded to 9.8? Or did it take a hit and fall lower? Could you imagine the stress of cleaning and pressing this book 😰
  16. I am already on the lookout for a centerfold for a friend. I think lots are chasing that. Good luck!
  17. I agree. CGC made this business decision. If they feel so strongly about it, then they should by them off the open market and destroy them.
  18. That is hilarious!!! Clearly these guys are edgy, have a great sense of humor and are excellent at Marketing. I mean, who really cares about a sticker? 😂
  19. I LOVE when LCS's take care of their regulars. I used to have that for the series I collected, then they changed ownership and now I'm treated like one of the sheep. So after getting slighted for about a year, I left and went to another shop. Voted with my $$$.
