  1. None of them are really that low, but if you're going to claim the last issue is relatively low, you have to acknowledge that many other issues are as well.
  2. No kidding. CGC has recognized Canadian Newsstands (regardless of whatever poor terminology they've used) since they opened (or close enough), but around half the slabs in this decade-old thread aren't properly labeled. What numbers? The CGC Census does not yet reflect the full recognition of Newsstands that CGC finally implemented. We already know that the previous arbitrarily-recognized Newsstands have poor numbers because they weren't recognized until well after the first submissions.
  3. They bump it up to the proper tier and change you more. Then you pray it doesn't get damaged or lost before it gets back to you, because you won't get full value
  4. You can post whatever you want (within the rules). That won't change the simple fact that there is no money.
  5. As is too often the case, CGC is incorrect here. Comics were distributed through the newsstand system, through the mail (subscriptions), and however any promotional comics were distributed. Unfortunately, that's hardly the only inaccuracy in that article, but I'm pretty sure we went over that before, when it was released.
  6. I see CGC is still hard at work, keeping up their reputation for perfect labeling.
  7. When did he do that? Is he not continuing to work on books and provide those services, albeit slowly?
  8. That seems likely, but where's the shady link? I'm confused.
  9. That's a lot of work to show you're unaware of Sensational She-Hulk 1.
  10. Promotional comics exist, with some being promotional versions of regular issues. Subscriptions were also a thing, meaning those copies were never in the newsstand system. The newsstand system was the primary method of distribution for comics before the direct market overtook it, but it was not the only one.
  11. Some mostly minor corrections: In the beginning, comics were just themselves (no additional versions/editions). A significant majority, but not all, were distributed through the newsstand system. Comic shop owners ordered from distributors, not publishers. "The barcode area on the cover would soon become a consistent way to identify newsstand and direct edition comic books." "Barcode lines in the 1980s identify a newsstand edition." Usually, but this is not guaranteed. Marvel's 'M' box was only in use from Oct 82 - Mar 87, just over 4 years. Many comics, even from the Big 2, distributed through the direct market during the dual distribution era do not have Newsstand editions.
  12. Good for you! Do you think you're the first person to make money selling garbage?
  13. They all have a general continuity, which is the point of the triangle numbers. The issues with a more specific connection have the story title on the cover, usually at the top and possibly with a number, like these:
  14. So they weren't touched, but a split magically appeared that's his fault?
  15. I sold one recently... apparently for too little based on this sale. Oh well, I guess I'll price the next one higher.
  16. Yes. The Spectre hasn't had a series with newsstand distribution since the 60s.
  17. That would have been very, very interesting... for one particular reason.
  18. Any similarity seems very superficial and, very likely, coincidental.
  19. I think most of you are looking for this thread.
  20. The comparison is so absurd on so many levels that it's almost impossible to believe that somebody made it.
