In the lower left hand corner there is a stain which I assume takes away from the value. Actually it might be dried glue from my days of building WWII models. Ugh!

Well I sure don’t want to damage the book. I don’t know of any pressers other than CGC. What they present on their website looks very encouraging so I’ll approach them first. Thanks for the insights!

Thank you for the cautionary insight. I don’t think the comic is frail but I really don’t have a good sense of what is and what isn’t frail. I am really new at this so please bear with me. Who is joeyp and how does one contact him. Thanks!

I noticed that the back cover had a brown tinge to it. So that is called foxing. Does foxing come out with a clean and press? Thanks!

Yes, The comic was in the bag when I scanned both front and back sides. I didn't want to disturb the comic so I took out just the backer board. Going forward I will remove the comic from the bag prior to scanning. Thank you for viewing and your comments!

Thank you for your extensive review and remarks, it really helps! I am thinking of sending this comic to CGC for cleaning and pressing. It will be my first time submission. I have heard about the long turn around times for grading/cleaning/pressing, but I am not in any hurry. So I ordered their shipping box of 10 for ease of submitting. Now to find another nine comics of value to fill the box. I'll post some more comics for review later. Again appreciate the comments and insights.

Hi, Old Newbie here. Now retired going through my comics I have had since my youth. Unfortunately most were well read and not much of value today. But then at the time early 1960s, they were great entertaiment. I saw the this comic was popular with collectors. I would appredciate your time in reviewing the attached scans and providing any thoughts to grades and if a clean and press would help improve the grade. The back cover is pretty dirty. Thanks everyone for you grading opinions! The two examples of a 1.0 and 1.5 grade are very helpful for me in getting a feel for what is a lower graded comic. Actually they look pretty good to me. I’m thinking that most of the comics I’ve inherited are going to be in this 0.5 to 2.0 range. Thanks again!

Okay, so here goes. An Old Newbie here. First time posting. I inherited my brother's comics from the 50s and 60s. Most of them in rough shape. As a kid, I remember my brother telling me that he really enjoyed the Turok, Son of Stone series. From the condition of this comic, it shows. So in his honor I am selecting this one. That's his name penned in the title. Thanks for vewing and commenting!

Thank you Cherami for your initial post and to all those replied with helpful suggestions on how to manage an inherited comic collection. Cherami took my thoughts right out of my mind and couldn't have said it better. I am an old Newbie in a similar boat. I inherited my older brother's collection of 1950's comics which unfortunately are in bad shape. And somehow I have been able to hold on to my collection of early to mid-1960s comics through the many house moves over the years. These comics may or may not have any value. But were well loved; read and re-read with buddies and family, after school and on rainy Saturday afternoons. They hold precious memories of good times in the neighborhood. So now in the process of downsizing and have come to this website for help. From what I read it looks like I have some work ahead of me. But it will be enjoyable work, flipping through pages of my youth. I am truly impressed at the breadth and depth of knowledge that is shared on these pages. And the willingness and kindness of complete strangers to help those in need of direction. Thank you, much appreciated!
