  1. Assuming it's the store owner and customer talking, sounds like store owner promised 9.8 grades then got defensive with CGC's grading to account for his lack of grading skills. Would have had an argument if the UFs were 9.6, but 9.2//9.0, c'mon!
  2. USPS scales probably has some margin of error (to account for a booger or a piece of tape/dirt picked up somewhere). I think that should be ok.
  3. On a 9.8... "Ok, as well as it should be" on the UFs... "they switched it out, it's not the same book that I sent"... "this should have been a 9.8 all the way"... "Go to CGX, what a load of , overpriced garbage"
  4. Not popular, but I liked Larsen's Spidey art (storyline not too much though). Not sure about JRJR.
  5. Takes a noble heart to do this and I respect you for that. Most people (myself too, I admit) would have milked people/organizations for it. One man's garbage is another man/nation's treasure. You can't say it has no value if people will take measures to restore it.
  6. I guess these 2 guys took the truths to their graves. And each had their own version of their truths leaving us to side with one or the other. From the above read, communication just stopped without really giving a reason why. Ripple effects were described in detail but it's still a blank panel as to why. My take is they were just being childish with pride taking over until they both forgot/blurred what they fighting over.
  7. So, if you reholder these again to a regular blue label, do you effectively lose the restoration classification? Sounds dodgy.
  8. The answer below can also apply to the question above: "It's not a matter of can't..... It's a matter of won't..... there are too many projects to deal with each day and there's not enough time in a day.I'm not about to undertake another project to appease a couple people, I focus my time on things that generate money.I'm not alone, the opinion of many other people in this thread speaks volumes about the under grading"
  9. Thanks. Yup already did, waiting to hear from them. Hopefully its on the outer sleeve and no gum touching the book.
  10. Received back a slab today I had reholdered and noticed that there were a lot of sticky smudges inside. It's not outside since I cannot feel it nor wipe it off nor see the gum on an angle. I know that die cut covers exhibit some mild flecking, but this is ugly.
  11. Thanks. That's quite a while back, so it is rare if any that he does signings. Hopefully someone here can facilitate, pretty sure it will generate some interest.
  12. Does he ever do signings? I rarely see a CGC SS book pop up. Has anyone here facilitated with him?
  13. Funny how other people say 9.6s are still good, but deep inside something ain't right when you see them in a stack of 9.8s. Some (or most) of us are weird.
  14. Its not any different from ebay sellers that post upper hundred dollar books with 'Best Offers' that come back to you with $5 - $10 discounts. Too lazy to set the auto-decline feature.
  15. The article above says there is still a limited number of the 2019 labels reserved for reholder. I would like to have an SS book reholdered with the Avengers label, is this label still available? If I submit asking for this desired lable but its no longer in stock, what will happen? Do you pick one for me, or do you put on just a regular label? Or will I get contacted indicating which one is still available? Thanks much!
  16. Yep! I was at a crossroads last week of purchasing a Stan Lee or a Turner signed book, chose the latter. I tend to snatch up any affordable SS Turner that I see.
  17. For some reason I like Turner's rendition of Supergirl. I wish I had an SS book of his.
  18. If he paid, then nothing "fishy" here
  19. That is complete BS. It clearly shows label and actual are the same. Does ebay make these shipping adjustments, or do they get some sort of report from the USPS? Ebay would have no way of evaluating the actual dimensions and weight when you ship it out. Shady way for ebay to enforce something they don't measure. I got 2 credit adjustments in the past and it said something about the actual weight being lighter than what I paid for, so I assume USPS does some QA from time to time. I round up the dimensions/weight.
  20. I see (rarely) SS books signed in the back, but a very few that says signed on page x. What is the reason for having an SS book without seeing the sig? Perhaps a perception of keeping the book "pristine" while having a yellow label designation?
  21. I remember we had a book set listing the current president as John F. Kennedy. It was not an encyclopedia, but the volume set was called "The Book of Knowledge".
