  1. My favorite EC cover....ever. Signed by Bill Gaines. Scott
  2. I have posted all of these in my own thread during the past year but some of you horror fans might not have seen them. I thought they should be in this great area on the boards too. Scott
  3. Ummm.....that is a very large amount of turtles. Welcome to the Boards TMNTerminator!!! Congrats on your room! All of my books/toys ect are in climate controlled storage with the exception of 6 boxes filled with my CGC's and mylar/full backed issues which are in a closet. Maybe I will have my own room one day......yes....one day. Scott
  4. Steve, your 'habit' is terryfying for the rest of us mere salaried boys. Your collecting at a stunning rate. And I know you've been collecting for a fair while, but of late, you've hoovered up a good portion of the cream of the books entering the market place! Got to take a breath there bud, and leave a little room for the rest of us So what have you got your eye on on the clink auction... so I know NOT what to waste my time bidding on p.s it's almost a rhetorical statement... but truly some superb pckups there!!! I actually was fortunate enough to outbid him on a book about a month ago, so it can be done. Scott
  5. Man, necrophilia and the 50's. I'll bet the Beav and Wally never read this issue. Beyond sweet book Jay. Scott
  6. Did you win a Toys'R'Us shopping spree !?! I like the Ebay maroons who list the Marvels with the Toys R Us contest and think that the book is worth 3000 dollars and say so in their description. What a hoot. Nice Cap by the way. Scott
  7. Gorgeous Wolverton WTOF. That is on my want-list. Congrats. Scott
  8. The history major in me loves this cover....nothing like some dead Redcoats to scare the bejeezus out of you. Nice pick-ups Sterling. Scott
  9. Forever People baby!!!! Good job topofthetotem! Make sure you read it now...it is a hoot seeing Mantis cower in the shadow of Darseid. I love those books. Scott
  10. As long as the words "junk", "trunk" and "greggy" are not in the same sentence I will be ok......sort of. Scott
  11. Unless I missed it in someone else's post....noone has mentioned that beautiful Alex Raymond Secret Agent X-9 strip.....what is wrong with you people? Heathens! My God, what an assortment of museum quality items you have BZ. Scott
  12. He mentioned to me that he had built several collections of books and would get tired of them and move them along. He would then find a new interest and build another. He would take alot of the proceeds from the sale of other books and turn them into ones that fit his new interest. Guy was one of the first friends that I made when I got back into comics again. I purchased alot of his seconds and still have most of them. He works like a dog and with the impending birth of his child, comics are definitely second string to him. I don't want to come across as if I am talking for him, but I respect the hell out of him and feel that I have gotten to know him a little bit over the past 4+ years. Plus, he plays a mean guitar. Scott
  13. Yep...the rest of his stash is coming to me...expect a parade of these books here (probably this weekend) before I go silently into the dark and creepy night. He's officially sold out. His wife is also expecting soon so please e-mail and congratulate or provide sympathies. Heck....I'm the one who told him he would make a great dad and said he should go for it. Guy is a great...well...guy. I was sorry to see him get out...but this is not the first collection he has built...and I don't expect it to be the last. Scott
  14. Paid a bit more for this as well, but such a cool cover! Didn't want to post it too soon after reading your post though. Drop daid saxy, that book she is! Scott
  15. My favorite Silver age series Spectre cover and a very nice pedigree to boot. I love this book. Also, I have a very interesting question to pose about it. Please see the question in a stand alone thread in CG. Give me a few minutes to type it up....but here is my new copy in the meantime. Scott
  16. Thanks Jay...nice copy yourself. I totally agree about the grade/price acceptance issue. If it is a nice looking copy, 4.5-8.0 will do just fine to me in the pre-code horror genre. Cream pages are also acceptable. I picked up a 9.2 copy of a nice Harvey a few months ago that I plan to scan soon. It is just a small corner away from 9.4 and I got it for less than guide. Those are the books I like the most. Scott
  17. Thanks Angelo. Not really sure what my goal is for some of these Harvey's, but if one hits a chord, then it might just make it into my collection. I have lowered my grading requirements for pre-code books as too many of them simply don't exist in uber-high grade, and even if they did, I couldn't afford them. I have never really concentrated on runs before, but have started the past couple of years. I finished my Adventure 431-440 Spectre run in 9.4 or better and am still working on my Fourth World and Avengers 1-200 run. The latter will take me quite a few years as I am only about 52% done. There are alot of books out there and only so much in funds to aquire them with, but I try to get the best I can on books that I think are cool. Working on the Kirby books and Avengers is the most focused I have even been, but I like to deviate from time to time. Scott
