  1. I was speaking about some of the more abrasive personalities but I didn't specify that. I don't consider you abrasive, so it had nothing to do with you.
  2. He's been here for 4.5 years and as far as I know hasn't ripped anyone off, has he? That's not me making excuse for his past, but at what point does a person start to get benefit of the doubt again? I know some people don't like his style of posting, but hey that's most of the chat forum for some people. Has Chip done anything fraudulent to anyone here since he's arrived? Money management is not a genetic trait and if their parents don't teach it, many are not taught it until they fall a few times. That was the case for me.
  3. I'm wondering why nothing I've done on these boards as far as transactions has any merit in that "fact." A lot of boardies have bought from me on eBay as well. None of those transactions have had any issues or are worth "losing trust" over. Also, I've used the donated funds for exactly what I said I would use them for. I'm wondering what the other sites have to do with anything right now. One of those was 15 years ago, I believe. I don't remember all three links but I know they were all years ago. Am I not entitled to try and improve aspects of my life?
  4. To be fair, I didn't say pressing causes waves in the new holder.
  5. Well, that's fine. Over the last 36 months I've had over 25,000 transactions with less than 50 returns (not all related to damage). I'm sorry, but that sample size does NOT illustrate "luck." That means I know what I'm doing. If some people are pickier than my shipping method and don't want to request boxed shipping for more money, then so be it. You can't win 'em all.
  6. It is only rare if 270,000 buyers are seeking it and the demand exceeds the supply So, people who are fixated on population reports and manufactured scarcity need to acknowledge the "if a tree falls in the woods and nobody hears it crash, did it really fall" in that even if there's a low print run on something nobody cares about, does that make it valued? The whole debate of the true 1/1 one of a kind collectibles in Original Art would say that a page from a popular book should be valued the same as a page from an unpopular book because there is just 1 of 1 for each, but it's that supply/demand chain effect that makes one more valued than others and some rendered near worthless due to lack of hobby interest. So, if comic book collectors clamor and drool over these low print runs they'd probably get a heart attack over the joy of being the one and only one cornering the market on one of a kind collectibles if they ever transitioned into original published art (forget about sketch covers and commissions, they're not the same). Comic collectors be wary and observe what has happened and is happening with the sports card industry with their "parallel" inserts and crash numbering marketing, where there's a glut of manufactured collectibles, marketed better than comics in terms of accountability since all releases are individually numbered with their own serial number. The publishers always try to out-do themselves. Initially "variants" were reserved for special landmark issues, now they're a dime a dozen and monthly occurrences at publishers like Zenescope, IDW, Boom and even Marvel and DC, whether it's a short print or not, it's manufactured to get people to buy with a purposeful target of the investor/speculator or completest collector.
  7. Sure. I remember the time RMA posted a book heating up, and some guy whose name rhymes with limp weenie bought several copies off eBay before RMA revealed he was making it up. Like that?
  8. Considering this is a thread about 'how to make quick money off of comics on eBay', anything pertaining to the PERCEIVED VALUE of a comic would be a bullseye ON TARGET for the thread. As an example, someone starts posting that Buttaface #1 is the hottest book on eBay and has a print run of only 5,000 copies, and he knows this because blah, blah, blah... Well, one day you SEE 10 copies on the shelf at your local comic store... but you check the forum thread on your phone one last time to be sure, before you spend that $40 (£27) on those copies and.... ... the truth is it had a print run of 50,000.... wouldn't that be nice to find out before you spent that money? OR.... you never find out the truth until it's too late, because the people who want to shed light on these things give up and say, "The heck with it, let those dirty flippers eat each other."? Of course, you could be one of those people who know the truth already, and you WANT that misinformation out there as long as possible, so you can essentially take advantage of those without it. The only people who fear the truth are the one's taking advantage of people because of the lies. So you have to make the decision (and maybe you already have): Do you want to be a dirty flipper who doesn't really care about the hobby, you just want to sell overpriced crud to unsuspecting dupes on eBay, OR do you want to become a real comic book collector who loves the hobby and wants to be educated on all aspects of it? If it's the former, then start putting the truth tellers on ignore. It'll shorten the threads you want to get information from and avert your eyes from the truth. If it's the latter, well.... the information is available to you all over this forum. For free.
  9. Why torture yourself? Why prance into a thread all annoyed and announce it? If you don't like what some people have to say, put them on ignore. I must have 30 people on ignore at this point (and about 10 more just today) and it makes life so much easier. And here's hint: Don't ever peek! Who said something about getting tortured. It just amazes me how people doesn't have a life to be debating about nonsense! Who has more knowledge etc!

Oh... it isn't torture... it amazes me that a couple people always argue about print runs for 48 hours straight every couple months... comichron this... comichron that... it's pure gold here for me... I got to post a picture of Wayne and Garth in moderns heating up... far as I'm concerned I'm already in the green for the year... with the exception of those 500 copies of X-Force 19 I'm sitting on...
  11. I'm with you on that. I bid on an inexpensive book on eBay once that had free shipping. I bid something like 20 bucks, but I was the only bidder, so I won at the starting bid of $5. Book came First Class in an envelope, nothing more. Seller said, "Hey, it was 5 bucks with free shipping, what did you expect?" I expected you to spend the extra 20 cents it would have cost to put a couple pieces of cardboard in. I don't even leave it to chance now. Unless they specifically state how they ship I always ask and then I almost always offer extra money for better packaging. What size and thickness do you use? I buy in bulk and it's under .20 a sheet, but you may use better quality stuff than I do. the uline 8.5 x 11 sheets do pretty well and are ~ .07 cheaper not sub .20 - but getting close ( .24 each if ordering 500) - uline also has free ground shipping if you spend enough.
  12. it's your opinion that there's misinformation being spread. It's their opinion that there isn't. Third time I've checked the board today... an saw this thread ran up to at least 25 new posts... honestly... I can loan you guys a ruler if necessary....
