  1. It happens every other week. Its not an argument. Its you telling people they're wrong. Everyone knows they're wrong and that variants are not printed based on ratios. But PLEASE do we need to discuss this every five minutes? No. Just make a different thread and post it in here when someone says something stupid about how there are only x number of Venom variants ect. Well said

  3. There's nothing wrong with people making good faith estimates based on the data that we do have. And yes, some people on these boards are privy to more data than others. It's only when the same two or three "print run estimate police" feel the constant need to vomit their repetitive opinions over and over and over again that the conversation goes sideways. -J. Those 3 certain people are correct in pointing out your folly. Maybe if you did not foolishly imply a print run of 400 on that Venom cover? Hmmmmm It's the blatant dishonesty and misinformation that caught my attention. Yea you can try your nonsensical banter about me being a "newb" but that will not validate your purposeful lies. I'm sorry but I'm compelled to call you on your bs because I think you know better. That actually makes you a lier. NOT CALLING NAMES...JUST AN EDUCATED ASSUMPTION USING THE FACTS ON HAND.

  5. What's your point? That wasn't an incentive variant.
  6. No one with any actual knowledge of the process has EVER stated this anywhere. It is speculation made up by jaydog. There is absolutely no proof of it anywhere. Fact. And every time you or jay repeat it, I'll remind everyone of this. +1 This misinformation is repeated over and over again. Understand, dear reader, that you're being told fiction as if it were fact, and those telling that fiction are then accusing others of the very thing they do. These are facts, established, undeniable, documentable: 1. The print runs of incentive variants ARE NOT...repeat, ARE NOT...tied to their DISTRIBUTION RATIOS in any meaningful way. We know this is an established fact, because many, many of these variants have been sold after their initial release by Diamond and the publishers, sometimes LONG after, and not in trivial quantities. If the print runs of the incentive variants were tied DIRECTLY to their ORDER numbers, there would be nothing but trivial amounts available after the fact, if any at all. We know this isn't true, because of the later sales of these variants, so it cannot be assumed to be true for ANY of the program. 2. Marvel, DC, and some others DO NOT release their print run information for these incentive variants. 3. It is NOT FRAUD that the publishers print more than the "ratio" would suggest, because those numbers are DISTRIBUTION numbers, not PRINT RUN numbers, and they are advertised as such. The suggestion that the program is a "fraud" if the publishers don't "print to order" (or very close to it) is a red herring: the publishers don't offer any sort of guarantee as to the limited nature of the print runs in the first place. In other words: how can a "claim" be fraudulent if it's never made at all? 4. The numbers at Comichron are estimates of sales in North America for the Direct market. They DO NOT include sales to the rest of the English-speaking world, they DO NOT include sales (if applicable) to the newsstand market, and they DO NOT reveal what was actually printed. Therefore, anyone coming along and saying "well, the print run for the regular book was around 23,000, so that must mean the 1:50....let me do some quick math here....only has 460 copies on the market!" doesn't understand the program, or chooses not to understand the program, and is telling you things that aren't true. You have to ask yourself: why do a handful of people keep repeating this misinformation, when they have been corrected over and over again? And....you also have to ask yourself why people tolerate it when it's done? And....you also have to ask yourself why, when these things are brought up, that those trying to assert these fictions rush to hyperbole by saying things like "oh, well, I guess there are just millions of them sitting in warehouses somewhere by the pallet, right???" No. No one's saying that. But the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. In other words, just because we don't know how much the publishers print, doesn't mean we can't understand how the program works, and that we can demonstrate that distribution ratios are not tied to print runs.
  7. not sure if insulting the company that is providing a free service for you to sell your books at no cost to you is such a great idea. I get that you aren't happy with the new slabs but really turdslab? Also insulting 3 board members in the same post, wowsers I guess I need to update my sales rules to on Greggy while I make money Hector, I agree completely. Our hosts do a lot of live and let live on their own company site. This is remarkable in an age of hyper corporate conformity and group think. I try to imagine other big businesses running an open website on these terms for any other product and its hard to come up with examples that would compare. You guys need to re-read this and Roy's sales threads. There is not so subtle shade being directed at Roy (NOT CGC) for selling a book that was also listed on Ebay. And can we talk about the grade A person_too_unaware_of_social_graces comment made by Columbia Comics in Roy's sales thread? Despicable. I had a buddy notify me about this conversation. I don't understand why some people get their knickers in a twist by the most innocuous things but here I am defending myself again. I always thought Comeaux and I were cool with each other but maybe I rubbed him the wrong way at some point. My apologies if I did. It's a Holiday weekend up here in Canada and I've been busy all weekend, but something came up and I decided to quickly put the books up for sale on a whim while I had a moment. I had the books listed on Facebook as well as on eBay but I completely forgot that I had them on eBay and after editing Facebook to accommodate the chat forum rules. It was an honest mistake, which sometimes happens. It's a busy life and I have 6 teenage kids, coach two soccer teams, etc, etc. Apologies if anyone was offended by my double listing the books. I listed the Hulk #181 CGC 9.4 as a CGC 9.4 that I thought was a 9.5 looking book. the guy I bought the book from (Foolkiller) also thought it had a shot at 9.6. So either two transparent, reputable, long term board members who know how to grade and have a lot to offer to this chat forum are fibbing or we really both believe it's a very nice 9.4 comic with a shot at 9.6. If you talk to CGC graders, even they will use the term '9.5' or whatever mid grade you are talking about, because the reality is that some books are actually nice for the grade. This brings us round to the point that even CGC grading is subjective and on any given day a good looking book that receives a given grade one day could upgrade on another day. Anyhow, regardless of who someone has an issue with, I just wish if someone had a problem they'd go to the person directly to clear it up before making some sort of big debacle out of it as that is the way most problems are amicably resolved.
  8. It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world today....
