  3. Just for fun, I thought I would also offer some vintage comic pinbacks from the same era as the Mickey Mouse magazines. If you are interested in this type of material, please check out my pinbacks website (www.pinbacks.com) where I document nearly a thousand vintage comic pinbacks from my personal collection.
  4. And finally, I am selling a rare raw copy of Mickey Mouse Magazine Vol. 5 No. 9 from June 1940. This issue is the first one in the run to transition from magazine to comic book dimensions. The title only ran for three more issues before folding to become the famous Walt Disney's Comics and Stories title. Tough black cover that shows a number of spine tics. Very light subscription crease that only breaks color at the bottom of the cover and across the end of Donald's beak. Book is tight and staples are firmly attached. Back cover has some light soiling and a subscription stamp. Interior is problem-free (again, no writing on the puzzles) with cream to off-white page quality. This is a solid copy of a tough book with only 5 examples on the CGC census. If you want to pay Overstreet guide price for this rarity, kindly find another seller! Very Good (+) condition. My price is $350.00.
  5. Next is a January 1939 copy of Mickey Mouse Magazine Vol. 4 No. 4 graded CGC 4.5 with cream to off-white pages. Great cover of Donald Duck reacting to a black cat while he is delivering a package to 1313 13th Ave (beautiful covers like this one compelled me to start collecting this title in the first place). Book presents great as a 4.5 - no noteworthy problems, missing pieces, severe creases or tears - just a patina of wear from actually reading the book! $150.00. SOLD!
  6. First, I am offering a very nice raw copy of Mickey Mouse Magazine Vol. 3 No. 8 from May 1938. Dust shadows on front and back covers. Book is tight and staples are firmly attached. Not one color-breaking fold or crease on the cover! Very minor edge wear along spine. There is an edge bump on the top right of front cover. 1/8" tear on middle of left back cover. Interior pages are cream to off-white and very supple. No puzzle has been worked in the book, which is very unusual for books like this. Cool ad for Mickey Mouse wrist watch on back cover. Another ad for Big Little Books on the interior back cover. Gorgeous example of an 85-year-old comic magazine! Fine condition. $180.00. SOLD!
  7. Hi Everyone, This is my second ever sales thread on the CGC boards. Please be gentle. General Rules No PL/HOS members. The first "take it" posted in the sales thread wins. If we reach a deal via PM, you need to post "take it" in the sales thread. If someone else takes the book in the thread before you, the earliest thread poster is the winner. Payment I accept PayPal, personal checks, and money orders for total sales under $1000. I only accept personal checks or money orders for total sales above $1000. When the thread is over, an invoice will be sent with payment instructions. Payment required within 10 calendar days of invoice or the item will be available for sale again. Shipping USA: You pay exact cost of USPS priority postage with signature required. Canada: You pay exact cost of FedEx delivery. Insurance is optional but encouraged and at your cost. Returns/Refunds I will accept returns on raw books and pinbacks within 30 days of your receipt, as long as items are returned to me in the same condition as I shipped. There are no returns on CGC graded books. If you need more pictures of a book or pinback, just let me know. About Me I've been collecting comics books since the early 1980s. Expanded my collecting to original comic art in the 1990s. I'm also crazy about platinum and golden age comic-related memorabilia: pinbacks, premiums, posters, advertising, toys, books, etc. I try to channel @Robot Man with my collecting pursuits, but my collection is not nearly as broad, deep, or cool as his junkpile. eBay handle is lansdown. 4500+ feedback since 1998 with no negatives. I have had successful transactions on the CGC boards with @Ricksneatstuff, @goldenacase, @ft88, @Frisco Larson, @eyersman, @jbpez, @westform, @Eric10, @TC33, @Obrie2tm, @thejudge01, @Readcomix, and more. I also run a website where I document some of my early comic pinbacks: www.pinbacks.com
  8. Same thing happened to me with an Al Wiseman Dennis the Menace story from the 1950s. I purchased page one of the story and then years later, I bought the second page. Still on the hunt for the remaining pages!
  9. Here's an example of this pinback from my collection. I've owned 2-3 of these pinbacks over the years, and they are pretty scarce. Very cool piece of early comic memorabilia!
  10. I read the title of this thread in shock. Rich and I were trading e-mails just last month - he was interested in acquiring some of the large Tuck mechanical valentines that featured early comic characters like Buster Brown, Little Nemo, Foxy Grandpa, and the Katzenjammer Kids. I knew his health was not good when he begged off talking on the phone, but I had no idea how serious his condition was. I originally met Rich through my pinback website, and he was a generous source of knowledge about comics and comic memorabilia. Years ago, when I told Rich that I finally finished my Yellow Kid pinback set, he sounded just as happy as me! Rich was a true icon of the comic collecting world, and I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace, good friend.
  11. Ok, this picture seals it. The next official Colorado Comic Meeting is at your house!
  12. I still have lots of the early gen labels - I prefer to spend money on more comic books versus money on re-slabbing fees!
  13. Incredible books! Did the grades match your expectations?
  14. One of my favorite threads of the year. It's always fun to see the comic treasure amassed by everyone over the past 12 months. Thanks to @Cat-Man_America for keeping this fun tradition going! 2022 was another good year for my comic collection. Since I like almost everything in the Golden Age comic pool, my buying tends to be meandering and eclectic. No master collecting plan here! This is probably the only thread entry in CGC boards history that includes scans of Bulletman and Dennis the Menace. Here are 10 of my favorite GA books acquired in 2022 (Four Color 148 was won at auction a few hours ago and represents my final(?) GA purchase of 2022):
  15. Great example, Greg! Call me when you want to sell this daily to raise money for more Peanuts Sundays...
  16. This thread needs a new title: Fawcett Books can be so Damn Cheap (But Not Always)
  17. Not as dramatic as @Robot Man's books, but here is an example of a Fiction House book that I bought in 8.5 and then "upgraded" to a 7.5 because I liked the colors better.
  18. Golden age books are my usual domain, but Adams Batman books always find a place in my collection. The artwork is spectacular, and these books still represent a good value, even in today's high-flying market.
