  1. This is why I take all my own pics with my books on the same table, leaning against the wall. Never want anyone to have doubts. Used to drive me nuts (still kinda does) when people supposedly have all these books but don’t care enough to add pictures to their sets! This possible cheat was made a bit easier once CGC started scanning all books.
  2. The only thing they got right is Jimmy. I have zero faith in DC/WB after what they’ve put the fans through the past decade.
  3. Hello @CGC Mike I hope all is well! For the record, I was upset for a little while but have evidently gotten over it. This thread can also be about forgiveness, and I just picked this up, which is a sign of forgiveness on my part! It looks every bit a 9.9 to me and set me back s few bucks. Because of this message, I don’t think this is necessarily off topic. Thanks for all you do, sincerely.
  4. I remember first seeing this picture… was probably the first (of many) times I swore I was going to stop using CGC. So disappointing to see these type of shenanigans behind the scenes. I wouldn’t lay on the floor with my books, and would rather nobody else does either… even if they do claim to be “most trusted.”
  5. Where in the world did you find that? Pun intended. Congrats!!
  6. He lied. He likes to act like one of us… he’s a good ol’ boy collector, grader, restorer He might have been at one point but he is no longer.., he’s the President of CGC (probably making bank) and he lied straight up to the entire community! No excuses, this case that case … he lied and thought he’d get a pass cause he’s one of the boys. Well, he’s clearly NOT. He lied!
  7. Matt Nelson lied his off and should be ing fired or resign! I don’t give one single about this case or that case or what he thought he was talking about, or what the definition of “is” “is.” There were ing employees inside CGC pulling ing scams.. stealing OUR books, grading them, manipulating labels, and selling them. He was asked point blank and lied!!! ”Worlds most trusted” my ! He lied!!!!!
  8. The thing I can’t get past is that the world’s “most trusted third party grader” hired these employees. CGC was then so lackadaisical in their processes that these employees were able to steal, grade, and sell customer’s books while in CGC’s employment. I’m completely forgetting about the reholder scandal at the moment. There simply has got to be some kind of standard. We MUST demand something more of this company. CGC is supposed to be THE PINNACLE. I mean, how many times am I supposed to let a Barber screw up my haircut before I look for a new Barber? Changes have simply got to be made… I am certain CGC will be fine… there are tons of shops submitting tons of variants to sell, they’ll make money and 99.9% of buyers won’t know a thing about how the company is mismanaged, or this scandal… they just see their 50th variant of how Harley Quinn destroyed DC encapsulated in plastic and swoon. But man, I just hit my personal limit for giving a about CGC until they truly fix themselves. I’m so irritated because I put so much trust in this company and so much effort into locating books THEY gave high grades. I loved the registry but now I see they were just playing me all along… current CGC leadership doesn’t give a about us, or this hobby and they won’t get another dime from me until they EARN it. Oh, and I don’t give a what a CCG graded AC 1 sells for on Heritage! They are crooks too!
  9. The dude that runs the FB group is obviously a commie.
  10. Totally agree! The problem is all the timing of these incidences. CGC appears to (maybe) have had this under wraps and (maybe) was indeed not going to go public. Don’t know, but do know the Terrazas issue pre-dates 9.9newsstand discovering swapped slabs. The swapping scandal came to light ONLY due to a vigilant collector! Did CGC know? Were they going to let us know? We’ll never know for sure now either. Then the President does an interview and says “no inside job.” About THAT scandal. Super bad look now! Then this happens… sure, MAYBE it’s unrelated to the swap scandal but INSIDE JOB!! Did the 9.9newsstand reveal force CGC to go after Terrazas because it’s just a component of larger problems yet to be revealed? Were they going to keep it all quiet otherwise? Thing is, we’ll never know if they were initially going to cover it all up or not. All I know is that from my personal viewpoint there has been enough incompetence at this point (both in running the business and handling the aftermath of scandals) that CGC no longer deserves MY loyalty or business until major changes, and even admissions take place. Edit: should have added that in the swap scandal it appears most people (including myself) are convinced it affects many more than 350 books… also no transparency how books are removed from list. Another BAD look from CGC.
  11. Honestly though, the SS brand was (IMO) destroyed when they started giving 9.8’s to books that had “art” burned into the covers. Nothing against the “art” but there’s a time and a place, as they say and maybe a CGC “9.8” isn’t the place for burned paper.
  12. I think part of the problem is the emphasis they put on social media, particularly once the pandemic kicked off. Suddenly they’ve got their employees out there talking up their product. Look at IG right now and they are out there with videos at Megacon… videos I will say add absolutely zero value. Personally I don’t care who grades, slabs, does QC, or runs their company. I don’t care if they are “comic people.” What should be important is consistent and fair grading and encapsulation. THEY made personality important, and when they promoted Nelson to President we were all supposed to be impressed… I was happy for him. It was as much a PR stunt due to his credibility in the hobby as it may have been merit based. I don’t want IG videos or any other stunts, I want quality services. This experiment has failed and the company is being ran into the ground. Time to change or become irrelevant. I was able to forgive when it may have been just an outsider and CGC was able to play the victim, but this insider stuff is ABSOLUTELY unforgivable. They hired these people and then provided the conditions for this to happen. Lastly, no matter the legalities or timing of Nelson’s comments on Youtube, he knew things we didn’t and IMO I feel either lied to or extremely misled by him. Going back to them making it as much about personality as quality, this is probably why he did the interview. An actual President would have probably issued a statement and rode it out, then issued another statement when this case hit… instead we get this poorly run company dragged on social media where they put their foot squarely into their mouth. I seriously can’t do business with this company or their services/products until they hold more than the thieves accountable. This problem all starts at the top.
  13. I think much of that is self inflected and was pure greed. They announce signing upon signing upon signing… if they weren’t prepared to properly secure people’s books they should have tempered that eagerness for massive profits with a little common sense. Now we get to see how it turned out.
  14. In order to restore confidence CGC needs new leadership. All these issues in the last couple years…holder swapping, thieving employees, QC issues, getting into bed with substantiated scammers at certain auction houses, the ridiculous tone the company has set on social media… (dumb holiday videos and pimping out their signings), not to mention signers know whose books they are working on! You never even really know when you will see your books again either. Convincing us Newton Rings are “normal” CGC is lucky they have LOYAL customers, or maybe ignorant ones that aren’t paying attention. As much as I want them to succeed they actually DESERVE to fail at this point. This is literally a joke now. CGC is being turned into nothing but a gimmick under current leadership. It is a clear case of the Fox guarding the Hen House. Letting graders/employees submit and sell books… but you better stay anonymous! Seriously!! Keep experts in grading but get a business person in charge of the business. The President may not have “lied” in a legal sense regarding an inside person on one scandal, but while also having knowledge of this issue, he sure as heck misled a ton of pretty loyal customers that really do want to see this company succeed, either because of the pure love of the hobby, or financial reasons. It’s clear that although Nelson may be a comic book authority, he is wholly unqualified to run a half a billion dollar company. Employees were able to steal our books, grade them, and sell them!! Let THAT sink in a minute. There is a clear loss of trust and confidence regarding CGC leadership and for the Company’s survival it’s time to clean house. I have submitted/bought my last CGC graded book until I see a real visible effort by them to right this sinking ship.
  15. At this point I think that the integrity of the entire CGC process is so compromised that they should allow everyone (especially FREE “members”) to submit one book of our choosing to be awarded the coveted 9.8 grade. Shoot, seems like everyone else got what they wanted! Are Terrazas’ books anywhere on “a list” for us to check? What’s the point anymore? Seriously! The world’s most trusted third party grader hires thieves that steal customer’s property, slam books in whatever label, etc. Now speculate about the integrity of the SS program if one dude can put whatever book with whatever label. I think this is the literal tip of the iceberg! P.S. forgot to mention that they then provide so little oversight that the thieves can do this.
  16. Could have sworn some higher up at CGC went on some Youtube channel and said there was no CGC employee involved in swapping books I guess you have to be more specific with your line of questioning when asking about tampered books these days, and specify WHICH books exactly I understand the need to keep this information close hold until court filing, but the timing of that interview and statements made therein is a horrible look in hindsight. Obviously employees were involved in AT LEAST this issue, and with the lack of oversight and QC issues there is no telling how bad the problem was/is! So so so disappointed right now!
  17. This thread needed a bump… Got this back from CGC yesterday… second 9.8. Got this one back a little while ago… lone 9.8, and one of only two graded. Really don’t understand why there isn’t more interest in key issues of these?
  18. Thanks for checking in on us here! I agree... it's been a lot of fun learning from other collectors (who are also passionate about their collections) ways to better present your sets/books.
  19. Thank you! I appreciate you taking a look at it! The cape was a lot of fun to make… the one that came with the statue was poly stone and it arrived broken, which motivated me. Last I checked Spinner Rack wasn’t taking orders so I think I got lucky with that. Would still love to have a vintage rack someday but I imagine (unless I get lucky) it’ll be outside my budget.
  20. Thank you! There was a point when I was seriously thinking about deleting my competitive set so I made the custom set… then it just started growing into its own bigger thing. Right now I’ve been working on tracking down all the later prints of the DoS TPB, which has been a lot of fun.
