I was going through my scans and found this one. I can't remember seeing an Uncle Milty anywhere on the boards previously
-
looks like you need to update your signature line to reflect the recent addition.
Here is the last 10center for the JLA
-
coming from you, that is quite a compliment!
Here is my copy of Showcase 4. I think that this has amatuer color touch on the spine by Earl of Passport Comics
-
another showcase to add to the thread
-
it certainly is nice to know that some of my books could start a bidding war.
-
As FFB reminded me, this was also in the lot. There was 8 books in the lot. 2 bigger books 2 mid sized books (B&B1 and Atom 1 ) and 4 other books
-
Honestly I don't remember. It was about 9 years ago b4 I found ebay. what stood out the most was that shipping and insurance was over 17% of the purchase price. I think I got a few % back 5 years later after there was some kind of class action lawsuit over the absurd charges
here is the Flash 105 that was part of the lot as well
-
I'll add one of the Showcase's to the thread
-
since you asked and I now have my books uploaded, here is another one from my Soetheby's win
-
I am surprised that nobody has posted a # 1yet. I got this one from my one and only auction from Soethbys. It was a throw in. The main books were Flash 105 and Showcase 8
-
How could you possibly do a group shot. 500 books in a picture is beyond anything I could imagine let alone over 1000.
I guess I could be considered your competition, but not really. I am much happier with a 5.5-8.0 at a low price, and I have virtually no books slabbed.
As a direct result of the Poll and this thread I am now up to 91 different books. Since I am an Actuary and a numbers person by nature I am analyzing how many I have from the different 100's. For example I only have 1 in the 100's but have 14 in the 1100's.
At the moment most of the ones I have have not been shown so I will try to add some when I get time.
Here is a beautiful 1313 that I just got in a trade with Boomtown
and here is the latest list. Still looking for trades of for the others.
25 I gave it to my daughter since she is a big Panda fan

to whomever is making a list of what has been posted here, below is a list of the Four Colors that I currently have. Feel free to PM me if there are any you see that have not been posted. I will try to scan them for posting.
In case anybody had not heard, I am trying to get ALL of the Four Colors AND I am trying to do it ONLY with trading. My goal is to end up with over 500 different issues by the end of 2007. For the most part I have found trading much more fun than buying and/or selling.

Since I already own a nice Superboy 1 that I bought off ebay about 7 years ago. I would go for the MF 53
-
Found this one in my own storage. Did not realize that I had traded for it with a LCS last year.
-
so is anybody keeping count of how many books we have seen here?
I can see that bullet probably has the best quality FC books around, but dio you actually have all of the 1300+ books in the series? Simply amazing.
I am enjoying seeing all the gorgeous copies.
-
I would definately take the Famous Funnies over the Detective
Much harder choice for the Supes vs New Comics. With Action 1 being my grail followed by Supes 1, I would be very tempted by Supes, but I think I would go for the Amazing high grade of the much harder to find New Comics. If the Supes was unrestored even in a bit lower grade I might swing the other way
-
Yes It was actually the cartoon that I saw as a kid. I remembered the depiction of the golden ratio and other things quite distinctly. I was only 4 in 59 so it must have showed later. I think it was on the Sunday night Wonderful World of Color from the early sixties It was because of the cartoon that i wanted the comic.
I would love to see the half sheet.
-
This thread was inspiring me to try to go for a full run of Four Colors until I saw yours.
I realizied that starting off with only 100 or so and even trying to get decent copies would take the rest of my life and more $$$$$$ than i want to invest there. I still want to try to get a really nice assortment of FC's and would love to trade for the ones that I don't have.
Since I am an Actuary I have always loved this one and even have it on display in my office.
-
I agree one of the easier choices
ACTION 1 is the grail of all grails. I would take it in a second.
of course I do already have a decent copy of All Star # 3 looks vert nice but has a split from staple to staple
-
-
Mine is likely to be fairly similar to other DC collectors
Action #1
Superman # 1
Detective # 27
All American # 16 (First Green Lantern)
and
Flash Comics # 1
-
ok here is a Cherry Poptart # 1 it is copyrighted in 1982
Not sure if it is a reprint or not, but based upon my Classics Illustrated training it might be as there is an add inside the back cover which has an HRN of 3 including images ot all 3 issues.
between my copies of # 1 and # 2 the "publisher" in the upper left corner changed from "Yetzler & Goniff" to " Yentzer & Gonif"
-
I did not know that eithe, thanks. Since Overstreet ignores Adult material, what publication can be used to find out esoteric details about erotic comics?
inside the front cover is says Printing No. 10 9 8 7 6 so is this the 5th or 6th printing?

Golden Age Collection
in Golden Age Comic Books
Posted
Yes Bang please keep posting them ( without cropping the tops if possible)
Since you have no plans on selling at all for the forseeable future I see no harm in posting the scans of the marvelous books.
The only issue that I could see would be if you were palnning on going the "Press and clean" route in which case the history of the scans could be used as a reference point. As an editorial comment PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THESE WORKED ON. I am certain that you could retire tommorow and live for the rest of your life based upon what these books would bring.
I would recommend that you try to get CGC to give the books a pedigree and have a small quantity of the graded so you can see what they come up with. Also try to get them in the book on pedigrees as soon as possible. All of this should help the eventual sales value of the books for whenever you or you heirs do sell.
