  1. Yes Bang please keep posting them ( without cropping the tops if possible)

Since you have no plans on selling at all for the forseeable future I see no harm in posting the scans of the marvelous books.

The only issue that I could see would be if you were palnning on going the "Press and clean" route in which case the history of the scans could be used as a reference point. As an editorial comment PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THESE WORKED ON. I am certain that you could retire tommorow and live for the rest of your life based upon what these books would bring.

I would recommend that you try to get CGC to give the books a pedigree and have a small quantity of the graded so you can see what they come up with. Also try to get them in the book on pedigrees as soon as possible. All of this should help the eventual sales value of the books for whenever you or you heirs do sell.

  2. Honestly I don't remember. It was about 9 years ago b4 I found ebay. what stood out the most was that shipping and insurance was over 17% of the purchase price. I think I got a few % back 5 years later after there was some kind of class action lawsuit over the absurd charges

here is the Flash 105 that was part of the lot as well

  3. How could you possibly do a group shot. 500 books in a picture is beyond anything I could imagine let alone over 1000.

I guess I could be considered your competition, but not really. I am much happier with a 5.5-8.0 at a low price, and I have virtually no books slabbed.

As a direct result of the Poll and this thread I am now up to 91 different books. Since I am an Actuary and a numbers person by nature I am analyzing how many I have from the different 100's. For example I only have 1 in the 100's but have 14 in the 1100's.

At the moment most of the ones I have have not been shown so I will try to add some when I get time.

Here is a beautiful 1313 that I just got in a trade with Boomtown

  4. to whomever is making a list of what has been posted here, below is a list of the Four Colors that I currently have. Feel free to PM me if there are any you see that have not been posted. I will try to scan them for posting.

In case anybody had not heard, I am trying to get ALL of the Four Colors AND I am trying to do it ONLY with trading. My goal is to end up with over 500 different issues by the end of 2007. For the most part I have found trading much more fun than buying and/or selling.

  5. I would definately take the Famous Funnies over the Detective

Much harder choice for the Supes vs New Comics. With Action 1 being my grail followed by Supes 1, I would be very tempted by Supes, but I think I would go for the Amazing high grade of the much harder to find New Comics. If the Supes was unrestored even in a bit lower grade I might swing the other way

  6. Yes It was actually the cartoon that I saw as a kid. I remembered the depiction of the golden ratio and other things quite distinctly. I was only 4 in 59 so it must have showed later. I think it was on the Sunday night Wonderful World of Color from the early sixties It was because of the cartoon that i wanted the comic.

I would love to see the half sheet.

  7. This thread was inspiring me to try to go for a full run of Four Colors until I saw yours.

I realizied that starting off with only 100 or so and even trying to get decent copies would take the rest of my life and more $$$$$$ than i want to invest there. I still want to try to get a really nice assortment of FC's and would love to trade for the ones that I don't have.

Since I am an Actuary I have always loved this one and even have it on display in my office.

  8. ok here is a Cherry Poptart # 1 it is copyrighted in 1982

Not sure if it is a reprint or not, but based upon my Classics Illustrated training it might be as there is an add inside the back cover which has an HRN of 3 including images ot all 3 issues.

    1498015-cherrypop1.jpg

between my copies of # 1 and # 2 the "publisher" in the upper left corner changed from "Yetzler & Goniff" to " Yentzer & Gonif"
