  1. Mick Rabin is the guy who drove up from san diego to Granada Hills for the chance to buy my grey tone war issues from my OO purchase. He was thrilled to buy them all. I think he came up about a month after the Northridge earthquake. Guess he did not want to take a chance on missing out on them.

  2. congratulations Ian on your amazing achievment. I got back from vacation on Sunday, and have just had time to finish going through this thread.

I very much enjoyed seeing the image of the 90 DC books. I probably have over 15,000 different DC books including 18 that I spotted in that picture. I can barely imagine the effort as well as the $$,$$$,$$$ of obtaining them all. This is to say nothing of the effort to organize and store them all, as well integrate all the new material into the storage system.

  3. Actually that is Jaguar 3. I posted # 11 under the Archie thread. Only the first 3 qualify for this more exclusive thread

I have attached # 1 to this post. If I have the time I will also post the # 2. I think I have a full run of Fly's as well, but I did not find any scans of them yet

  4. I have not had time to go through the entire thread to verify that I am not duplicating. since my primary focus in collecting has always been super heroes I will add one of those.

While I did not buy this copy off the spinner rack myself, it is one that I remember as having as a kid along with one issue of the fly.

  5. Great set of HG My Greatest Adventures.

I sold off a fantastic run of them to John Verzyl many years ago at a convention in LA. they came from one of my best finds when I first got back into collecting in the late 80's. A woman had advertised them in the recycler and I went to see them. They were runs of like 30 -40 strraight of maybe 1/2 dozen titles starting around X-men 6+/Daredevil 1+/Mighty Sampson/ and as I recall My Greatest Adventure. The books had been untouched in neat stacks for about 20 years. My prejudiced memory/eye would grade the run at at least and average of 8.5.

I kept most of them for my permanent collection, but only saved the Doom Patrol Issues of the MGA run. I remember negotiating with John and him telling Nanette "give him two bills for these". while I am sure that they are now worth quite a penny I did pretty well since that was more than I paid for the entire lot.

I also remember that the run of the individual titles was just absurd. " I was a _______" . just fill in the blanks with anything and slap a book together in color for just a dime.

unfortunately I have no remaining 10 centers from that purchase so I will post one of the few Archice 10 cent heroes

  6. My newest pedigree. got it in the mail about 10 days ago

    I think I have about 6 Big apple's.

I guess I have more Calvins than any other pedigree. I bought about 20 2-in a-bag Classics along with a cardboard stand to hold them in. I have those on display in my office. Not quite a spinner rack but pretty close.

  7. the history makes this one of my favorite pedigees. Working as an actuary in pensions makes the IRS collection have a bit of extra meaning.

as far as books that I have,I think that the big apple is the one that I have most of (probably because I have not had to pay much of a premium to get those)
