When I think of PGX I imagine a guy in a basement cluttered with boxes and envelopes. I actually talked to one of the guys there on the phone a few years ago to get his side of a story going around at the time. He denied everything.

Ride the Tiger replied to Impulse :)'s topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
Nevermind. Its clearly a 9.6 just didn't look close enough. -

How is this ASM 304 a 9.6??
Ride the Tiger replied to godparticl's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
A certain other grading company would have had that at 9.8 Maybe it was tampered with is all I can think of. No 9.6 has a rounded corner like that. -
How do you get good pics of slabs?
Ride the Tiger replied to Ride the Tiger's topic in Comics General
Lots of good answers. Thanks everyone for all the help. For not searching first I deserve 50 lashes. Funny to see this topic has been around for about a decade. I laughed when I saw someone talking about Windows 7 then I realized i'm still using an old laptop with Vista. Time for an upgrade. -

Its right off I88 so its possible to hit both the same day but then you're looking at 2 entry fees. If i'm paying for C2E2 im staying there till they kick me out. -
Like the title says. I've taken pictures with my cell phone and digital camera but you always see shadows and reflections from the light. My scanner works great for raw books but I see so many great pictures of slabbed books and wonder how you guys do it. Large scanner?

I'm going to try and sneak over there on Saturday. My weekend is pretty busy already so it will be a quick visit. If there is anything worth photographing ill snap a few and post them up. -

Im also thinking somewhere in the 4.0 area. I've seen lots of 4.0s with more wear than this book but the tear on back gives it a significant drop.

Please grade Avengers 8
Ride the Tiger replied to bitman2's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
The G and N in Avengers definitely have something going on. Kinda looks like your basic color breaking surface wear. Tough one to grade with that smudge that looks like someone tried to erase/remove something with an eraser possibly a solvent. I'll throw 6.5 out there due to confusion. -
I'm going to go broke this next month. Can you play the games any time after the initial purchase or ddo you have to be on their site?
-
I don't see that book going up again. There are so many high grade copies around. 9.8s are all over the place on ebay. Its like everyone and their uncle owns a copy. Takes away from the "rarity" part of the book.

I think the comic has to have like Gwen or Pool in it to go up in value.

Excellent. I had no idea places like this existed. So are you basically downloading the game and playing it on your PC?
-
Favorite Classic PC game is Blood which I believe was available for Windows 95. I have no idea how to play it anymore without a version of DOS built into the PC. I've tried DOS alternatives but have had no luck with them.

Anyone here have any old arcade games at their home? The ones from the early 80s... Gorf, Wizard of Wor, Galaga, Crazy Climber to name a few. I've been wanting to get a stand up game for my room forever but i'm afraid it will need repair at some point and i'll end up broke looking for a repair man and some ancient parts. Any input/opinions are welcome. If you have a game post up the pics!

PGM Tales to Astonish 44
Ride the Tiger replied to Finhead's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Nice book all around. Not sure how CGC would handle the spine issue which is the most visible defect. I'll say 7.0 with a chance of 7.5 -

I started watching the show at the beginning of Tom Baker and you couldn't take your eyes off the television for one second. Man I had a childhood crush on Sarah Jane Smith (RIP) :{ The Genenesis of the Daleks was the coolest program to date I had scene in the sci-fi category. I believe you can watch some of the episodes on Demand somewhere but alot of them were missing.
