  1. I am very excited for this! Having Ep IV mesmerized after watching it 30 times or so when it first came out on HBO in the early 80s, I guess that puts me in the older camp...
  2. I prefer the weekly drops rather than binge watching...unless it was something like Lost that seemed to have 2 new shows for every 5 weeks. I started watching that a few seasons it, so it was nice to catch up (using the Blockbuster mail-in service that could then be traded in at the store, allowing me to watch a few more discs while waiting for the next ones to be mailed). It became a chore since once we caught up since new episodes seemed to be delayed often
  3. Yes, but the industry continues to change, so I'd expect disc sales to be be lower across the board. I think I've purchased one disc in the past year (an Abbott and Costello!) when I used to but at least one per month. I think a better or more interested metric would be the # of disc sales for Infinity War vs Endgame. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/04/dvd-and-blu-ray-sales-nearly-halved-over-five-years-mpaa-report-says/ I would still think Endgame would have more disc sales than Infinity since it is the biggest movie ever/end of an event/etc, but Side note - although i now watch a lot of streamed movies/shows, the instant gratification does seem to take away *something* from the experience. I remember walking into the local video store when Batman 89 first came out being amazed as it was the first time I saw an entire section of the wall filled with VHS tapes for rent (and having none available!). Probably just being too nostalgic, especially since I worked at a Blockbuster in high school

  5. I still don't think I received the subscription email yet, but I followed Step 2 and was able to sign up!
  6. Also just signed up for D23 and got the 3-year plan, thanks for the tip! Only 75 days to go...
  7. I personally haven't tried these yet, but they look interesting... https://www.dynamiccomicdisplays.com/themed-cgc-cbcs-displays
  8. I don't think so, since many use that word in a derogatory fashion. There is also a focus on having a more positive term. From the Special Olympics FAQ: https://www.specialolympics.org/about/faq Why use the term "Special"? In the 1960s, when Special Olympics was founded, "retarded" was the acceptable term to describe people with intellectual disabilities. This was a time when people with intellectual disabilities were routinely institutionalized because their gifts and talents were not recognized. That's why Eunice Kennedy Shriver wanted to use language that was positive -- language that would help set an upbeat tone. There were many conversations about words that could best describe an exceptional group of people. Eunice Kennedy Shriver saw the adjective "special" as a way to define the unique gifts of adults and children with intellectual disabilities. Starting with the very first Special Olympics International Games in 1968, she wanted to dwell on our athletes' abilities, not disabilities.
  9. Very much looking forward to this!
  10. I've got 5 words to say to you, Greasy Joe's Bottomless Comic Pit!
  11. Any word on the show for this year? Haven't seen any dates yet...
  12. Similar thread with some good examples
  13. Was finally able to rent it and watch it again. Thought it was great (again) and is in my top 10 superhero/comic book movies. Favorite part is probably Looking forward to the next one!
  14. But what was the first comic book appearance? I imagine is pretty hot right now...
  15. I just looked on the app (haven't used the desktop/web version), and it has fields for: Purchase date, purchase price, current value, condition, location, store, your rating, if you've read it, plus other tags and notes (and several other fields). As mentioned, I don't think there is a way to automatically update the current value though. It is nice in that you can then easily filter on some of those fields...so if I want to see all my CGC 9.6 books and their covers, I can
  16. Fortunately my LCS lets you get as many different books as you want (1 copy each), so you could potentially get 30 free comics. I ended up with about 15 or so, and my daughters got some of the more kid-friendly ones. It's a newer, smaller store, but seemed to have a decent turn out while I was there
  17. My thought on the Cap going back in time is that he initially returned five of the stones. He then went back to live with Peggy after WWII. Since he's already lived a lifetime of adventure, he could now live his "normal", low-key life with the love of his life. He lived this out in the alternate timeline until Peggy passed away. At this point, he used the Pym particles to travel back and replace the final infinity stone, thereby collapsing the alternate timelines back. Cap then either lived out the remaining years in timeline prime until the time came for his seat at the bench, or more likely he used the final Pym particles to return post-undo-snap and went and sat down at the bench with the shield. This would be a risky and selfish move on Cap's part, but he does deserve the happiness...and he is Captain America after all (and thus would most likely survive long enough to return the final stone).
  18. Perhaps it's been mentioned somewhere, but I'm curious as to why they don't come out with comic book adaptations of these films, like they do for the new Star Wars movies? I would buy this series
  19. CGC doesn't need to be at an event for your to get a yellow label, you would just need an official witness and potentially facilitator that can help take care of things. Which event is this? You might check out the Signature series subforum to see if any witnesses are already attending.
  20. Saw this in the Signature forum: Edit: Adamantium beat me to it!
