Fawcett Books can be so Damn Cheap
steelcity replied to William-James88's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
No reason for anyone to be interested but I can tell you that the copy of Master Comics 33 mentioned above was sent to CGC for grading back in late summer 2000. -

Always liked this cover. The Kent’s in their back yard cover was revisited in #260. -

Tough collection of books to find so it is amazing, really, that a number of us here on the boards have managed to acquire similar Adventure Comics collections. Although I do have originally bought, off the stand issues, too, my earliest for this title bought new is 346. Mine are nothing like so nice as these - as I read them so much - which is why I have had to find upgrades. Well done for keeping your books in great condition for over half a century! -
Great run! Hope you find your missing issues to complete 125-201

Always nice to see Legion collections. As far as non Legion Adventures are concerned I don’t think anyone will mind if you want to post your copies here. -

These covers capture the very essence of why we collect Legion books. If you are tuned in to this you will have a personal selection of Legion tales that will be yours for life. -
Anyone else over the Promise Collection?
steelcity replied to William-James88's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Back in late 2000 I found a copy of Master Comics 33 for sale. Never seen it before; no prior thoughts to buy a copy but the dynamic cover in smouldering orange meant I had an impulse buy on my hands. Never regretted it, unlike a few other spur of the moment purchases I have made. -

By Wednesday of Christmas Eve 1958, perhaps peace had finally broken out? As on that day this book hit the stands to show a quiet meeting for Superman and Lana to share memories of Smallvillle from long ago. However, not everyone can be happy...

Christmas 1958. A quaint celebration from a bygone age? On December 19th President Eisenhower made his historic broadcast from space, or at least from a satellite circling the world. His message of hope for peace on earth and goodwill was a vain hope to both Batman and Superman, who were having a rough festive season. Batman was feeling decidedly chilly that month...

Here is the first silver age appearance of Clay-Face in an issue that hit the stands a few days before Halloween 1961 and looks very much of the season...

As a member of the JLA Batman was in some mighty company. This cover has grandeur more commonly seen in Marvel books of the time...

It must be high time for a few more silver bat scans. Another strange looking book from 1961 when Batman really did seem to be in a dark world...

World’s Finest 172 has one of the very best DC imaginary tales. -

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!

Thank you for showing this one as well. I really like your statue collection displayed with appropriate books. Been trying to look them up online. I think they were produced by Bowen Designs back in 2007? Very small numbers produced. Must have been very pleasing to acquire them and I expect extremely difficult to do so now. -

The statues are fabulous. I think I have seen one of the Lizard, too. -
Great buy. No matter how many times the Omnibus series books are reprinted they melt away in the endless demand for them. I was lucky to buy all three FF books in their first printings. It would be interesting to compare the different printings to see if there is any subtle differences between them in terms of binding, print quality, paper stock etc. Who knows?
