  1. Beautiful copy! Congratulations! Its gotta be worth at least 3 dancing bananas, right?
  2. Bat City was a great little store! I have not been in over a year. Don't tell me they packed up and moved to Florida? I used to visit it when I went north to Austin.
  3. Its funny to think about, these 2 books are comparably our Hulk #1 and #2. in the Marvel world. Lets say, for example Showcase #4 is DC's AF15 and FF#1 DC's BB#28. You gotta love being a DC/Flash fan! As pricey as that 106 in 7.5 seems...its almost affordable compared to a Hulk #2 in the same condition.
  4. Thank you so much Mike for putting these on for us! So important for keeping us all calibrated! @CGC Mike
  5. I believe I got a bullseye on this one, almost missed that crease but caught it and graded accordingly. Decent round for me but I blew the first 2 rounds . The important thing about these contests is to come out of the gates strong. That first round, if you can land in the low single digits means you are closely calibrated and have a good chance. If you blow it on the first round you have to course correct and play catch up and with only 4 rounds its often insurmountable.
  6. I sent in my grades about 8 hours ago. I have not got a 'received' response yet. I am sure Mike will get to all of us last day submitters soon.
  7. I am enjoying looking through this thread!
  8. I gotta get one of those guides! I went looking for it all I could find was a link to Matts video about it and some other details. I could never find where to order the darn thing. If someone has the link please share with old Flashy. TY
  9. I think it was Joe Simon who said "in comics if you come up with a great idea its ok to use it about 8 more times."
  10. Wow! Nice pick ups there!! Love that 153, definitely in my top 10 of SA Flash covers....the 154 not so much, still I love 154. My son gave me a copy years ago for my birthday. One of the few times someone actually gave me a birthday present I was thrilled about!
  11. That Hundred cover does look like someone redrew the original? You might be on to something there. Is there anyone from the publisher left there in Oz that you might be able to ask about such things? Sometimes we comic collectors have to play detective when it comes to research.
  12. Same here John! Grades in but I am really out of the running. Still maybe I will learn something as I wait for my copy of the CGC grading guide to arrive. Maybe that will help out for the next one?
  13. UGH! I scored another 8 or 9 points! My grades what I thought they should be graded What I guessed CGC would grade them Actual CGC grade Exciting 3.5 4.0 2.5 B&B 4.5 5.5 5.0 Cap Marvel 7.5 9.0 7.5 LL 5.5 6.0 6.5 NM 8.0 9.0 9.2
  14. All I can say is WOW! Did you know this was out there Terry? How much does something like this go for these days?
  15. I have given them a general grade but I will wait a day and look at them again on Friday. I kinda rushed in for R1 and it did not work out for me.
  16. These are so cool to look at Terry! Was it the same situation in Italy as in Australia? Local printers with rights to print and distribute? National must have sent out reproductions of the original art for production? I can't imagine they put Carmines' originals in the mail?!?
  17. I bombed on the Cap book! I obviously did not look close enough. 9 points for the round
  18. Love them all! Thanks for sharing and thanks to adding to my want list! I gotta get me some Slow Death, and Girl Fight now.
  19. Me and Trina today at the Big Texas Comicon! It was wonderful to talk to her! She was signing her Wonder Woman cover there. I was tempted to bring some of her old comics to sign but instead I brought her book "Last Girl Standing", which is a great read for any of you interested in that era of the late 60's-mid 70's. There were so many things in there I did not know about her! I thought she just drew Underground Comix. Amazing talent! Also I could not resist getting one of the Wonder Woman posters signed as well. She was very gracious and signed everything. She said she really enjoyed visiting San Antonio. She said we all made her feel welcome.
