  1. This would be considered "incomplete" as the cut coupon interrupts the story line. I believe it would grade 1.0. If the coupon had not been cut out it would likely grade in the 3-4.0 range IMO.
  2. I love it! I doubt i'll ever be fortunate enough to own one of the Showcase books. There is a Showcase #8 in pretty rough shape (water damage) at one of my local comic shops, but its about $800 I believe. You are indeed a fortunate Flash fan! About 3 years ago at our local con I got to hold a Showcase #4 for about 10 seconds LOL! The dealer had 2 of them! I asked to see one. He said "Do you want to see the $10,000 one or the $20,000 one?" I asked to see the lesser of the two. To me it was like getting to meet a celebrity. It's probably best you kept it in its case. You can always read the story in the Silver age volumes. Do you have any of the others Terry? How close are you to finishing the run?
  3. Such an awesome book to have in any condition!!! I'd say its a 2.0 maybe a 2.5 IMO. The missing staple does not bother me as its a bindery defect and at this grade I don't believe it would make an impact.
  4. It looks like its shaping up to be a great tournament this year so far!
  5. Beautiful looking book! It would probably grade in the 9's if it weren't for that stubbed corner (which might press out) I had a book in a similar situation a week ago and the consensus here was it would grade a 7.5. Your corner is not as bad as mine was so I would feel comfortable grading it at 8.0.
  6. I believe this would fall in the 5-6 range because of the staining to the back cover and the spine stress. I will say 6.0. But I would not be surprised if they hit it a little harder and gave it a 5 or 5.5. Let see what some of the other experts say here...
  7. I think it has a shot at a 9.0 maybe more. A professional cleaning may get rid of the fingerprints on the back but I don't think a pressing would help this book. The only things holding it back are the tiny color breaking corner crease, slight edge wear and those fingerprints IMO.
  8. Quick! Somebody please post another better looking 130 than mine. This poor abused copy cant be the last 130 posted on this page!
  9. IMO the color breaking spine stress areas are a little too extensive for me to put it in the 7's. Comics in this grade range are the most difficult to grade. The rest of the book is absolutely beautiful and it presents very well! If I were grading it to sell it I would give it a 6.5, but because it presents so well I would not be surprised if it came back CGC 7.0. If you are sending it in, please let us know how it turns out. Thanks for sharing! P.S. I always remove any tape, old or new completely from the bag and either throw it away or stick temporally somewhere far away from the comic before I remove from its bag. (its happened to me too) Your Pal, Flashlites
  10. This is a beautiful looking golden age book!!! The amount of dust shadow is minimal but it's very dark and I believe it could keep it out of the higher grades. I would feel comfortable at a 7.5, but I would not be surprised if it came back an 8 or maybe a little higher.
  11. Eeeesh! looking at those staple tears close up now makes me cringe!!!
  12. Here's my 'reader copy'. With these black covers, every flaw is super visible . Any Flash fans interested in this years March Madness grading contest? I threw my lightening bolt in the ring again this year. I had so much fun last year, and learned a lot along the way.
  13. Ok Flash Fans! back to the topic at hand before we end this page. Remember only 20 posts to a page, I thought I'd post an interior page from 129. That famous panel that introduces the JSA into the Silver Age!
  14. I see what you mean, blue is the first color to fade isn't it? Those colors are like new, freshly printed.
  15. I need some input on this one please. I apologize for my scanner cutting off the crucial part (spine and corners). For some reason it has no trouble getting the full view in the bag.. Please see 3rd photo. My main concern is the top left corner and how much that would affect the grade. Thank you!
  16. Cool book! I'd love to have one in any condition! If it weren't for that tape residue it may be in the 4.0 range but I do agree with the others, with this defect it would probably grade at 3.0. Thanks for sharing!
  17. Another stunning book Bill!!! Yours and Terry's may be evenly matched? Beautiful copies, both of them and so great to see them here. Thank you for sharing!
  18. Which media article are you referring to Terry? I am curious and always interested in comic book history!
  19. Just 59 left! 6 early ones 105, 106, 110 and 139 among them. Those may tough to find in my "affordable grade" but I remain optimistic. And for the 105 I would accept an incomplete book so I believe it will happen eventually. Everything in the middle is pretty much filled. There is a one big gap 272-282 and the rest are in the 300's. Mycomicshop has been an amazing resource for me over the last 3 years but you are right their prices are going up.
  20. I feel like most of the 8.0's and 9.0's are probably tucked away in collections. I know I wouldn't sell one if I had one . As you can see i'm digging for scraps on a budget here, but still managing to put together a collection. All the enthusiasm without the funds But seriously, I've noticed as well here in Texas at the local cons and comic shops S.A Flash is hard to find. I'm even finding it hard to scoop up the later issues 300-350!!?? I had to send away to Dallas and Houston recently to pick up some of those, my local shops have had nothing these last 2 years.
  21. Very nice copy Terry!!! What grade do you think it would bring?
