  1. Two more issues arrived today - Four Color #64 and #251. The Hubert issue doesn't show up very often, though there is another decent copy on eBay now that was just listed. I have 54 issues left - 33 from 1-99, 9 from the 100s, 8 from the 200s, and 1 each from the 300s, 500s, 600s, and 800s.
  2. Here are three Dick Tracy Four Colors. #56 is mine and the first series copies belong to a friend.
  3. One of the issues that I was waiting on arrived today. The other issue I'm waiting on should arrive next week. Four Color #237
  4. I generally don't buy placeholders these days, at least not intentionally. Sometimes I'll buy an issue that has a defect that I was unaware of such as a detached staple and I will keep it and add the book to my replace list. The Tarzan is borderline for me with the cover damage, but is one that I don't mind keeping it in my collection. However, I certainly won't turn down the opportunity to upgrade it for a better copy. I've had many comics that I passed on because the centerfold was detached or the cover was detached at a staple or there was excess water damage, etc. I was less choosy when I was in my teens and early 20s and would buy placeholders, but those have almost all been replaced by now. Now if I found a number of hard to find issues that were complete, but with a number of problems in a 50 cent box somewhere, I likely would not pass them up.
  5. The mail arrived with one more issue that I'd been waiting on. Four Color #134. There are obvious issues with the top of the front cover, but the rest of the issue is pretty solid and it was well below guide. Maybe I'll find a better copy someday, but this will do for now.
  6. Four Color #1297. The highest number left on my want list now is #859. I have 63 issues left with four more issues on the way.
  7. Nice. Congratulations. That sure doesn't show up very often at a reasonable price.
  8. Four Color #1304 arrived today so only #1297 is left after #859
  9. Four Color #1164 arrived today bringing the total I need for Series II down to 67 issues. It also completes the 1100s and makes the longest unbroken string from 860-1296 with only 1297 and 1304 remaining from the higher numbers. I only need six issues after #320.
  10. Nice! I know what you mean about double dipping (or worse) on the material. I picked up two more issues today, bringing the total I need (for series II) down to 68 issues.
  11. Four Color #1016 This completes my third hundred run and increases my largest unbroken streak to 304 issues (860 to 1163).
  12. #932 This completes the 900s for me so now I have the 700s and 900s taken care of.
  13. Four Color #485 I have one more issue that I need in the 400s. I also need only one issue in the 500s, 600s, 800s, 900s, 1000s, 1100s, and 1200s plus 2 in the 300s and 1300s.
  14. If it was in 2005 or later it might have been stock from the comic store I worked at from 1986-2005 (Classic Movie and Comic Center). Todd bought all of the store stock when the store closed, including stuff that had been in the owner's basement for decades. I'm sure Todd bought other store stock over the years, though.
  15. Four Color #881 I only need one more in the 800s now and 77 overall (for Series 2)
  16. Very cool. Now we're at 100% for series 1 and series 2 again. I wish that I could say the same for my own Four Color collection.
