  1. Are you imagining that you are married to Imelda Marcos?
  2. I knew Dale and thought he was a pretty nice guy. He was the lawyer for the comic store I worked at until it closed in 2005 (Classic Movie and Comic Center in Livonia, MI). He had been the lawyer for the store since before I started working there in 1986. I didn't know that his collection was that huge, but it doesn't surprise me that much.
  3. This was the last Roy Rogers issue that I was missing. I also have a complete run of his regular series and the Trigger series.
  4. Four Color #571 arrived in the mail today. This finishes off the 500s for me and the only issue that I need after #302 is #694 Super Circus. I have 44 issues left in Series II.
  5. Ask and ye shall receive. Here's the complete set of all 43 issues of Buster Brown plus one unrelated Buster Brown comic to even out the photos. It took me a while to complete, but I was happy when I finally got there about a year and a half ago.
  6. They're scattered in different boxes, but if I can get them assembled at some point, I'll try to do this.
  7. I have a full run of Beetle Bailey now with the acquisition of #66, but I think my copy of #55 is just a regular copy, not a complimentary one. I've never looked for a complimentary one, but will try to keep an eye out if it is one that you're looking for.
  8. Here's a comic that doesn't show up very often - Beetle Bailey #66. The series went to Charlton with the next issue, but unlike Phantom #29, this issue actually was printed. However, it is almost impossible to find and this is the first copy that I've seen other than an old eBay auction when I first started looking specifically for it a decade ago. I suspect that they had a contract to supply some to army bases and those were the only ones that were printed, but that's just a guess.
  9. The store had a number of other nice early issues between 11 and 40, but I had the other issues already. They also had nice copies of Gene Autry #1 (Fawcett), a bunch of Looney Tunes issues, and more that I assume came from the same collection. I was happy with the shape this one was in.
  10. I picked up Looney Tunes #10,11 today. That just leaves #1-4, 6, and 27 for the set.
  11. I picked this one up today and it is now my earliest issue in the series. I still need #1-10 plus 13 other issues with the highest being #45.
  12. I picked up a couple of nice early Four Colors today - #5 and #13. I'm particularly happy with #5 which is in pretty nice shape and doesn't show up very often.
  13. Casper's Ghostland #5 arrived today to finish off that series for me. The only Casper issues that I am still looking for are #1,2,4,9 from the first series. This includes three of the pre-Harvey issues.
  14. I've purchased comics from Qualitycomix before, but the Tiny Tim was actually from an eBay seller named slayor. He had a complete set of Four Color and has been selling it over the last number of years.
  15. Thanks! There are two copies of FC 77 on eBay now. One of them is in cgc 9.2 and priced way above what I would pay. The other is listed in vg/fine and was close to what I would pay. MCS is very weird with their pricing at times. The FC 52 and FC 77 I just got were from MCS and were priced at guide or even a little below based on their 3.0 evaluation of the grade. I took a chance on them since you can never really tell if the staples are all connected and so on, but they were in these cases so I was satisfied. They have other issues that I need, such as FC 69 in 4.0 which they have listed at $105 vs $42 in the guide and FC 121 in 4.0 which they have listed at $50 vs $20 in the guide. No thanks on either of those. I've seen similar listings, though, and then they'll get another copy in the same condition and price it based on guide. It makes me wonder about how they decide to price their books. The Tiny Tim issue is from an eBay seller who has 7 other issues that I need plus maybe 15-20 others that he doesn't have ready to sell yet. Unfortunately, all of them are priced at 50% or more above guide and since they are 5.0 grades or above, that adds a lot. I'll probably pass on them, at least for now. If I get down to needing 10 issues, then maybe I'll splurge a bit more and overpay, but with 48 issues to go in series II (with one on the way), I'll still be a bit patient. I think that I've picked up over 30 issues in the past year, though I'd have to check to make sure. That's pretty good progress, though the ones that are left will likely be difficult. There are probably 10-20 of them that I may be able to get for around $20 or less eventually. I hope so anyway.
  16. Three more issues arrived in the mail: Four Color (1st Series) #20 plus Four Color (2nd series) #52 and #77
  17. That Terry and the Pirates issue looks great. Definitely better than my copy.
  18. Four Color #235 My list is now down to 50 issues with two more on the way.
  19. Thanks. I'd certainly be willing to trade it for the copy of #1 with D. Tracy that you recently acquired. I'm down to needing 51 issues from series II with three of them on the way. The ones on their way are #52 Little Orphan Annie, #77 Felix the Cat, and #235 Tiny Tim. There are others from my want list available on eBay or elsewhere, but I'm not satisfied with the condition or price. I'll probably go through the run eventually and see if there are any that I want to upgrade. I did that years ago and have filled all of those, but it has been a while. Here's what I currently need:
  20. Four Color #10 arrived in the mail today and I'm happy with it. Hopefully I can keep filling in some of the other issues that I need.
  21. Four Color #859 arrived in the mail today. Now the highest number left on my want list is #694.
  22. I picked up a set of Little Iodine that included the two Four Colors, each of which is in pretty nice shape. I already had a copy of #257, but this is an upgrade. #224 fills another hole.
