Is it safe to say that Archie 50 is the most graded Archie/Archie related book? Including all Archie Publications and MLJ.

No, there are 122 copies of Archie 50 listed in the Census.  There are 188 copies of Betty and Veronica 320 (146 regular and 42 Canadian).  If you include all of the variants, there are over 500 copies of Afterlife with Archie #1 in the Census.

  2. My longest unbroken streak is 1017-1163 so 147 issues.  After that, the longest unbroken runs are 933-998, 376-440 and 695-758.

I need 143 issues with three issues on the way. My goal for the year is to get it down below 100 issues needed in series II.  I don't have any issues that I am really looking to upgrade at the moment.  I would like to finish off some of the hundred sets.  For example, the only # I need from 1000-1099 is 1016 which isn't really an expensive issue (Smokey the Bear).  I need three issues from 1100-1199, but one of them is in my current order.  I need eight issues from 1200-1299 with two on the way.  I need eight issues from 1300-1354.

Some of those should be possible.  For the ones below #1000, I'm doing pretty well on all of the ones from 300 and up

    300s - 4

    400s - 3

    500s - 5

    600s - 4

    700s - 4

    800s - 7

    900s - 5

  3. For books that don't appear too often, I do the search for a book I want and then save the search as a bookmark.  I repeat the process for other books I'm looking for and then collect the searches into folders.  I can select all the searches in a folder at once to open in different tabs and then scan through to see if anything new has been added (having newest listings at the top).  It doesn't take too long to scan through these to see if there is anything I want and I can check  them whenever I want.

Maybe something similar would work for you.

As I am going through my collection for the umpteenth time I noticed the Jacky's Diary and was thinking that I had not seen a followup.  Since this was usually a tryout series I was wondering what other attempts never got a second shot prior to the series demise?

So we have the movie issues  as well as some of the later issues like the other two below.  Any other come to mind?

Johnny Jason did get a second issue, though not as a Four Color.

One that came immediately to mind is Four Color #309 with Betty Betz' Dollface and Her Gang.

Another is Four Color #518 with Rivets, though the character did get three issues from another publisher.

SO how many holes do you still have to fill now kaculler? are you going for both first series as well as second series?

I am down to 128 including only 12 first series.  Been seriously pursuing this for well over a decade, but, to make it more interesting, almost exclusively through trades.

Here are the last few that I got from Terry at the PRE San diego Con that was held last summer

Coming up next will be the latest and biggest trade with MYCOMICSHOP

I'm down to needing 149 issues from Series II, though I have one more issue that hasn't arrived.  Most of the ones I've picked up lately have been from eBay or Mycomicshop, though a few have been from shows.  I picked up a nice Snow White issue at a local show last month.  I've been collecting the series for a long time, but didn't get very serious about it until about 7 years ago.  I haven't been pursuing the first series and probably won't add it to my want list any time soon.  I have a friend who completed the second series a couple of years ago and only has a couple to go to complete the first series.

Getting most of yours through trades is a pretty good accomplishment.  I used to have tons of duplicates, but sold almost all of them to a friend of mine or else I'd offer to trade ones you need, if I had any.  I've been able to cross 23 issues off my list in the last couple of months and continue to make pretty good progress, but since I need 57 issues below #100, it likely will become slow going after a while.

    Good luck with your hunt.

Wow, I have never seen that one before!  Pretty sure that's what he was looking for.

I found that copy in a $3 bin at a comic shop in Pittsburgh a few years ago.  It's the only one that I've seen.  A friend of mine uploaded the pic to comics.org.  I'd like to upgrade it, but who knows if I'll ever find another.  Maybe there will be a 'warehouse find' someday and copies will flood ebay.  I still need #10,13,14,26,29,40 to complete the set.
