Thread is now closed; thank you everyone! For those who would like to see my keepers from Joe Sinnott's personal copies, here they are. I kept the War run because its three consecutive high-grade, late-run issues; the Tell it to the Marines #4 because it's basically the last issue of Devil Dog Dugan; My Own romance and Quick Trigger Western for the late-career Matt Baker work, Battle Action #23 because that guy looks like the late Darren Carerra, friend and owner of the Comics Depot in Saratoga Spring, which was an awesome shop; a few classic covers and Battle Ground #1.
I don't know how much more of Joe's Atlas books I'll get a chance at; hoping for some more PCH and early post-code horror, but the intermediary is keeping the sci-fi and most pre-code war. We both doubt the Marvel books leave the family, certainly not anytime soon, though maybe some bronze eventually will be parted with. Just our guess.
These are beautiful you cherry picking sob! Congrats!

I assured him you and others who had commented had no ill intent and have excellent reputations in the hobby. I do think the Comic Link listing was misleading, and it definitely lends a negative experience for a new collector excited to land a nostalgic piece. I've been there myself as have many others who have chimed in. Such a bummer when that happens, especially early on. Best to just have empathy and move on while we use the experience to make new friends through the process. I feel for both of you in the situation.
Mike I agree with your sentiment here… but my issue (and I did not see how malicious the comment was) is that once this keeps changing hands with the incorrect description that becomes the “truth” … it’s pretty much my argument with a couple friends who get pencil only published stuffed after market inked. They may not be misrepresenting but once it is misrepresented publicly it is hard to get to the truth,

You know what Gene … one day I hope to be the friend in one of these posts that drops a nugget of wisdom! I’m going to have to figure out how to get into one of your group chats!

Trading a solid Alan Davis X-Men page from the Mutant Massacre storyline for a Will Meugniot DNAgents cover was, admittedly, probably not the best deal I've ever made.
Have an extra for me???

I took a big swing at the Quesada Xfactor cover but still fell short (thought it was a good price) but did pick up a few small pages that I thought went very cheap. Big mix of results in the auction overall you can take results and paint a sky is falling or the market is strong picture depending on which way you lean!

Seemed like soft prices to me.
I spend more time in the Morlock tunnels and don't breath the rarified air of 5 figure pages, but wasn't ~$20,000 for a Sandman Issue 1 page pretty low?

Also published Byrne X-Men, albeit Hidden Years, for less than $700?
https://www.comicconnect.com/item/1034824
Paul Ryan FF for less than $400
I was racing home from work to try to get to that Byrne page lol… someone got a great deal

Interesting business model for a dealer!
I wonder who it was? Everyone I saw had prices on everything even the brothers Grimm…. Wonder if it was something someone just got in as trade or something.

Sitting on the plane trying to get back to the comic art mecha that is NJ! While I’m hear I figured I’d share some thoughts and pics.. the show was amazing! @Bill Cox and team did an incredible job… the thoughtfulness put into what a creator could want was scene. It felt like a show for collectors by collectors. Where there things to learn from being the first run.. of course! I had a great show.. I set up in the collectors island area with a few friends and was suprised how much I sold., also suprised how much I bought lol.. even made a trade, so I hit the trifecta! But even better was all the collectors I met in person for the first time that I’ve known on line forever. Every collector I spoke to had good things to say. Sooo I am also friends with some of the art reps and a couple artists and they also unanimously had good things to say… seems to have been a win all around. I’ll be there again.
some pics of the stuff I came home with and just some of the debauchery! Any questions let me know

Yeah, Joe had initially suggested a commission dropoff/pickup, but I'm not attending any cons.
Hopefully I hear back this week from someone, if not - I'll work my way down the list of suggestions!
I’m tight with Larry T- he has some family stuff going on but I made him aware of your email.

Seems like the oa market popped a blue pill because I saw no softness today !
the platinum part obviously wasn’t exciting but is that a result of art that wasn’t really “platinum level”?

I used to be anal about getting the book my art was in… now not as much. BUT since I have focused more on nostalgia I have most already lol.
its the modern art I dabble in where it gets a grey area. Covers I always get.. and like you had to way over pay for a finch variant cover I have , the matching book .

I recently had a user reach out via CAF, trying to sell some Tom Morgan Fleer card art for a nice markup. Funny thing is, I don’t think he owned the art (yet). A number of them were featured on Clan McDonald’s live art sale for considerably cheaper the following week (but still pricey for modern card art). This is at least questionable behavior right?
Ooooooo- who was it??? (I checked those out on clan- they were nice but over priced for modern)

@skypinkblu Your OA with the “PWS” signature - could that be Paul Smith?
@Unstoppablejayd might know — Jay, see Sha’s post top of this page: con sketches of Miss America and Spidey and Tweety. Could that be Paul Smith the X-Men guy?
Hi guys! Hope the Hollidays treated both of you well!
Don’t know who they are but not Paul Smith. Paul Smith signs PMS and his sig looks different. Sorry

I much prefer when the dealer doesn’t know the other way (thinks it isn’t published or doesn’t know who the artist is )
but seriously this one was a mistake - but I do agree that a little more diligence isn’t a bad thing, but dealers that take consignments probably just regurgitate the info given. FYI the buyer (not me) did know before completing the purchase.
