    SOOOO_ I have shifted heavily to collected original art and that stuff is expensive!!! SO I have been looking to thin my collection some, and with NYCC next week I figured this weekend is a good time to start~ This will be a quick one only a couple days.. I have about 25-30 books to list.. all raw and Keys

     

    Most of this stuff was in a box to go to CGC but I have decided against the wait !

    Have I lost the meaning of a flip? Isn’t a flip when someone buys something then quickly flips it for a profit? Not someone buys it from a dealer then a year and a half later trades/sells it to another dealer and it is available for slightly more do to the market???

    There's also, IMO, a perception problem in dropping the ask price on art specifically.    Buyers who see a stale piece dropping in ask price should snap it up, but they don't seem to, in practice.     They seem to, for whatever reason, need a little FOMO boost, either from the piece going to auction and selling for certain, or from being generally aware the price will only rise.

    I had this argument with a newbie collector who didn’t understand why dealers don’t lowers prices for stale inventory or negotiate more on it. 
     

    my answer was simple and two part… if the pieces just appreciate while sitting in a binder why would they? And Second part for them to get new inventory they need to pay todays prices so why discount what they already have…

    seems simple to me- they aren’t selling TVs which become obsolete or eggs that go bad…

    Interestingly, the least interesting page of the original lot is not for sale. Maybe the seller kept it to himself ?

    Maybe he bought the lot because he wanted that one…. And you are blowing up his spot calling him a flipper?????? Lol
