Invincible #1 isn't a key? Spider-Gwen?

Your image is itself a copyright violation
It's not a copyright violation if her didn't copy that work directly from something else. At best it would be a trademark violation.

does comichron track sales of IH181?
and does you shop deal in higher end books (if yes sweet, ive never had a local shop with anything other than dollar books)?
No, but by "millions of new collectors" I assumed it was referring to millions of new people actively collecting new comic books too, not millions of new "Hulk 181 collectors." My shop deals in higher end books. I see the same people in it every week. I have never seen anyone under 15 in it. I never hear about kids collecting books. I never see new comic shops opening. From what I see, the people collecting today are the same people that grew up with comics 20-40 years ago. As another poster said, kids don't care about comics now and the industry won't survive from people buying silver and golden age keys alone. I can't imagine people still buying new comic books in another 15 years or even half of the brick and mortar shops being around by then. The two largest retail stores in my city, both which had been around 30+ years, have closed in the last three years.

What everyone is overlooking is that there are millions of new collectors out there introduced to comics thanks to all the superhero movies.
Do you have any sources to back up that there are "millions of new collectors" due to the movies? I definitely would say there are millions of new superhero fans. But if Comichron numbers and what I see at my LCS is any indication, they aren't buying comics.

Before submitting to CGC, why not submit to the Hey buddy, can you spare a grade? forum and ask for opinions on whether it could grade up? Could save a bit of money and hassle.

A comic-con at a local DC Metro area college just last month had a line around the block of people waiting to get in. This for a small con of primarily just comics -- not a San Diego or Baltimore-type event. This hobby ain't going anywhere.
That's great for the con, but where are those people when the weekly books come out? Where are those people when your LCS is trying to sell back issues? Because they sure aren't buying them. The monthly Comichron reports prove that.

They’re not appropriate for kids anymore. What parent would buy that garbage for their child?
I was planning to take my six year old niece to my LCS on free comic book day and get her a few of the kid offerings. Not sure if they are truly appropriate for kids now, but I figure if not, I can always get her some Disney stuff like DuckTales.

who's going to buy my collection when I'm 75 in 25 years or so? We must get the children of today into physical comics. We need to take away their phones or xboxes or whatever. Interest in physical comics must remain at least until I sell my collection for huge profits. After that we can give the kids back their phones.
We also need to get them interested in Hummel Figurines so I can sell this ridiculous collection my mother left me in her will.

What is going to happen in twenty years when the 80s kids leave the market? There certainly won't be people to replace them. I go to my LCS weekly and have never seen anyone under 25 in there. Kids don't collect comics anymore, and you certainly don't have many new adults entering the scene. People just aren't interested in them as much anymore and kids don't want to buy a physical book when they spend 90% of their time on their phones.

That's the other thing I was wondering, whether it was against some type of CGC policy. Just like whether it would be a problem if a book had restoration applied to one corner, and instead of submitting as restore, you just cut off that part of the corner? How would covering up restoration with a sharpie and providing a new defect be different from having a professional company remove the restoration by scraping the color touch off?
-
I see a lot of restored labels where the only restoration is color touch. As a hypothetical, if the color touch was, let's say red, and you marked over it with a black sharpie, would the book then get a universal label without the restoration label? What if you took it further, and had an artist sign or remark completely over the color touch?
I'm not sure if CGC would consider this "gaming the system" or if it might be a violation of one of their policies, but was curious since a color touch restoration is seemingly done to improve a book's appearance by covering up a defect, and in these instances you are not attempting to restore the book's condition, but replacing it with a new defect.
-
No, I don't believe there is any moral obligation to restore a comic you bought.

I just tried to add the label to 1 book in a submission. However, seems like it will be shipped seperately, so not only does it cost $5 but it also cost $30 in extra shipping cost. - so - no Thanks until CGC can find away to ship it together with regular cover submissions
Does this mean the labels are now available on the invoices?

Edit: deleting this post so I don't derail it with my opinion on Romita Jr. I'll save that for another thread.

Why does it look as if his hair and his cape are being blown in opposite directions by the wind?
Is that cape "blowing?" I thought someone was off panel holding it taught at the top and bottom.

I don't understand how Liefeld is still getting work. Is it just name-recognition? Guy hasn't progressed as an artist in 20 years. You can find much better work from fans on DeviantArt or the /r/comicbooks subreddit. Who has a hairstyle like that in 2019?
-
How is a book "overpriced" if it consistently sells at those prices? Overpriced means something is "priced more than it is worth." If Sabertooth's first appearances are selling (not just being listed) at $500 in 9.0, that is how much it is worth.
This thread should be titled "Prices on first appearances I wouldn't personally pay."

For a modern age major key, you don't get more affordable than Spawn 1.

I would think a lot, even though they would probably get CGC ratings of 9+
You would think that, but if you're not familiar with CGC grading then what you think is 9+ is more than likely 6.5+.

Maybe it's just his store and not him, happened to me with Alex Ross. I was so hyped up he was going to be at SDCC only to find out, "yeah alex isn't here, but you could buy one of his paintings for a million dollars"
Good point that I didn't consider. Although I checked his site and they have this:
Booth: 304 | Show Floor
J. Scott will be signing: Saturday, the schedule is TBD
Just think it's odd that he is one of the bigger draws and ECCC isn't advertising him.
Edit: I just noticed he tweeted confirmation a couple days ago that he would be at ECCC. Maybe they just haven't updated their site. Weird since Wondercon also doesn't list him.
-
Anyone confirmed that J Scott Campbell will be at ECCC? He has it on his web site, but ECCC does not have it on their guests page and I can find no other mentions of it other than Campbell's site.

Liefeld has also claimed they sold five million copies of xforce 1, which no one believes. Don't put much stake into his claims.
