  1. I bet every publication has had a pre-written obituary sitting around for this guy for the last 15 years. Although Stan was a terrible writer of women in the 60s, it always amazed me how forward-thinking he was toward race and diversity. I remember reading this Soapbox and how much it changed my way of thinking at the time. What a marvel.
  2. Kav i originally quoted something you said and then realized I was wrong, but the edit function in mobile won't let me delete the quote reference, in case you might have been wondering why I had a blank quote from one of your posts. 😐
  3. Im really surprised no one has made counterfeit slabs yet. Given how big the replica watch industry is in china, it would seem like someone would try to duplicate the slabs to sell fake or lower-graded comics. I don't blame CGC for keeping the process secret.
  4. TL,DR: Here's an article about a character named "Spider Man" who has nothing to do with Peter Parker: Spider-Man.
  5. I have received thousands of items from Amazon and only had one item damaged. I don't need backer boards because I don't buy new comics. Everything I get is digital now.
  6. Amazon does the same thing with the "Customers who bought this item might also like..." option. Amazon is significantly cheaper. Amazon is open 24 hours a day, unlike my LCS that opens at 11 AM and is closed on Monday, and charges ridiculous prices. Amazon accepts returns, my LCS doesn't (which I found out after I bought too many backing boards and ended up throwing the extras away). That 2 or 3 bucks per book adds up to a significant amount when buying a lot of books. I would love to be able to support my LCS but they offer zero advantage over Amazon when it comes to TPBs.
  7. Other than the people who mention they have been banned, what is the reasoning behind most of the hate for Mile High? I don't have any experience with them except when I was a N.I.C.E. member 30 years ago, so I'm out of the loop.
  8. Wow, someone finally agrees with me that JRJr. is the worst (mainstream) comic artist of all time. I think the bottom three are him, Sal Buscema, and Liefeld, although I've found most people vehemently disagree with me on those first two.
  9. I think it would be hilarious if Liefeld did a Deadpool cover where he is sitting down with his feet propped up on a desk and the feet take up 90% of the cover and they were the most detailed and best drawn feet of all time. Of course, Liefeld would have to be a good artist to do that, but it would be a funny tongue-in-cheek.
  10. I read that as slowly as possible and it wasn't until the second to last paragraph that I realized what "crossover" meant.
  11. CGC should have a sub-rating for Stan's signature. Op's might be a 2.0. If there is anything misspelled it gets a qualified rating.
  12. I had no idea the sold price wasnt the actual price if there was a buy it now option. Thanks!
  13. I know this is an old post but what does this mean? Did it not sell for $1200? How can you tell it sold lower by the watch count? I don't even see the watch count showing on the ending listing.
  14. Xforce #1 in 9.8 has been selling on eBay for around $125. I plan on submitting the one copy i have without the heat deal line down the cover.
  15. @moemaya how much did you pay for that 2500 collection?
  16. I can't believe you paid 350 for that. Yes, you should be upset (at yourself).
  17. I appreciate the official update, but I will be letting my membership expire and not submitting anything else until this is resolved. My comics can wait until I can get a clear holder.
  18. Okay, and I don't mean to keep dragging this out so this will be my last reply about it, but I think I need to at least tell you that your opinion is wrong.
  19. Sure I can. It is my opinion that your concerns are not valid. If I was in charge of a publishing group and I had the decision to stop variants, something that is very profitable to my business, because a few people are annoyed by them, it would be an easy call to make. Especially when the majority of those people have not changed their habits and are still purchasing my books.
  20. I stand by my original comment, as thinking variants are obnoxious/ridiculous/annoying and thinking we don't need more than one cover are not legitimate complaints as they have no affect on you as a collector. You're not required to buy them. They do not prevent you from collecting comics. It's like the people that complain that publishers adding a new movie tie-in cover on a classic book somehow affects the story or their enjoyment of it. Variants help keep the publishers in business.
