We know there is one book in the MCS auctions now...and if they let me know when the next ones will be sold, I will update here for that as well, so people can bid.
I can't give an exact figure, but a LOT of people have helped here.
There were 185 donations of books or other comic related items donated. My guesstimate is that about 100 other people donated funds through PP or by check/MO
Then there were the buyers of the items donated. One day when someone has a lot of time, they can count everything up, but the participation here has been amazing.

Some days, you just need a box of tissues...good tissues for good mushiness...
This was my message from Jim, today.
"
You guys.
We have broken 33K w/ a tentative total of $33,115.94"
But as the guy on whatever tv commercial says...WAIT there is more!
MyComicShop received the books they bought in the thread from Buscema's Avengers and they are adding them to the books they have recieved from a number of people, that will be sold on their site with the proceeds going to Jim.
So if we don't reach $35k, it's going to be damned close to it...
I'm not "closing" this thread, but I'm just going to bump it once this weekend with a final update from Jim (unless there is major activity) and I will update when we get the final figures from MyComicShop. If donors wish to leave their books on this thread, then they will be up for sale for the near future.
I'm not sure how I can express how wonderful I think you all are. I want to say something profound, but it's beyond me...so I will just say this to ALL of you...
-
Thank you all...for being so kind...and those are wonderful offerings!
Someone wrote to me before to apologize for not buying anything. His note made me remember that I should mention that I have Jim's PP address in case anyone wants to make a cash donation. I know we said that many pages ago, but it gets lost.
Every small donation adds up...so if you would like his PP account, or his address to send a check, just PM me.

Wonder Woman #52 from 1952. This was one of the harder issues to find while I was completing my run. I never had it slabbed because of the grade. It's still a little nicer than most low grade copies I see around, not that there are so many, but I have looked. There are 29 on the census if you are looking for scarcity. The books in the 50's are especially hard to find. 1952 which had an odd page count, 10 pages on each side of the staple.
There is a piece detached lower right at the bottom of the spine, a 2"+ split top of spine and the 2 other small pieces out of the front. The detached piece will be in a bag on the back of the backing board. Pages are in the Cr/OW range. Color on the cover is nice. It should grade at least 2.0, I wouldn't be shocked at 2.5.
$175.00shipped U.S. or Canada, all goes to Jim.Now $150 shippedSOLD

I have very good news today...from Jim:) twofold, the numbers and the water jug:) We can definitely make it to $33k which I believe will be the 2nd largest amount we've raised as a forum. I'm hopeful that we can make it to $35k. Several people mentioned donating something in the past 10 days...I know it's a busy time, but if you were thinking about it, now would be a good time, please. That way I can stop interfering with the people trying to have sales here...and I will stop worrying about Jim needing a food bank.
From Jim!
"At a quarter till noon, 1/07/24, we are tentatively at $32,957.99
I'm told they ran out of flower emojis and had to order new ones. Thank you, my friends. GOD BLESS....
-jimbo(a friend of jesus)
Still a bit of good and bad, filled my own water jug yesterday. I'm having to watch my grumpiness I have a LOT to be thankful for. "

Richie Rich and Casper Sold 2x;)
I had these books up for a day or so, and hide the post because I was traveling.Originally I think I was asking $100 shipped in the U.S. I'm going to lower that to $50 shipped in the U.S. and I'll match the $50.00
I will ship to Canada if someone from there wants them, if you add the extra postage (which I will donate to Jim)
There are 20 books. I know I'm missing the grade on one of them, but I can't get to them until tomorrow or Monday to check which one. Colors are a lot nicer than the pictures and pages are nice.

Hi everyone, unfortunately I have some bad news to share about the Dopey Challenge. Due to expected mid-morning storms, the half marathon course has been shortened to only 7 miles. Basically the distance that I just did today.
Can’t be mad at anyone, the weather does what it does, but it is disappointing and will leave me with a feeling of having unfinished business (Disney is still awarding the full slate of Dopey medals despite the modification).
Honestly, I’m going to sand bag tomorrow and use it as a recoup day for the marathon (clear skies forecast for Sunday). I was looking forward to the half marathon to put Nashville’s ghost to bed, and 7 miles just isn’t a challenge in comparison. I’ll still do the miles, but it might take an hour 45. Ergo, I won’t be setting a modified time goal for tomorrow.
I’ll figure out how this affects my bonus clauses after the marathon.
Good luck, Matt!

These items are listed on the MyComicShop Site with all the proceeds going to Jim...Conan was kind enough to offer a zero percent charge. One book on the list is at auction starting tomorrow, the others have bins. If the set price books don't sell shortly, Conan will decide which ones to move to auction...as the idea is to get Jim funds sometime soon if possible.
I know there were several other books mailed to Conan for Jim, so keep a lookout for those as well:).

Good evening, I'm typing this earlier tonight:)
I believe I've answered or posted on every PM. In case you don't know why you are getting from me, or brief replies, I keep every PM for each of these threads, just in case there are ever any questions and if I'm not the last poster, I keep answering so I don't think I have a new PM.
If you sent me something and I have not replied, it means I missed it among 150 others and since there is no way to sort easily, if you need me to answer or update some info, just bump the pm please.
It looks like we still have 7 items that have not been paid for yet. I will probably take another look through my pms before sending notes, but it's possible that some of you didn't include either me or David in a PM so I just don't have the info yet. If you just haven't paid yet, please take the time to do that before Sunday or post what is going on.
Here is Jim's update for today:) There was another part of our pm where I asked Jim how he was feeling and he was talking about vertigo and nausea.
"All my doctors know. It's common with the stroke I had. It's one of the main focuses with my physical therapy. It may never go away. Rest actually seems to make it worse. I'm definitely trying to comply, but insisted from the beginning that I did not want this candy coated. Still, I'm optimistic. Unless this unexpectedly turns for the worst, I may avoid being a burden to others. That's my biggest fear. I can dress, clean, and feed myself, use the facilities (except the shower), take my own meds, and tell you what day it is. It could be SO much worse. Working again may likely be out of the question. My boss's brother is on permanent SSI for vertigo alone. He takes meds, but they sometimes fall short. No matter what, you and the boards gave me a fighting chance with this difficult burden. I just hope that someday I can "pay it forward". GOD BLESS ...

...sorry this response took so long to "peck out
As of 11:30a.m., 1/04/24, we are tentatively at $30,844.34."
Since that time, Jim got another payment for $500 for a book that was purchased, so the Grand total so far is $31,344.34

We also got an anonymous donor who wrote to me an hour before this sale (I was not home and didn't read the note until just now) who also put us over $30k, so Jim, you had double Angels today! @jimjum12

@miraclemet Thank you, CHarlie and Dave @davet75 and everyone else!! That's quite a milestone!
We still have the books at Mycomicshop, Matt's race (good luck) and a few more things going on, so if it's OK with everyone else, I will keep going here for a bit.
Afterall, we have all seen things get more expensive... so it would be good for Jim to not have to worry so much while he recuperates

My apologies, I try to answer PMs the same day, but right now I am WAY behind on checking my mail, but I should be able to catch up tomorrow. There are a few donations that were taken and not paid for. It's possible, we just missed the PM, so I will update the spreadsheet and send reminders out Saturday or before.

OK, sorry for the delay, but this is really good news...we are so close to $30k, the forum has been simply AMAZING...I think that there is a commercial or something with that song;)
Anyway...Here is Jim's update...early today...
