Junie Prom #6: Moderate crease upper left back cover

Somebody out there lend a brother a hand and show me what the heck is being flagged in this note.  I see a moisture stain (with a tideline and mildew), and I see a faint shadow along the upper left edge, but my old eyes can't find even a small crease (let alone a "moderate" one).

I don't see a crease either. I ended at 6.5, because I'm usually under...so if I took my first guess, I would have gotten it correct by accident;)

Haha. On a serious note, there should be no bags, backpacks, purses, etc allowed in any room that has books. Employees should have a locker room where they can secure their bags. Body cavity searches would probably be unnecessary because we all know what that would do to the grade that no clean and press would ever fix.

First person to invent a "paper" detector is going to make a fortune!

We are grading from scans and not actual books, CGC's own standards bob and weave as you describe, etc etc. A lot of really good graders here end up in the middle or even the back of the pack. If you can look at the posted books and get even 'in the ballpark' on CGC grades for half of them, you are way, *way* ahead of the average comic grader out there.

Absolutely...my aim every time is not to win, but to be in the top 50% . I keep saying, it's guess the CGC grade, not what you would grade it. When I grade something for myself   I always go to the lower grade if I'm split between two. Makes less trauma for me in case I want to sell it later on...and I'm not disappointed if it goes for a little less.  Here, I'm bumping everything...some I bump a little too much and some I just can't figure out WHY it's so high...like the 9.2 last round that I had as a 7.5. I stretched that one from a 7.0 lol...;)

I find if I do well on one or two rounds ...I probably won't on the next few...I just like listening to the chatter...I learned something the other day. I had NO idea they bumped Pedigree books...so I bumped the one this round and I think I was still a little too low.

  4. I still find the glare confusing. I had 3 bullseyes, and was off by one on the first book, but the Iron Man...I KNEW the white was glare, but I was seeing issues with the lower staple because of the white and since spine lines were mentioned and I couldn't see them, I lowered the grade a lot for both those issues.

There are less glare lines lately, so there is an improvement, but I'm lost when I see the white lines, I mess up every time. Many other people seem to be OK with it...I guess.

I'm not unhappy with the 5 points...I'm thrilled to be in the top half with so many great graders playing, but I wish they would do less very dark books, or fix the glare issue.
