  1. An easy one to keep things moving. What was the original name of Mickey Mouse's pal Goofy? Jack I'm glad I posed an easy question. Jack zzzzzzzz

  4. Solar, Man of the Atom (debatable, since the original was from Gold Key -- but that version didn't mention Muskogee, did it?) Jack even squares can have a ball
  5. Nice batch of Marvels! The Avengers 7 cover always cracks me up with the villains all doin' the hand jive. Ol' Zima and Enchantress both seem quite transfixed by Thor's nether regions. Did he split his tights? Jack
  6. Am I the only one that hears Television singing "Little Johnny Gru-elle, Oh, he's so cool" in my mind's ear whenever this name comes up? Probably. Jack "I want my little wing-head" :o Now, THAT'S an obscure reference from out of left field. Obscure?? From me, Prof Mainstream?? I should have known. I think you put it under the Bayeux Tapestry. One of my absolute favorite bands, esp. Marquee Moon! First time I heard the whole Little Johnny Jewel single was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. There's a display at the beginning with the top 100(?) most important I think, or most influential, singles and lots of headphones. That casette is their live album. At least released on CD a year or so ago, right? Verlaine's later stuff is good too. Jack
  7. You know my style -- I post 'em wherever they belong regardless of grade. Most weeks, no one tells me to cease and desist more than once or twice! And ALL of my books are cool. Jack
  8. Catching up on lots of posts today... Am I the only one that hears Television singing "Little Johnny Gru-elle, Oh, he's so cool" in my mind's ear whenever this name comes up? Probably. Jack "I want my little wing-head"
  9. HOLY FUDD!! Amazing. I wonder how many of these you outbid me on from drskull. Now you don't have to bike tonight. Jack
  10. If only Bob Kane did a few Batman covers -- that would have been so cool too! Jack
  11. Mister Pipsisewah! HAW! Even the lettering is beautiful. Jack
  12. Great stuff! Pretty odd, associating Hercules with dinosaurs, but then the Warnerverse has a unique natural history to produce talking rabbits and ducks. Jack
  13. HAH! You have the real thing! I should have known. Jack
  14. WOW -- you're on fire! I like the back better than the front cover! What is that odd turkey protuberance that the Mouse Indian is hacking at? I see that the Our Gang story is "The gang prevent a murder at the movie studio" that was reprinted in Fantagraphics Vol 1. Great stuff! Congrats again. Jack
  15. HOLY FUDD! Great catch. Another one that will probably keep me from getting a full Four Color run. Sight unseen from ebay or a dealer? Is it 100% Raggedy Ann & Andy contents? Did the supporting cast change later? I only recognize Snoopwiggy (love that name). Congrats! Jack
  16. Very nice! Interesting that the Flame on the cover of #1 (previous page) is almost not quite identical to the pose here. If Fine was saving time, I wonder why he didn't trace or use a photostat. Do you suppose it was actually quicker for him to redraw? Jack
  17. I like your dishrags Jack. A-a-a-aw-w-w! Well, I'm not afraid to take them out of the baggies to read them! Except sometimes I have to use a tarp to catch the chips. Jack
  18. Since The Flame is showing up, I might as well post #1 here. (I don't think I have already.) Yeah, it's a dishrag, but it's my dishrag. Pretty funny-looking under a Larson. Jack
  19. Metamorpho and Sapphire Stagg prototype! (It's required that I mention that every time.) Jack
  20. I missed that rough offering from Scrooge. It'd be right at home in my boxes. I'm not sure where to put these. Short Bus material? Tim Holt 18 Jul-50. Most people would probably seat a Magazine Enterprises on the SB, but this one has a nice Ghost Rider story by D ick Ayers. I'm beginning to think that The Fox and the Crow have enough fans here to qualify for the Long Bus! Here's #21 from Dec-54 (Golden Age? close enough) with a classic DC deep green cover. Could Golden Age funny animals support their own thread? (Is there a dormant one?) Jack PS: There's the active Ducks thread, but I don't think that Fox and Crow would be welcome there.
  21. Respectable copy of Witches Tales 18 from Apr-53, a gory Harvey pre-code horror book featuring a big, scary bird on the cover. The bird snacks on the bad on "on-panel". Jack
  22. Since I scanned them for the 1-365 thread, I might as well sort these books into their threads. Spy-Hunters 18 Jul-52, an unusual ACG anti-Communist book featuring a flamethrower cover. Dennis almost loved his copy to death. Jack
  23. gottal love witch-maidens in orange funny-books. very nice. I'll beat ciorac to the punch and compliment you for displaying age-appropriate lust this time. Jack
  24. That's #1, right? Nice copy! I've enjoyed the issues I've read. Clean artwork (apparently mostly by Hall) and imaginative stories, once you get over the slight creepiness of puppets walking around. I often like the slapstick Flub-a-Dub gags the best. Jack
