  1. Wellllllllll worth $5.00! Congratulations!!! Andy Thanks. I was partially posting to try out the new, easier way to post a scan as an attachment. Did the pic show up directly in the message? Nice board improvement. That was the only war book, but this purchase was full of good stuff. DC 10 to 15 cent romances, Jerry Lewis for a buck (attractive vg+), Star-Spangled Comics 80 starring everybody's fave Robin, etc. Jack
  2. I don't buy a lot of war books, but couldn't resist this one for under $5. Despite the obvious defects, a pretty nice copy. Jack
  3. Low grade (GD- from a very tight grader) but I've got no complaint at the price. Thrilled enough to post the seller's ebay photo instead of waiting to receive it. Only B&B 28 to go (and I've got plenty of reprints of that one) to a full run of Justice League of America! All the Justice League series up to the proliferation of JL series that DC has released the last couple of years, in fact. Jack
  4. This was the first, and still one of the few, Richie Rich books indexed at GCD -- by me. It even features two elements! Jack Anyone else besides me find this book a little out of place? Then again it does feature gold!
  5. Great books, BZ. Thanks. I can hardly believe it -- after all these pages, BZ finally posted 2 books that I also own! But Porky seems to have ignored the just-given advice, "Don't turn on the lights until you find your underwear!" Jack he such a PEEEG!
  6. Whaddya think you're doing? No posting content until people are done complaining about the new format! Interesting comment about the dime novels, but this is puzzling. Why did "The R o v e r Boys" display as "The RevenueLinksCensoredToStopSpam Boys" in the post but not in the quote of it? Is "RevenueLinksCensoredToStopSpam" the new *spoon*? Is there something I don't know about the word R o v e r? Jack enjoying the lack of insipid smileyfaces today!
  7. I'd like to see your copies of: Porky Pig Four Color 78, 156, 182, 284 Roy Rogers Four Color # 63, 95 Science Comics # 7 Shmoo Comics # 1 Slam Bang Comics # 2, 4, 5, 6 (more Diamond Jack on 2, 5?) Smilin' Jack Four Color # 14 Thanks! Jack (will be Smilin')
  8. These are two completely different concepts. Notice that on the cover of Slam-Bang, Diamond Jack is on a field of yellow and that doesn't stop him from melting that machine gun. What more proof can there be that no similarities exist? Of course. How could I be such a fool? Cubic Zirconia Jack
  9. How 'bout that? I've never seen Diamond Jack. A guy in a green suit battling crime with his magic ring, just three months before another guy in a green suit battling crime with his magic ring appears at DC! www summary of the character The site does a detailed comparison with Green Lantern. "Powers: Had a black diamond embedded into a ring which allowed him to create whatever appeared in his mind. " Great copy, BZ, and great hero name too! Jack
  10. Did you notice how he just can't resist showing off that trash can? I think he owns stock in the company that makes them. Jack
  11. The husband's face in the last tier of p 2 and first tier of p 3 reminds me of some of the manga artists -- Tezuka, for example. (Who was influencing whom? Drawing from similar sources?) Jack
  12. Yeah, that's what I do with all my comics worth over $1000 too. Easy! It took no time at all. Jack
  13. Odd that Martian Nazis use a reversed swastika on their flag but not their armbands. Kcaj
  14. You might need nerves of steel when inserting that Detective 27 into a mylar. But some of those super thin acid loving sheets for migrating acids to put in your GA stuff. Invite me and Shield over and we'll help you do it...for we have nerves of steel. And lots of 'em, inviting yourself over like that! Those super-thin acid-loving sheets might not be thick enough. Jack
  15. That's incredible Bangzoom! I see the Actions are next in line. Can we please see them? I like how they're casually strewn in random orientations at the edge. What a showman. Jack
  16. HAW! Someone beat me to the punch. I couldn't find a live poster link. JPS I loved the 70's movie....... I think he meant Flash Gordon, not Flesh Gordon, Bill. JPS
  17. Yep! It's the same story Ryan was kind enough to post about a month ago...the villain who manipulates an army of gorillas until they turn on him and tear him apart (literally). Thanks. That was a gem. I've got to get the F Hanks book soon. Jack
  18. Actually, she looks surprisingly blasé, considering that she's tied to a charging rhino. I'm having trouble picturing the guys tying her to the rhino. Did she pass out after her fifth margarita and this was some kind of frat-boy prank? "Here's the rope. Tie her on." "Why do I always have to tie the babe to the enraged jungle beast?" "Cuz your'e the pledge." Great looking book. Is there a Fantomah (sp?) in this issue? Jack ......."hunny can you get me off this rhino"...."damn can't you do anything yourself" That is a great book!
  19. Cool set. OS notes the existence of an undersized, B&W #5 in the series, and GCD has a open space for it. Gerber mentions two "Gordon Bread giveaways", which could be the same thing. Does anyone here have those? Who drew the covers? Are they Harvey house artist swipes of Raymond panels? Jack
  20. I agree, I'd love to see Krazy Kat close-ups. The Li'l Abners are also gorgeous. Were those done by Capp himself, or do you know which "assistant"? Got any Walt Kelly originals? Thanks! Jack
  21. And before Superboy, there was a Thrilling Wonder Stories cover. Good ol' Mort Weisinger. Evanier's version and his source. Jack
  22. AWP! I'm not sure that I like the way BB is lining up that punch! A great look at some unfamiliar covers, BZ. Thanks. Jack
  23. Congrats. How many issues are there total? One of those titles with volume/number numbering and I'm too tired to add them up. About 100? CHEMICAL GIANT?!?! What's his shtick? Any good chemistry tricks or mentions of specific elements by name? Thanks, Jack
  24. Flame-Girl!?!?!? Fox just couldn't resist, could they? Did she ever make a cover appearance? Anyone have an interior scan? Same costume? Jack
  25. I could burn Mr. Blondie to a crisp -- nah, I'll just flatten him with an All-American roundhouse punch while the fuse of that bomb next to my ankle burns down to a few millimeters! Jack
