  1. Ditto. Creators for network fare may be slowly waking up to the fact of an afterlife on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and the like. There's such a competition for quality series now. So even if a network botches things with bad time-slots and poor support, it's not necessarily "the end".
  2. I didn't see that coming. SPOILER!!!!! I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know, I don't wanna know...
  3. The coverless might have value in the Custom Binding community, depending on what's in there. Using cover scans some hobbyist might be able cobble together a shelf-worthy custom hardcover of some favorites.
  4. Eisner, Foster, Caniff, Cole, Raymond... they had proper artists back in those days. Thank you. I kept wondering if anyone was going mention Alex Raymond, who has to be one of the most influential artists of "Ever...Ever", according to many of the artists making the list. Yes - Raymond and Foster (thumbs u Now I have to back and finish reading the thread, see how long it took for someone to mention Matt Baker.

  6. Just finished Uncaged by Michelle Cook & John Sandford. It's aimed at the mammoth YA market, but it's a thriller anyone would enjoy. Fresh creative plot-twists, fully rendered characters and a real page-turner.
  7. 8. Looking more at that Play Arts line, I think they're meant to be hyper-stylized alternative "variant" imaginings of DC characters. One of those "eye of the beholder" lines people either love instantly or wonder wtf? Check out The Flash sculpt and it leaps out at you. I'm wondering if official "Style Guides" for Licensees are a thing of the past. With all the deformed, pop, bobblehead, anime, bombshells and such appearing, character copyright holders may be expanding into every 'collector' toy, doll, statue and figure market possible. No limits, style away and lets see what you got. If you can sell it, we're in.
  9. Some sandpaper, paint and about five minutes it could be crashed into a unique Iron Man armor. That's what I see looking at the figures proportions and armor styling details. Look at the waistline and especially the feet. It's like a form-fitting exoskeleton. Darkseid traditionally is a massively thick bodytype, a Hulk-ish blockheaded hamfisted brute.
  10. One of the Best Darkseid designs I have ever seen and by far one of the best statues I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a HUGE Darkseid fan and this piece just seems "off" to me. It has a very strong "anime" style to it. And honestly, if it weren't labeled I'm not sure I would recognize it as Darkseid. It could be any manga/anime fantasy character. (what's that big red Jewel in his chest anyway?)
  11. AP="Artist Proof". (thumbs u That's probably where the "12 made" comes in, before any regular production run. (just guessing)
  12. From what I understand there was 12 of them made. Not sure who made it but the person who sold it to me is looking into it for me. The cost was more than I should have paid for a statue but not so much that I have buyers remorse. Google shows it as Halimaw Sculptures out of the Philippines, produced around 2010. Halimaw Sculptures Facebook Page The sculptor comes up as Alex Arevalo, aka Oceansean. There's some cool images of it on the net.
  13. I'd slip over from STL to post on "Charter Member" Ewert's miraculous resubs. Eventually there were so many shenanigan-threads over here it was easier to stick around. The trimming scandal emerged, PCS wailings, pressing debates, it was a damn lively board for quite some time.
  14. Legal obligation and moral obligation are two different things. There's no LEGAL obligation to do so, in my opinion there is a moral obligation, and I judge people accordingly. I think we have a moral obligation to tell you to give it a rest. You're single handedly killing the thread… Amen! Man, I feel horrible I engaged in what seemed like, on the surface, a typical conversation. This is consistently one of the best threads on the board. Normally I don't like things going *poof* around here, but if Mods were to clean up all the 'hijacking' posts, including mine, it would be great. Conversing with zealotry is boring. Wading through it all is worse.
  15. That's a fairly strong take on it. Every knowledgeable buyer has a moral obligation to turn advocate for any amateur seller they encounter? Yes. Basically. When they're unknowingly selling a six to seven figure collectible for pocket change at a yard sale, a decent human being would inform them. A scumbag would laugh all the way to the bank. I get the concept, I really do. (thumbs u There's a boundary I think you take it beyond. If she took it to a professional seller and asked for info and an offer, yeah, they have a moral obligation for honesty and fair treatment. If she asked a neighbor kid to help haul out her deceased husband's belongings and he notices it while rummaging , yep, he has a moral obligation to inform her of its significance. The dividing line, the boundary, is the Marketplace. Once an item is on the open market for a voluntary price, it's in the wide open out on the Serengeti plain asking to be consumed. At that point, if a buyer chooses to share their good fortune with the seller, fine. But it's not a moral obligation, nor are they a "scumbag" if they choose not to. Mercy in the market is a gift given, not an obligation.
  16. That's a fairly strong take on it. Every knowledgeable buyer has a moral obligation to turn advocate for any amateur seller they encounter? How do you know the buyer's $100 isn't preventing her from just throwing it away? Those type of 'garage' sales are always qiuck-flip situations where sellers are dumping possessions quickly, to be done immediately and move on. Treasures mixed with trash are the whole allure. There's nothing predatory about finding advantage in those situations.
  17. Looks like they gave him graywings ala Reed Richards or Paulie. "Old" Wayne and "young" Kent is going to be a weird dynamic, take some getting used to. For 75 years they've always been contemporaries.
  18. Alfred? Penguin Before the eating disorder? aka Barnabas Collins.
  19. Yeah, you can't let figures and statues get the better of you. There's so much awesomeness now a home could quickly look like the Action Figure Museum in Oklahoma.
  20. What are these? Sideshow? It's impossible to tell the scale from the photo. Are they like ultra-high-end Mego? The Batman looks really good, sculpt wise.
  21. Yep. "Shortly" as in "now". PRESALE $220. Some items just have "secondary market" written all over them.
  22. Bet this Quinn "con exclusive" vanishes quick.
