  1. I'm not disagreeing with any of that. I just hope they don't try to morph ST in to some Star Wars wannabe, Rebels vs. an evil Federation type stuff, all edgy and anarchy. At it's core Star Trek has always reflected back the best of humanity. Interesting morality tales. Explorers. But, who can say. "Breaking Bad In Space" could be the best thing eva.
  2. With Netflix I watched Enterprise and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. And how much I missed that universe. Now I'm slowly going back through ST:NG episodes... Star Trek really deserves to be an ongoing tv serial. But the whole "far flung future where the Utopia Federation that we knew from other TV series had become boring and complacent" sounds somewhat goofy. They'd be crazy to discard all the Universe-building they've managed to create over decades.
  3. Thanks. (thumbs u That's probably for the best. The movie is a long ways off and plenty of time for more readers to experience the novel for themselves. No way a movie is going to capture all the detail and nuance, not matter how well done. Book first, then the movie.
  4. Thank you delekkerste for this recommendation! Ready Player One was everything you say, and then some. Pure fun, great characters, and an ultra-cool adventure. On one of the Quest "puzzles", I read right past it, moving along... Not even thinking, an answer just popped into my mind from nowhere. Later on, when the solution was revealed, it made me feel extra-nerdy (and old) that I somehow guessed right. Anyway, thanks again. It was a real treat. (thumbs u Started a movie-thread about Spielberg doing Ready Player One. And it's been just about long enough for a re-read...or two. If you read, you owe it to yourself, seriously. And thanks again to Delekkerste for pointing it out in the first place.
  5. Steven Spielberg is set to direct Ready Player One, the highly anticipated project based on the popular sci-fi book by Ernest Cline
  6. I remember reading that series, the Rho Agenda trilogy. Really enjoyed it. (thumbs u
  7. The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly and Deadline by John Sandford.
  8. Everything about this show so far says "comfortable shoes". They're probably going to have to either offend no one, or entertain anyone.
  9. Wow. Read his description. "1 old spiderman figure from the 40's or 50's" Woops. Yeah, 50's. Back when Superman wore red Batman gauntlets. If you use the eBay Zoom feature you can make out the molded-in Bat symbol underneath the S-shield paint-over. Good luck and be careful. (thumbs u
  10. It looks like a custom/crashed figure imho. The belt is Batman, the gloves are Batman. The boots could be from anything. Ditto the cape. You'd have better luck having boardie action figure experts try and identify the individual parts. Maybe. The torso/abdomen is very distinctive. Armor? Anyway, that unique design area may be your best indicator. Match that up to something and you'll know what figure was used.
  11. Took out that horrible background for a better look. Didn't help much. There's red-piping on the blue shirt and other details, but still. You'd think pro costumers should be able to design something better than the world of cosplay. Without the yellow of the S-Sheild it's just an emblem pointing down, the belt points down, and the cape is long. The overall effect is "hangs" or "drapes" rather than "fits". "Heavy" or something. Could be the camera angle and lights.
  12. Put whoever the fight-choreographers were on 'Spartacus: War of the Damned' on it. That had some great female warrior scenes. There was one where a woman came flying into the scene airborne, twin daggers in her hands, locked her legs on her enemy's upper torso and worked both sides of his neck as he stood. Just brutal. They would do Red Sonja justice.
  13. What a great room! Love the large Superman Animated bust. (thumbs u I've had one on a bookcase looking down over my shoulder for years now. (yes Clark, my desk is a mess. Stop judging me! )
  14. I'm guessing the Dragonfly is a re-imagining of 1964's XB-70 Valkyrie as a smaller personal craft. Sleek design, way ahead of it's time.
  15. Looking ahead... Batman The Bad Seed The Omen VI Growing Pains vs. Robin. And, oh yeah, Court of Owls.
  16. I wanted to read your Atlantis review and maybe watch it again later before being too brutal on it. So just a couple of thoughts... An initial reaction during the opening sequence was "Uh oh." The voice-acting seemed very flat and emotionless in relation to the drama and action taking place. Like they were reading a laundry list or something. But maybe the Navy trains submariners not to react to stress...at all. And I 100% agree about Shazam. It's like they totally ignore 'Shazam' is supposed to be a magical acronym for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, Mercury. Right? The "wisdom of Solomon", and so on. They could write Shazam 'adult, but very naive', but for some inexplicable reason they go with Billy-in-a-big-body-brain-farts. Annoying as hell.
  17. Google "Museum Putty" and check out different brands and reviews. It's primarily used to keep things from moving, sliding, rattling and shaking loose. Some small strategically placed bits may do the trick.
  18. Why not go with a regular "curio cabinet"? There are probably decent lighted ones for under $500. Something along these lines (it's not lighted though)... Wildon Home Curio Cabinet - $219.99, free shipping
  19. Holy , that looks great. Out of curiosity, how is the figure attached to the base? As much as I love that amazing sculpt I'm not too crazy about the base. It gives it a Donner-verse vibe in my mind. I'd rather it have an art deco architecture cornice, eagle or griffin, custom skyscraper-type base. Like the Chrysler building or something. Metropolis instead of North Pole.
  20. I think this thread was started in CG and got moved. Or I imagined it was. Not sure.
  21. Your mention of Knight Time reminds me of why I'm such a fan of Superman:TAS. The Tim Daly interpretation of Superman is pitch-perfect imho. In my mind it runs from Superman:TAS s1e1 up to your #1 pick, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. I think that was his last performance. There's a calm, kinder confidence there that's missing in the more recent "new 52" animated incarnation. He comes across as a bit of an aloof snarky jerk with an 'I'm all that, and then some' attitude.
