  1. That's the kind of show I miss as well. There is one small show local to me that has some of that but it also has people selling nothing but $1 moderns and other garbage. One guy sets up at every show with several long boxes of recent comics all priced at a buck a piece. I'm sure there are some people interested in that but it ain't me. His tables never seem packed with browsers either. There are only a couple people who set up at that show who have the material that I remember from shows of old, tons of boxes filled with older stuff and a large number of wall books. Next month I'm hitting another local show that I've never been to. Hoping it's good.
  2. Like shooting fish in a barrel. So predictable. Conditioned like Pavlov's dog to react to what I say.
  3. I've changed my mind. Let's keep the like function. Much more fun this way
  4. It would be glorious and because of that reason will never be allowed. Everybody gets a trophy!!
  5. Oooh! I like it Can Jackwagonfro be far behind? He wears many hats
  6. This was my thought exactly. Besides, it makes me feel good when people "like" my posts. You're joking right?
  7. You dare to mock the Andru! Oh, I dare. I double dare in fact
  8. ASM had Ditko, then Romita, then Kane, then..........Andru????? Blargh!!! Better than Larsen though. Double blargh!!
  9. I love the look on Blue Beetle's face. It's like he's mugging for the camera while punching out Hitler.
  10. I hate unnecessary u's, even though I'm forced to use them now Favourite has been the preferred spelling in British English for several centuries, but this does not mean that favorite is a late arrival to the language or even American in origin. In fact, the OED lists instances of favorite from as long ago as the 17th century. Milton used it in Paradise Lost and, and William Wordsworth used it around 1800 (and many more examples are easily found in historical Google Books searches). The preference for favourite was not well established in British English until the first half of the 19th century, which is around the same time Americans settled on what is now their spelling. P.S. Someone needs to start a new 20 questions, but I don't want it to be me. Are you trying to class up this joint?
  11. From what I remember, you're not missing much.
  12. Will O the Wisp could be a very good villain. There's some potential there. Certainly, he wasn't a joke like Big Wheel or some of those other schlubs.
  13. Such a fun story in that one. My favorite Fanfare issues are 1-4, 15, 18, 29, 43, 45, 47, and 51. So much great stuff to explore in that series. But a lot of mediocre stuff as well. One complaint would be too much Ken Steacy art, which I never cared for and focus on some characters (such as Sky Wolf. Sky Wolf???, Weirdworld, , Power Pack, Shanna, four issues on Shanna? Really?, and others) I never got into.
  14. Probably a cover that for whatever reason an editor decided not to use at the time Bernie submitted it in'72 and then finally got used in the 80s. Here is another one.
  15. Nice write up pruney. I'm amazed that I Vampire went 30 issues. That's a pretty impressive run.
  16. your fault Me? I like everyone
  17. I agree. I think TTA 27 has held on for so long because it's acceptance as the first Ant Man goes back decades. It's so ensconced in comic fandom as the 1st app that I don't think it's ever going to change
  18. If you haven't, you guys should check out the thread below. Marvel Premiere should get more consideration as the true 1st appearance of who we know of today as Adam Warlock. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/315707-warlock-first-appearance-marvel-premiere-1/#comment-7273150
