  1. Nope, it's not you being bitter. He's probably the #1 all-time scammer in the comic hobby and deserves your contempt, scorn, and derision. He just did what he had to do to stay in business
  2. The stories were good but I couldn’t warm up to Luke McDonnell’s art at the time. I agree. I loved the shiny metallic look of the Romita Jr/Layton Iron Man. Didn't like the muted McDonnell version. Denny O'Neil did some good stuff on that run though
  3. There is a big difference between early 70s DC horror and later 70s DC horror. If you're talking early 70s DC horror I agree completely but by the time of 35 cent cover prices, the gap between Charlton and DC was not nearly as wide as many would think.
  4. Nice. Is that Alex Toth? Some of the artwork from those Charlton titles is so underrated/under appreciated Doesn't appear to be and according to comics.org it isn't clear exactly who the cover artist is. https://www.comics.org/issue/171727/
  5. @JOENAVY As has been mentioned already the whole story can't be told solely from the grader's notes. Please post pics (good, large high quality pics that show the entire book) and then we can give you our opinions.
  6. Fandom disagrees with you. If you want to consider those examples to be first full then go for it and who knows, maybe someday collectors will recognize that. Right now they don't and the market certainly doesn't.
  7. Looking at all those 1940s, 50s, 60s, newsstand and drug store pictures, showing rows of what were at that time new comics, always makes me drool. Can you imagine seeing that as a 10 year old?
  8. I start it at 108, the first Byrne issue because I love Byrne's work from this period but yeah, either way great run.
  9. Have you actually, you know, seen George Tuska's art? I know taste in art is subjective but yikes!
  10. I agree. That's what I would start with. Goes to about 154/155 as I recall
  11. Big thanks once again to Dr.X for a great contest. It's become a yearly highlight for me. Always a fun time.
