  1. I've decided to dip my toes into Magazine collecting.
  2. I've got Marvel burn out, big time. Monster movies are alive and well. They keep churning out Godzilla movies and someone will remake King Kong yet again. The SyFy channel makes a living on monster movies. Most of them are utter crap though.
  3. Some people feel that way, yes but blanket statements like that are complete rubbish. There are a number of reasons why people don't slab and it's not necessarily due to someone trying to pull the wool over your eyes when it comes to the grade. Myself? I would never assign a 9.8 grade to a raw comic that I was trying to sell but that's just me.
  4. The way I look at it is, I no longer buy new cards, haven't played since the late 90s and have no plans to go back to playing so why am I keeping these cards? I might as well sell them, make a few bucks, and someone else can use of them/enjoy them. Sure, I can hold in hopes of values increasing even further but you can say that about all collectibles.
  5. Well in that regard I agree with you. I'm not sure why now is the time for Hobgoblin to explode. It's probably due to the fact that from a collectibles standpoint we're living in a very silly time and all boats are being floated as a result
  6. Just that some of the crazy price increases we are seeing don’t seem justified in my eyes. But maybe all 1st appearances, whether or not major, medium or minor, are hot and I guess that’s all that matters right now Here's the thing. People said the same thing about ASM 300 and Hulk 181, and even at one time, AF 15. There's always someone who poo poos the idea that a particular key is overvalued and how can this possibly continue to go on. And then it goes on.
  7. What has Hobgoblin really done of any significance after his 1st major arc? As soon as Norman came back, Hobgoblin has more or less (and rightly so) disappeared. And despite all that the book is surging right now so what was your point?
  8. Last week I was going through boxes looking for my 1990 Marvel cards and came across a box with card binders filled only with sports cards, or so I thought. One binder was all Magic cards. I completely forgot about this binder. This is some of what was in it.
  9. WWT had some great covers, but that one is among the very best (14 and 15 also up there). LD is very underrated. The Dominguez appreciation thread. Many of the image link are dead unfortunately. >> https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/73951-luis-dominguez-appreciation-thread/#comments
  10. Did Miller have a coughing fit when he signed that?
  11. No, Hobgoblin is nowhere near as big as Venom. He could have been but Marvel effed up the whole Hobgoblin story. Still, Hobby was pretty big (really big) stuff before Venom was around.
  12. All I know is that I should have never opened up all those boxes back between Alliances and the Urza sets. Holy carp, what those sealed boxes are going for now.
  13. Make sure your storage environment is best for paper storage. Not always easy to do depending on your climate and storage area but that's probably more important than what bags and boards you use. I once came home from a show with a stack of bronze age comics that were in yellowed, sticky bags. I had to cut open the tops with a scissor because the tape had fused with the bags on a molecular level. The pages of the comics were snow white. That told me they were stored in a cool dry environment, as they should be.
  14. They do have a phone number. https://www.pedigreecomics.com/page/contact
  15. @PaulS. Are there plans for a dedicated card message board? It would be great to have one separate from this comic book board, for card fans. I hope it's seriously being considered for CSG.
  16. How long? I favor short ties myself I've always envisioned you as the clip-on tie kinda guy. Yes, and I have velcro sneakers too
  17. I confused. Should I be putting my pizza in the comic press?
