  1. Not sure it counts but this 4 issue limited series got bumped to 5 issues.
  2. Dark Horse reprinted Marvel Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword when they had the character’s rights in epic format. Just search eBay for “dark horse conan” and/or “Chronicles of Conan”. I think they also did King Conan in this format.
  3. Yes, I did miss this. The Lady of the Lake-- her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Marwood, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king! Well done/deserved. Will you be going for a pence registry set award.
  4. I know what you mean, these stories were intended to be in colour so you don’t get the proper finished product. On the plus side you do get to see the art in all its glory, unobstructed and no colour distractions - like mini artist editions.
  5. Couple more classic Steranko covers; Although original SHIELD #6 is always described as a classic cover and often pastiched it’s one of by least favourites by Jim.
  6. Nice find, very scarce. They came with a stick of bubble gum priced 5 cents. Marvel’s also included; spider-guy, fantastic fear, thaw, captive America and hunk. Gil Kane also provided art on the Marvel parodies (apart from Sub-marine man).
  7. Getting and reading Silver Surfer #10 on holiday in 1973 turned me into a comic collector. Here’s Alan’s version (compared to original version although there is a bit more building on the left looks like Alan has lost a soldier as well as another one cropped out of the bottom);
  8. I have thought about amending my spreadsheet to release dates but it’s a lot of work - maybe if we are in lockdown during the winter. Post 1971 I’m not sure there’s anything that can be deduced from release dates - new UKPVs will only be uncovered by diligence such as yours in finding the MSH and MTA issues. You’ve done “sterling” work.
  9. In your distribution thread I thought we had as near proved on sale dates were the driver (rather cover date) to Marvel UKPVs at least until 1971. • When UKPVs ceased in July 1971 we showed those with release date earlier than 13/4 had UKPVs, those later didn’t. * November 1971 giant Marvels - why some are 6p printed and some 8p with sticker was also explained by looking at release dates. * The randomness of the very first Marvels distributed was almost cleared by looking at release dates. I can’t recall if anyone (even me) looked at the missing ‘66 Marvels by sale date - will have to check. I agree with you that looking at release dates would give a clearer picture than looking at cover months. I think I said this when I did my very first table of Marvel T&P stamps although it would be a lot of work looking at four weeks of dates rather than one month cover date.
  10. Are you sure? I've been using Managed Payments for a year now, and funds are always released the next business day after tracking number has been uploaded I sell on eBayUK which may be different; Payment here is dependant on buyer paying, tracking and/or delivery are irrelevant. I have opted for weekly payments and I always get paid on Tuesday after buyer has paid irrespective of delivery. This week I sold a comic on Monday and got paid 8am Tuesday - before I had posted. I send some low value items without tracking which has no affect on when I get paid. I would prefer the old PayPal method but Managed payments hasn’t been an issue for me (although I don’t sell as a business so cash flow isn’t an issue).
  11. Not aware of any Marvel covers more than two (of which there are many). Can’t think of any issues at all more than four times, the only other four-er I can think of is Uncanny tales 31, 86 (which I posted earlier) 127 and 157. But there are probably others (that atlas cover of policeman walking down street seems ever present on eBay.
  12. Alan was a pioneer of recycling;
  13. An iconic Steranko cover, Alan Class style; I like that Alan has included a bullet hole logo.
  14. Came across this looking at my odds and sods. T&P stamp pre-printed, indicates just how ingrained these stamps were as a part of collecting in UK; (Hulk #180 - 182 @25p each. WWBN 32@12p - if only we’d known)
  15. Some more hidden Marvels; Reprints Captain America from TOS #65. and…… reprints Captain America from TOS #66, 67 and 68
  16. I’ve always thought the big inky stamp on #8 to be particularly ugly. I’m sure mine looks even uglier than the one you show.
  17. I’ve a few cap America’s and x-men 8 that I can think of. Spider-Man #3 also appears without a cover but I haven’t got that one.
  18. .. and on page 1 of this thread we have the reprint of first Spider-Man from Amazing Fantasy #15 which Alan didn’t see worthy of a cover appearance.
  19. There are several. I have posted some on this thread; pages 2, 3, and 5. I’ll post some more, although I haven’t got them all, I’ve acquired Alan Classes over the years rather than actively collected them.
  20. Yes but Alan had lost the policeman on the street corner.
  21. Yes. It’s getting increasingly difficult for me not to sell my Alan Class comics, it’s ingrained in my psyche that they have no monetary value so seeing them sell for these prices seems to be given money for nothing. Any way here’s one I recall getting on holiday in Cornwall - must have been an otherwise Marvel-less holiday; and a bit of Adams, can’t recall where I got this one but would have been for a couple pounds if not pence;
  22. Two very scarce books which don’t turn up often. I don’t recall ever seeing either in the flesh and don’t have either, although I do have this version of Spellbound Album;
  23. I recently sold from UK to US, sent first class, not through GSP. Took 3 days to get from UK to Chicago USPS facility and then didn’t move for 5 weeks until the buyer chased USPS, he got it 2 days later. My experience and posts from others I have read I think the issue is with USPS regather than eBay or GSP.
  24. Does FF#110 “green thing” existing as cents but not pence tell us anything about printing order? I’d always assumed it indicates cents was printed first with either plate or ink in wrong place before being spotted.
  25. Love that letter, if he’d sent it to me I would have it framed on my bathroom door to read it every day. Strange when someone you admire insults you it’s great! I especially like UK being described “some foreign country” Steve Ditko, Laurel and Hardy - three of my heroes in two posts!!! If you could work in Joe Strummer and Mr Holstein Pils this would be the best thread ever.
