  1. You bet there are! Including this otther one you posted: I wish I had some of those Real Screen Comics!
  2. The Superman and Batman Annuals on the newstand never tempted me as a kid. But the Flash Giants certainly did. I mean an issue with the mysterious Dr. Alchemy, Super-Gorilla Grodd and Pied Piper? Wow!
  3. Here are scans of my Showcase Tommy Tomorrow comics: Mohawk Valley copy
  4. Neither Strange Adventures nor Mystery in Space comics belong in this thread. They both have their own. This thread was created specifically for these four titles: House of Mystery House of Secrets Tales of the Unexpected (Although this title too has its own thread.) My Greatest Adventure Plus various odds and sods.
  5. I like to hit one of Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert whenever I'm in Montréal for either some rotisserie chicken or a hot chicken sandwich, plus a millefeuille of course: My favourite St-Hubert location is the one at La Gare Windsor: But since I'm not in Montréal, I settled for a big slice of one of these for supper yesterday:
  6. So I strolled down to the Metro supermarket in downtown Toronto at lunch and picked up a freshly baked submarine roll, three packets of mustard and a box of Hostess Cupcakes that were on sale: Back at the office I sliced the submarine roll in half and added the following items which I'd brought from home: A slice of Schneiders meat, macaroni and cheese loaf. A slice of Schneiders bologna. A slice of Schneiders ham. Two slices of Schneiders smoked turkey. A slice of Cracker Barrel marble cheddar cheese. A slice of Cracker Barrel Swiss cheese. A slice of Armstrong Monterey Jack cheese. Sliced tomatoes. Sliced cucumbers. Sliced radishes. Sliced onions. Lettuce. Three packets of mustard. Two packets of ketchup. Two packets of pepper. One packet of salt. I washed my office made sub down with a Coke. Since it was a big sandwich, I went moderate on dessert. I refrained from polishing off the entire box of cupcakes and ate only a two-pack. A delicious lunch to be sure! As an added bonus I'd put a dent in the surplus of ketchup packets we had in the office fridge. I hate to see good food go to waste.
  7. I've been making myself Dagwood sandwiches this week incorporating these ingredients: Three slices of Wonder bread. A slice of Schneiders ham. A slice of Piller's oven roast turkey. A slice of Piller's smoked chicken. A slice of Brandt olive/pimento loaf. A slice of Schneiders meat, macaroni and cheese loaf. A slice of Schneiders bologna. A slice of Cracker Barrel marble cheddar cheese. A slice of Cracker Barrel Swiss cheese. A slice of Armstrong Monterey Jack cheese. Sliced tomatoes. Sliced cucumbers. Sliced radishes. Sliced onions. Lettuce. Horseradish sauce. Gunk (a mustard, mayo and spice condiment). Mustard. Miracle Whip. Pepper. A tiny bit of salt.
  8. Great looking copy! Not too many titles feature better covers throughout the run.
  9. Here are scans of five of my Batman comics that I don't think I've posted yet:
  10. Cool! Giant puppets on covers sold comics in 1960. Here are scans of four more of my Green Lantern comics:
  11. Here are scans of a few more of my Superman comics I might not have posted yet:
  12. I can't even accept the premise of this thread that Avengers 1 is a slow grower in terms of price. Compare today's price to the twelve cents at which it was available only 52 years ago. Either that or compare its price today to that of almost all other comics that came out in 1964.
  13. I agree! And the title has a thread of its own: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2431365&fpart=44
  14. This thread badly needs a bump so I'll repost the scan of my favourite issue:
  15. Only for friendly discussion purposes. i'm not in the business of selling or trading my comic mags. And that's precisely why I didn't write about your 106 being worth a BOATLOAD... I have these two issues as well though: I believe they're classified as bigger "keys" or something like that. All I know is that I need too many of the issues below #116, and I'd still like to upgrade my #106 and #109!
  16. Interesting! It's issues 107 and 108 that appear to be the sweet, or rather sour, spot in the run.
  17. Only for friendly discussion purposes. i'm not in the business of selling or trading my comic mags.
  18. Here again are scans of my copies of two of the very toughest Flash comics of them all: Does anyone have census numbers for Flash 105-109?
  19. I tried something new yesterday - a Lemon Jell-O parfait. I mixed up the Lemon Jell-O with lemon juice in place of half the water. I let the mixture set. I then beat the Jell-O into a froth with an electric mixer. In another bowl I beat up some Neilson Whipping Cream. I then thoroughly mixed the contents of the two bowls together with a spoon to get a creamy frothy lemon parfait. It was delicious! Here's how my parfait looked topped with sprinkles:
  20. Avengers 1 - 1972 blue labels - 2806 total BB28 - 655 blue labels - 796 total More than 3 times the amount of AV 1 to BB28. High grade copies (8.0 and above): Avengers 1 - 190 (58 in 9.0 and above) X-men 1 - 233 (67 in 9.0 and above) Brave and the Bold 28 - 51 (13 in 9.0 and above) Those are just the slabbed copies at CGC. I have seen hundreds of both Avengers 1 and X-men 1 raw in market. Very few Brave and the Bold 28 raw. Quick eBay check: X-men 1 - over 50 copies for sale on eBay (stopped counting at 51) Avengers 1 - over 50 copies for sale on eBay (stopped counting at 51) Brave and the Bold 28 - ~29 copies for sale on eBay (a few coverless) Good input! Thank you.
  21. Yes, it had its spike a few years ago - prices more or less trebled. That's two very good reasons right there. Could someone post the census stats on Brave and the Bold 28 versus Avengers 1?
  22. When you collect something as a fan, you buy Avengers #1-402. I agree.
  23. You have some great eclectic comics from the fifties! I've always admired the ones you've posted.
