  1. Here's my own Justice League of America 1 which had visible colour touch on the lower right when I bought it more than twenty years ago: The defect grew to bother me so much over the years that about nine years ago I sent it to Susan Cicconi at the Restoration Lab to see what could be done. Well she returned it free of charge saying nothing could be done about the existence of the colour touch but it was no longer visible! Now I'm content with my copy.
  2. Here's the first Silver Age "Man Without Fear": Except of course when it comes to women where he's plagued by doubts and insecurities.
  3. Five more scans of Batman covers:
  4. Uggghhhhh! What a wretched Amazing Spider-Man cover! Me I'd reach for Wonder Woman instead of any spider-boy. But Destiny to Destiny:
  5. Here's one I've recently acquired:
  6. Here as well are my five oldest Detective Comics: Dallas Stephens copy Cleveland copy
  7. Surely there must have been more than a few at the Los Angeles Vintage Paperback Collectors Show!
  8. Same here on both counts. I remember admiring the Matchbox displays at local variety and hardware stores during my formative comic buying years but I was sixteen and in eleventh grade when Hot Wheels were introduced. Therefore it's the Matchboxes such as the ones in the numbered boxes I've pictured that I might eventually more actively collect:
  9. True indeed! Here therefore are my five oldest Batman comics:
  10. My most recent additions to my collection were these three high dollar slot car kits: Revell 1/24 Mr. Rat Fink in Lotus Ford Revell launched the above kit in 1965 with this wild cool ad in magazines such as Car Model and Boy's Life: The two kits are demand scarce because of x-over interest from both "Big Daddy" Roth fans and slot car enthusiasts. Monogram 1/24 Indy Lotus Type 38 I love the look of the Type 38 Lotus! It was among the last of the cigar-shaped Indy cars and among the first rear-engined Indy cars. The Indy Lotus is widely hailed as being among Monogram's very finest slot car offerings and mint-in-box ones are super difficult to find these days. At the top of my slot car Want List are the Monogram '36 Ford Coupe and the '40 Ford Pickup from this ad which absolutely captivated me when I saw it in Boy's Life magazine in 1964: I mean just imagine building a model car kit that you could actually race against other ones! Cox 1/24 Ford GT40 Cox was technically almost half a year ahead of the other slot car manufacturers during the slot car boom of 1964-67 (and bust in 1968). And the 1/24 scale Ford GT40 is among Cox's all around best when combining both appearance and performance. The other kits on my list look somewhat crude in comparison to this Cox Ford GT40. Unassembled ones are also tough to find these days. A 1/24 scale Cheetah is the Cox slot car kit that tops my Want List these days though.
  11. An even bigger Grodd: Hey! Bananas in large quantities are fattening you know.
  12. Monsieur Mallah who had genius level intelligence bestowed upon him by the Brain who led the Brotherhood of Evil.
  13. But Phantom Lady's headlights always lit the way for the proper development of young boys!
  14. Do any of you fellows collect the Matchbox cars that were originally issued in the little boxes?
  15. That cover and image is so wildly bizarre that it had to make my list!
  16. A couple of my favourite super-intelligent gorilla covers:
  17. There's already a longstanding "Batman" thread in this Silver Age forum. It's chock full of great scans! Not that I can find it with the miserable Search program on this forum....
  18. Steve Ditko was responsible for which changes to the Hulk if any?
  19. Is there a list anywhere of the comics in which Marvel heroes confront the Reds? I'd be willing to build up a collection of those.
  20. Bruce has long been among my favourite movie stars: Here he is with his sidekick Honey West: Some twenty years ago I was outbid for this Ideal Honey West board game in a Hake's auction and I regret it to this very day: Ralph Pereida did the artwork. Ideal had the best box art for board games because of Ralph Pereida.
  21. To the first Annual I bought as an adult: I never did find a copy as a kid even though I checked about a half dozen newsstands.
