You can do it right here on the boards. However,:rulez:This is for book listings only.

Watch another listing here. One of the successful one's of course and it will give you a template of what to do and how to do it.

Selling here will save you up to 20% over something like eBay.

Could you clarify what you mean by book listings only?  The Forum bread trail says "Comics> Comics Market - Forum Only Selling Area> Mixed Age Threads and Misc".  Seems like a place to sell comics, books, tpb's, etc.  Maybe I'm missing something.

I brought this up to the team.  This was added to the FAQ:

What happens when I submit a book for Holder Review?

If your book is determined to be correctly graded, it will be reholdered with a new certification number and returned to you at no charge. If your book is determined to be incorrectly graded, CGC will retain your book as evidence, and you will be compensated for the current fair market value of an accurately graded book at the original incorrect (higher) grade. Fair market value is calculated in accordance with the CGC Guarantee.

Why does CGC ask for my purchase receipt when I submit a book for Holder Review?

CGC's request for your purchase receipt helps in our fulfillment of the CGC Guarantee as well as our ongoing investigation of this incident.

"CGC will retain your book as evidence"???

What if you don't want them to keep your property???

If you are the owner, you should decide who gets to keep your property.

If those are the terms under which you are submitting for a Holder Review, and you agree with the terms, then I guess that's the way it is.  Might be a tough decision for some.

But I don't know if you have much choice.  You do need to know what is in the case.

The ad on the back of the cover for ASM 12 is the encyclopedias. Here's a pic of my raw #12 to compare to the one on the ASM #4 above.

Oh, I see.  I thought you meant the replaced corner matched the existing ad on #4.

I guess the goal is to buy a 2.5, judging by the dip between 2.0 and 3.0 on GPA. Although it is a single sale causing that.

This one is a unique one...the corner box on this ASM #4 has been replaced with the corner box from ASM #12! The color matches as does the ad on the back.

Would this come back as a qualified or restored if submitted? It also has tape on the back and what seems like one added staple. Is it worth getting graded? I'm thinking it's in the 2.0 range.

A 2.0 restored and a 2.0 blue label both recently sold for a bit over $900 (6 months apart). There are no qualified 2.0's.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this

I'm not seeing that the ad on the back of the price block matches.  The price block ad is for encyclopedias (?), and the comic ad is for body building.

Unless you mean the color of the ad and the page are relatively the same.

I find it odd that so many on here are still defending CGC to the point of making pedophilia-based "jokes" about it.

Is there anyone here who is at all circumspect about using their "services" going forward?

I'll probably take advantage of their express MVS replacement deal if that's still on offer.

Not bothering me a bit, and I am sure I am in the 90+% of people who will have zero impact from this scandal.  If you deal in high value books, especially those particular issues that are scam favorites, different story.

I've been subbing right along, hope to increase.  My biggest loss, since being involved with CGC for many years, is the many hours lost reading this 370+ page thread, and following all the links to see "evidence".  Kinda interesting, but exhausting.

The new unlimited has to be a mistake.  The price should - and no doubt will be - 4% FMV minus 20 percent. That's 3.2%.  $100 minimum charge becomes $80 minimum charge.  There is no way CGC is lowering the minimum price of Unlimited to $55. That price is less than High value/

The $55 is the savings between 135 and 80. I guess the 150 and 135 were relevant as the old prices, and then they dropped the whole thing to $100 minimum.

On Unlimited, I can see dropping the fee by 10 or 20%, but why would you drop the minimum? Did they always do that? I haven't submitted under Unlimited.

I can now see why the Vintage is funky - they raised the base price to $40. Dropping everything else, raising that. Odd.

  7. The Vintage section of this chart makes no sense to me:

    ==============================================

If it was $37, and you get 10% off now, why isn't the NEW PRICE $33.30 (like the PREVIOUS PRICE in Elite chart, which was 10% off).  Says $36.

And in the Elite chart, the NEW Price should be $29.60 after getting 20% off.  $37x 0.8 = $29.60

The SAVINGS column on Vintage is worse than the Modern savings.  That can't be right, on a higher cost using the same percentages off.

Are they still teaching math at school, or has that gone the way of cursive and grammar?

And the Unlimited minimums look wacky.  Right now, on the online comic pricing schedule, the minimum is showing as $100.  I don't have any idea what $150/$90 and $135/$80 minimums are.  Makes no sense.

But I haven't submitted an Unlimited.  Maybe someone else can make sense of it.

  8. The announcement says:

What if I have a submission at CGC now?

The new pricing is effective for submissions received on or after January 24, 2024, even if the packing slips were created before the price changes.

    Yeah, you should call.

Doesn't surprise me.  I sent in 6 orders in October that were eligible for the pressing $5 credit. They charged the full amount. I had to call on EACH order to get it fixed, and they still owe me for 2 orders since January 4.

They are quick to take your money, slow to give you their money.

All I am saying is that scams that involve separating the books from the original labels would be harder to accomplish if the original label had the original comic scanned IMO.

Yes the scan would be small, and you certainly could not see minor details, but most comics have lines in the art that go to the edges of the book that are easy to see if they match or not (even with a small scan).

Also, it is just one tool - if something did not match up well, you could then go to the "verify" scan and see more detail.

Just looking for deterrents to the scam we know, that maybe can be implemented ahead of a 2 year case redesign.

This would be more of a hindrance than a benefit. People will "think" they see things in this micro-scan that indicate that the book has been swapped, just due to the tiny size. There will be false positives all over the place.

Better if they could photograph 1 tiny, distinctive defect (just about every comic has one), and state the location of that defect. Then put that closeup image and location on the back of the label, like a fingerprint.

  10. If I recall, you have to go through a confirmation screen to accept, so hard to be an accident. Maybe if you goofed twice in a row on the same process, or had too much to drink. Then you deserve the result, own it.

If I was the seller, and did it by "accident", I would still honor the accepted offer, blame myself for being an idi0t, and take the hit.

As far as what you can do after the order was canceled by the seller, not much. You can't force him to honor the accepted offer. Feedback revenge is an option, well deserved.

  11. If you put the dehumidifier in the room, instead of in the closet, the temp probably would not rise much, if at all.

The heat from the compressor on the dehumidifier is causing the small closet to overheat, but it should get dispersed in a decent sized room.  And the closet would still be at the same relative humidity as the room itself.  They do make some operating noise, so in a bedroom could be a problem.
