  1. I sent it in back in early October. I had CCS press it. So they pressed a 9.6 into a …. 9.6. I am content but not overjoyed. It could have gone much worse! My book went over from CCS to CGC on the 14th, so you may be up next!
  2. Prayer answered: Amazing Spider-Man 300 5/88 Marvel Comics Signature 9.6 WHITE SIGNED BY TODD MCFARLANE ON 12/8/22
  3. Mine just did. A 316 that went in as a 9.2/9.4 came out an 8.0 I sent in a slabbed ASM 300 at 9.6. I am in a state of terror over it. I wish I could just get my 9.6 back.
  4. So, this means the current grade stands, right?
  5. I sent in an ASM 300 at 9.6 for the Todd signing. In my greed I hoped CCS would press it up to a 9.8. Now I just pray to all available and willing gods to get my 9.6 back
  6. Kudos to all the people who sent a kind message along with their request, I never would have thought of it! I nervously await back my ASM 300, I sent it out at a slabbed 9.6, fear how it will come back! Thanks to everyone who is processing our signature requests.
  7. No, they seem to either be more plentiful, or in less demand, either way, they run cheaper than the US version.
  8. Yes, the interior kills it! But I think I am gonna try to get it cleaned. In the end, it's one of the nicer looking midgrade 28s...
  9. I could never work out what The New Teen Titans 1 still pretty much goes for nothing despite it being a 42 year old book with popular characters (the original Robin!), story arcs, that have been replayed over and over on TV. The first Teen Titan book in the 60s is still a cheap book. You can still get what is basically the beginning of Nightwing for essentially cover price (add in inflation) Overhyped: Pick a variant, any variant.
  10. Yes, that is my experience as well. I think I will have it professionally cleaned if the price is right. Mainly because despite it's flaws it presents well as you say.
  11. I still have my emails to him back from 2012. He pressed a copy of ASM 194 for me that I had from my own childhood collection. Came back a 9.6. Every book I submitted back then went through his pressing service. He also gave grading estimates. Now I know he's at CGC and boy do I miss working with him as a presser/pre grader.
  12. Along with ASM 60, the toughest to get in high grade. I am hoping this is a 7.0? Go on and tell me the truth.
  13. Buy your own press. Good ones are under 300. Practice with dollar books about 30 times. Then move on to dry pressing (NO CLEANING) books under 100. Avoid any hand irons at first. Press at low heat to start - 140-150, I only use 160 for Silver age. The move on to steaming - although I prefer just using distilled water/immacu-clean (Insert your rants here) and I avoid steaming entirely. I press and gently clean anything I submit now. Erasing white areas (combined with distilled water/mixed with mild cleaner works GREAT) I have already cracked and resubmitted one of my own pressings to get an estimate of what benefits I am getting by my pressing: older silver age book went from 5.0 to 7.0, although I should note that the original problem was wrinkled/mild water damage and those are EASY to fix. Just wet down with distilled water, press and the cover is flat! I have a few books waiting for a press at CGC that I submitted months agao. In that time I have 1) bought a press and 2) Practiced and 3) submitted my own pressed books and received them back (!)
  14. Ok, the back cover is a bit rougher, but it looks like a professional clean and press would help it!
  15. Is the back cover missing from that 3.5 or something? Shakes head.... I woulda hit the roof with that grade.
  16. Have a heart. Someone cross submits a ASM 1 with a verified Stan Lee sig (by PGX) with them and they put "says stan lee" on it doesn't even rise to fair. It's a pittance. That said, my book in their case still improves things.
  17. It was already a 10K book. I see you missed what was written. An ASM 1, restored with a grade, around 5.5-8.0 is already worth 10 grand or more without the signature. The Stan Lee signature only adds a small addition to the value. So you're risking something worth 10k in the hopes of making what? Another 500 to 1000? Just flat out stupid even for the stupidest con artist. Then you have to add in the talent required for a good fake of a signature... there's just no sense to it. Now, if the book had little to no value without the signature, sure, then watch out.
  18. I honestly had hoped that the inconsistency was due to favoritism of some sort, having it be just... random is even more concerning.
  19. It's working for me now, seems even faster than usual. Thanks to all who worked on this.
  20. It’s been down for 2 days now. I guess this goes along with CGC not sending the scan for my book.
  21. Finally. Two Stan signatures makes up for the purple. (I knew it was restored.) I can't say I agree with the grade, however!
  22. There is a simple solution: Verified signatures would just get a blue label with the note "Verified signature." The Signature series would remain the Benchmark signature, as it was witnessed, not just verified. I hope CGC considers this. It would also reduce the value of a CBCS slab if CGC offered the same services.
  23. Always avoid messing with a 9.8, unless the extra signature is worth getting back a 9.2 If you get rid of a PGX, realize that the grade you get at CGC will likely be lower. I'd add in that a issue 180 has a life of its own without any need of signature.
  24. Unless or until CGC gets someone to authenticate Signatures like CBCS has already done. I raised an additional point with their customer service that they agreed with: Who would put a phony signature on a 10 thousand dollar book? Doesn't prove a thing, but it goes to the reality that CGC assumes that these signatures are probably real, just, like a good referee, they aren't going to make a call on a play they didn't see.
