  1. Not quite done yet, but I'd be happy to share when I get there... Mostly I'm still wrestling over some of the "maybe" piles before I pull the trigger This makes sense, thanks! I agree about the list... I'm pretty sure no one is going to really care except maybe me. One reason is definitely to get that baseline price from MCS though... I figured I'd get that and then raise it a bit (maybe double depending on how many they're not even offering to buy) and then go from there. I definitely was not considering separating anything and just had everything sorted. That's a great idea though, and I'll definitely do that... thank you!
  2. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I didn't have much luck with the search feature... if anyone has something bookmarked I'd be happy to go read an old post instead of starting a new one! But anyway... I'm trying to do another one of those 5-10 year cleans and am just wondering what varying levels of success people have had with different outlets and/or anything you may have done to make your lot easier to sell and more attractive to a potential buyer. I'm currently putting every issue into the mycomicshop.com database, so that will give me an absolute bottom line offer. Of course, they are want to buy like 25% of what I actually have, and if they don't end up being able to make an off on ALL of it I'm not interested in searching out specific issues and breaking up runs. As I'm creating this list I'm also keeping a manual Excel sheet thinking that I could easily print that out or email it around. Excel list has an approximate grade as I'm trying to keep it matched with the MCS list - which does not offer every potential grade on the 10-point scale. 95% of everything is bag/board, everything is alphabetized, and all mini-series/full sets/long runs are also bagged together and labeled (the idea being that, if I setup at a con, it would be easy to sell the sets) So... Has anyone had a particularly good (or bad) experience with selling in bulk to any of the online retailers? Is it worth going to a local show with my list in hand and attempt to solicit offers? I've seen "Buy Me Out" signs at cons before, but I'm not sure I've ever actually seen anyone get bought out... would anyone recommend that? I'd prefer, of course, to sell locally due to the volume of books being moved, and I know I can go down to the LCS (which I like), but I'd like to have a couple of offers at least before just letting it go to the easiest route. Is it even worth trying to post on Craig's list? I'm hoping to finish cataloging and double-checking everything by the end of summer, so just soliciting ideas as to what the best next step would be... Thanks!! (Oh, and I'm only moving raw comics this time...)
  3. I have the app on my phone, and I get push notifications of them...
  4. Nah, but that whole thing was pretty funny! I only buy the ones for the shows I went to... picked up a signed copy of Krakow. (I was on the list to get one direct from the artist but somehow missed out. Spotty internet in Poland on my phone... oh well) Just waiting on Prague now... I thought there was no way Prague was going to be so expensive! Crazy. *patience*
  5. . yeah, I just dropped way too much on a Pearl Jam poster freaking yesterday! Guess I'll have to find something else to buy
  6. I was hoping to get to the end of this thread and see that the book was found :-/ Way out of my price range, but I'll keep my eyes open too... Best of luck!
  7. I went on a bender looking for this series around like 2012... Recently noticed the prices seemed silly and didn't realize there was movie talk or anything... Glad I got the series read earlier! 19 is a Savannah copy... looks like I'm missing the Annual too though!
  8. Picked this up about 10 years ago as a 9... just recently back from CGC
  9. I'm sending mine that I've had since high school in soon... hoping for 9.0...
  10. I had a copy of this forever... pretty sure I got this in high school along with NM98 and some other random stuff in a trade for BadMotorFinger and Jar of Flies on CD right around the time that Superunknown came out. Can't say I'm too unhappy with the grade given the number of times this got read and/or passed up and down the aisles in class! One day maybe I'll spring for the upgrade, but for now I'm good!
  11. Thanks! I hadn't noticed that particular thing before... I agree that the raw book and the first book are definitely not the same. And I'm *pretty* sure that the 2nd one is actually the raw book and that these are now mislabeled in their slabs. Just didn't know if there was any way to identify these 2 pedigrees outside of trying to compare the scan I made years ago - who knows, maybe I screwed up and mislabeled something... I just don't think so. (And none of my raw scans have that stamp on them.) Does CGC label Pedigrees just b/c I select the "Pedigree" option when submitting?
  12. I just got 3 copies of E-Man #1 back from CGC, two of which were Western Penn and 1 of which was Suscha News... and I feel like CGC may have swapped the labels. That or I have my original info backwards, but I'm pretty positive I don't as I only had scans of the Suscha book and submitted all 3 of them as soon as I got the 2 Western Penn copies in the mail. Is there a reliable way to differentiate these two pedigrees from each other? Here are the raw scans of what I believe is the Suscha copy (graded NM+ by Metropolis) Full size (front): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1SuschaNews_1-CGCVFNM.jpg Full size (back): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1SuschaNews_2-CGCVFNM.jpg Here are the scans of the "Suscha" book back from CGC Full size (front): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1BackSuschaNews-CGCVFNM.jpg Full size (back): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1SuschaNews-CGCVFNM.jpg Here is the book that I believe is from the original scan and should be the Suscha copy that CGC labeled as Western Penn (book was pressed, so I think that may explain the slightly different alignment of the staples) This was graded as VF/NM by WW Comics, and the slight yellowing down the spine also seems to match the original scan. The other Western Penn came back 9.6 and does not have the yellowing. There is also what appears to be a small smudge under the "e" in the word "Postage" on the back cover that matches the scan above. Full size (front): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1BackWesternPenn-CGCNM.jpg Full size (back): http://www.schmakt.com/issues/Charlton/E-Man_1973/1WesternPenn-CGCNM.jpg Any ideas? That stamp on the back of the "Suscha" copy seems a little strange too - I haven't seen that before on any Suscha or Western Penn copies. I also sent in a copy from the Tremont collection that I haven't yet received. That one has a stamp on the back, but it is "Aug 22" with a completely different orientation. EDIT: Well I'm not sure what I've done to screw up some of the full size links. Copy/Paste should work if clicking does not... sorry about that :-/
  13. Makes me wonder, of the existing owners, who would still be on the list if those 275 never existed... It would be kind of cool (albeit a bit creepy) to find the last 275 orders. (weren't these primarily sold via mail?)
  14. Got my #2 back while I was in Europe... a very nice surprise waiting for me when I got home! Paid $350 for this on ebay back in 2007 graded by the seller as VF. Screened it for pressing, but they said it would not help. Suffice to say, I'm pretty freaking happy with this
  15. Paid for the image service on this, but I never got the scans... here's a crappy photo of the resub to go with the update
  16. Need to update my entry... I resubmitted my 9.0 PLOD to see if the restoration could be removed. Unfortunately it could not, but it went from a 9.0 Apparent SA to 9.2 C-1, which I guess is actually a bad thing... Oh well. I tried!
  17. Thank you! Will shoot you a PM in just a minute
  18. trying to do some cleaning out... bought these on the boards a little over 10 years ago, but they no longer really fit my collection... Both were graded VG+ when I bought them, and I think that's about right for the 11, but the 13 is a little lower. Please see the scans or lmk if you have any particular questions. Both books are complete and intact, but the top staple on the 13 is on the verge of letting go if not handled properly. Asking $75 for the 11 SOLD! for the 13 (prices are all over the place...) Or feel free to make an offer! Shipping will be exact to wherever you are (from NC - 28216) or take both, and I'll ship US Priority for free or anywhere else in the world for exact costs - $13.65 ::takeit:: in the thread wins Paypal, Venmo, Cash app are all cool with me.
  19. Thought I had a big stack of vol. 1 around here somewhere, but I can't find it, so I guess that's it for now, and it's dinner time! Will leave this up through the weekend and then ship them off to ebay or MCS for the credit... Thanks for looking! -jim
