  1. I recall seeing a book at auction, that had some terrible flaw, yet graded really well because it presented so well. That being said, it would not surprise me to find this grades at a 6.0
  2. It wasn't a garage sale find, but the seller set up a table in the garage to show me a few books...here are a couple of pics of two I took home.
  3. Had some more fun and grabbed a stack of western comics...the rarest of which is this Rawhide No.1028 (#1), 4 color Dell. She's worn but intact.
  4. As a newbie, again, I scour sites, papers, stores and such for ads about comics... Yesterday, I came across an advertised short box of 100 comics for $40, but it looked to be a lot more than that...didn't quibble, didn't dig too hard, but after I saw the 2nd earlier ASM, I got out my cash and handed it over with a smile and a "Thank you!" It turned out to be a mixed lot of mostly modern, with a few silver age, and a few dozen bronze age items. The unexpectedness of seeing a Key or Minor Key item mixed in with a random assortment of superhero type books was well worth the time. The grades vary widely, but the fun and excitement of looking and finding was Near Mint!! I have left them as found, as is, but plan to clean and re-bag and board the better ones.
  5. It was part of a package deal...so, as a price per item, under $5
  6. Oh, Matt Baker cover too! Just found this tidbit while researching this book
  7. And this is why some check every nook and cranny, every shop, every garage sale...the hunt is fun, and the finding is even better.
  8. No writing or penciling in on the cover or anywhere else, that I can detect. Just the lighting conditions I have to work with..
  9. Came across a few books this Summer...thought you might enjoy a couple of pics of a couple EC items... 3D No. 2 was actually falling apart, 4 or 5 little bitty pieces of the cover, were left on the black background mat I was using. Cover completely detached, and beat up around the edges, but the interior shows well. An extra staple seems to be added post production... someone trying to show it a little love decades ago. No glasses. ( first 6 pics ) 3D No. 1 is better. Cover is completely detached but not so beat up along the edges/corners. Lays nice and flat. Annnnnnd, (1) partial pair of glasses. ( last 8 pics )
  10. Thank you for the grade comment. I hope to become more proficient and knowledgeable and able to do this myself...may take some time. But, even then, this is a fun way to share books we all own.
  11. Thank you Mr. Gnasher. I hope to enjoy this site for years to come.
  12. Evening everyone. I am the very fresh, very new guy, in my 50's. Been away from Comics for 40+ years, but having fun learning from those that have been around. Please don't chastise me too much for submitting too much info, and too many pics. Not sure how to take better pics, and have no access to a scanner..? As I mentioned, I'm the newest old guy here maybe. This book has a little corner damage, it has a slight blemish along the top edge above the (3) ...'s, what looks to be a little scuff on back cover near upper right corner, and I couple of little nicks on the back cover as seen from the inside pics of it, one very near the spine, and one near lower corner. Staples look very nice. Spine may show a little wear nearing the bottom..?? Pages look light tan...?? idk. Oh, and the advertisements!! Could use a cleaning and pressing, but I've never seen results of such an operation. Anyway, Thank You! for such a great page.
  13. It seems so few come up for sale.. I've been trying to find sites that track this item and others like it without much luck.
  14. Not sure if this book was really loved and read a lot, or really hated and left in the basement to die! Lots of things wrong with this Matt Baker Masterpiece, but still complete. Picked it up in a box lot group this summer. It may have a little value today still..
  15. The picture may not be so good, but the book is pretty neat. This is the first "crime" book I've purchased
