  1. Is it something only a seasoned veteran can handle, or can a middle-aged newbie complete the tasks..?
  2. I was thinking moisture damage. Pages got too wet and old paper released glue before they dried out..ending up stuck together..?
  3. While going through a new find last year, I noticed that a few pages were sticking together at the very corners. It is occurring in a few different spots at the lower right section/corner of the book. Maybe as much as a 1/4" and as little as 1/16" in 5 or 6 areas. As many as four pages in those areas. I have been reluctant to try anything in regards to repairing or undoing this ugliness from my beautiful 3.5ish book, as I wish to do no further damage. Any and all advice is much appreciated. Maybe if I new proper terminology for this issue, I could find the info here or online which is undoubtedly available...Heck, maybe it is better in the long run to just leave it alone... Oh, the trials of the hobby. Thank you very much, Chief.
  4. Interesting idea.. Some books are quite difficult to replace, I'm sure, but I might have a couple that I can't afford to keep because of CMV. Allows me to buy other books that I could not otherwise afford to buy..?? Put profit to work a lil bit maybe..? Make a few new friends and connections along the way too.
  5. Recommendations for achieving a fair price for a run down book? As much as I like it, there may be another Baker enthusiast that likes it more..
  6. So how about that DC #2...? vs the HA copy up next month.?
  7. Still trying to learn the ins and outs of the hobby...wondering if you do this type of theory on all books or just certain books like this rarely seen item?... better page quality vs grade...? Thank you
  8. From one newbie to another, find yourself a site for pricing of comics, learn about grading, and have a little fun. Best way to get started...
  9. Spot on statement....just nice to be back into comics!
  10. My first comic I purchased in over 40 years..
  11. Hard to show my best three this year because every book I own, I purchased this year. Instead, I would like to give a shout out to the friend that helped me to start this collecting endeavor(first name only)… Mark - your love of the hobby reignited my own. And through several, mentoring type of conversations, I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first book, in over 40 years, from you... Thanks Brother. This is the book, a 9.4 cbcs dream come true for this old guy..
  12. That is a fantastic book. Was it ever cleaned and pressed while you had it...before grading? Congrats!!
  13. They are large square bond books.. and were stacked for years. Covers suffered but pages are about pristine. Seller helped to clean out a huge, old house... found some books after half of the shelves had been cleared and contents thrown into the roll-away dumpsters!! He saved some one owner items luckily.
  14. Santa and Bugs Bunny...well worth the trek. A few of the 31 books I brought home. Lots of early 50's. Merry Christmas to all.
  15. Thank you, I am not the greatest at taking proper pics... its a survivor and could do with a pressing. I need to find out more about such things (the do's and don'ts, where and why, pros and cons..)
  16. Thank you, Gnasher. Happy to have it, and your opinion.
  17. Sorry about the picture with the shadow, got in a bit of a hurry,..Book is complete, staples look bright, small losses on this old book, interior colors are very good, pages are light tan...? Thanks again.
  18. Please Grade My.... Showcase #6 Got in a hurry and did not notice shadow on cover pic. Snapped one in the bag. Small losses on few edges and corners. Staples are clean. Interior colors look nice. Page color...? idk, cream or tan...? Smells like a 60 year old book that spent little time in the basement. Thank you.
  19. I love the hunt, but I think we all do. I have been visiting this local antique shop a couple times a month, looking through the very limited amount, and variety of comic books. But, I keep at it... checking the books, talking to the owner of the shop, making inquiries about the next expected lot of books coming in. During a previous visit, when I asked about eventual additions to the comics, the owner mentioned that one of the vendors, has comics drying out... and when they are ready she would contact me. Waiting, visiting, inquiring continued until yesterday. I asked again about books coming in, got the same reply, so I asked, "Are the comics that you are waiting to dry here, on the premises?" Yes. "Is it okay if I look through them?" Yes. BOOM! Sifted through a few hundred books... more Archie, more Tarzan, more Uncle Scrooge, and then I see this item. Entry level book, cover attached, centerfold detached, all pages present, and well loved.... Incredible Hulk #5. It isn't a high dollar item, but it is my first early Hulk. I love it!
