  1. Thank you for replying! I think you're the first one who has mentioned price-points in multiple venues! I know everything is relative and subjective, and I very much appreciate your input! Anyone else? Thank you, My Friends!
  2. Great feedback! Thanks! Some questions- So is $300 or less a "kind of standard" for low-end? How do I find out who is a "Strong" artist? Thanks again for replying!
  3. Thanks for your input! You make a very strong point! I'm not sure how to phrase this question (and I think I agree with you), but- Is Heritage the only one that follows that particular standard...one item at a time, hammer closes bidding? I've got local auctions near me that follow that standard, but is Heritage the only "national" comic book auctioneer that follows that standard?
  4. Some great feedback! I've purchased auction items in the past thru Ebay and Heritage, and I'm pretty familiar with them, but you bring up some great points regarding buyer and seller aspects in each of those venues that I had not really thought about. Very helpful! I"ve considered buying a few pieces off some other sites just to get a little more familiar with them, but I made a commitment not to buy anything else through 12/31/19. I will only be selling! (please no one ask for details!:)). Thus the reason for my OP! Another question(s)- You said ComicConnect is "mainly geared for selling comics, not art." Can you elaborate on this? Is it their format? The way they advertise? Please remember, I've only been on here a few weeks, so I hope it's not a dumb question(s). And please, if any experienced sellers have anything to offer, please do so! Thanks again for your time!
  5. Good question! I probably should have worded the OP differently. I don't actually have a "definition" per se. My collection ranges from $20 convention sketches to OA worth several thousand. I'm in the process of downsizing and I'm trying to get input from experienced sellers about the different venues. So far I've received some great advice. If anyone else has anything to add, please do so! Thanks again!
  6. I've never bought or sold on Comic Link, but your comment made me look closer at it and I think you are right! Thank you for the helpful feedback!
  7. Any opinions/advice on the best auction venue to sell original art? I'm preparing to downsize my collection. I plan on selling the low-end items through ebay and local venues. I figure the higher valued items will do better at places like Heritage or ComicLink or ComicConnect (or another place?). Any opinions on price-points for each venue, including ebay? Thanks in advance for your input!
  8. I'm getting ready to purchase insurance coverage for my collection. I'll probably go with Collectible Insurance Services. Does anyone have any advice or input before I sign on? Thanks!
  9. Has anyone heard of these plastic cases for comic books called "Mill Case" ?. I was googling around and came across them. http://www.millcase.com/buyit.html
  10. I hear ya! Tornado season kicks in around here in the springtime and lasts through summer! (It's September, but I knocked on wood just in case!)
  11. Some great advice! Thank you! I will look for all those things before submitting for grading. I'm curious.....do you guys pay for the screening process?
  12. Thank you for replying! I will definitely check out comics.org! I'm always looking for advice from experienced folks like you. I also made a post not too long ago with questions about storing my comic books. If you could read the post and offer your advice and opnion, I would greatly appreciate it!
  13. Does anyone know if there is a "comic book storage" info forum? I'd like to post this there.
  14. Hello. First of all, thank you in advance for any and all advice. So far, everyone has been very helpful and respectful with my "newbie" questions since I joined a few weeks ago. This is a great chat board and I have already learned a lot! Also, I did not see a forum on comic book storage but I'm sure there is one out there. If anyone is able to redirect this to that forum, please do so (or send me a link). Thank you! The reason for today's post- I was a long-time comic book fan and collector (stopped collecting in the 90's, but kept my collection). I'm in the process of sorting my collection - trying to figure out the ones that are CGC worthy, and setting them aside for further scrutiny. My collection is in Mylites or Mylars with nice backer boards. As I'm sorting, I'm coming across several comics that are collectible, but not valuable enough to have slabbed. I'm placing these comics in a mylite that is close to it's size and then I place the mylited comic in a larger, non-mylite silver/golden comic bag with a silver/golden board (as pictured). In other words- 1-comic is placed in mylite cover without board 2-board is placed in larger cover 3- mylited comic is placed inside larger cover with board behind it and outside of mylite. The comics like the one in the picture may stay in storage like this for up to a year (I'm taking care of CGC candidates first). Understandably, I'll be asked "Why are you doing this?", so I'll go ahead and answer in advance- The reason I'm bagging and boarding this way is that I plan on selling these comics individually at a local flea/antique market or possibly a small local comic book show, and I figured bagging the comic like this would reduce some of the handling on the comic. In other words, a buyer could get a look at the front and back cover without actually touching the comic. If the buyer likes what they see, we move on to the next step and check out the interior of the comic. Also, I hope it's safe to assume that the Mylite will protect the comic from the cheaper, outer comic bag (it says it's archival, but it's not a Mylite). My concerns- 1) Will storing like this cause any condition issues? 2) If it's safe to store this way, how should I store them? Flat? Upright? Extra boards between? (feel free to post pictures or send links). 3) Is there a cheaper way to do this? I'm not doing this to all my non-CGC comics, just ones at a certain price point. The rest I'm leaving in the Mylite w/backer. 4) And again, if it's okay to store this way, is it ok for all comics- "Giant Size", "Annual", "100 Page Giant", magazines, etc.? FYI- I stopped my sorting and bagging. I bagged about 40 comics like this and then had second thoughts! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
